The shopping bags are one of the most hotly debated aspects of the case. Regarding them, I have three hypotheses.

1- Meet up

In my opinion, this is the most likely scenario. Based on the items she bought—bedsheets and lingerie, for example—I would say she was very likely planning to meet someone, either at a hotel or at a house. So the destination they ended up going to may indeed have been another person’s home or a hotel.

2 – Lost/Destroyed

Sneha may have lost them while going to another establishment, or she left them somewhere, or—after she became the victim of something sinister—they were destroyed (this hypothesis does not exclude the first one, since it involves foul play).

3 – They were in the apartment

If this was not properly verified, and if Sneha had many items, it is possible that the shoes, bedsheets, and lingerie were taken into the apartment that night, and that she unpacked them and discarded the bags. The call (?) her husband Jon received in the early morning may have been related to this—her informing him that she had left the purchases there but was going out somewhere else.

The least likely scenario is number 3. Number 2 may have occurred in conjunction with number 1. However, one factor that lends some credibility to number 3 is the rain that was falling in New York that day and the proximity of the stores. It would not make sense for her to carry the bags around the city unless she was planning to meet someone—which is what I believe happened.

I’ve posted before & should be a verified expert Century 21 shopper from that time period.
The bags were large rectangles with a strip of cardboard in the base to keep the shape. Exactly the width of a ladies shoebox, and long enough to fit maybe 2-3 shoeboxes plus more. Big & cumbersome. The bags had those plastic handles you don’t see anymore. A shopper would leave with heavy bags, you would bump everyone on crowded streets and they cut into your hand if heavy. But it was so common to see people laden with C21 bags in that part of town.
Sneha could, in the rain, definitely meet a friend out at bar or restaurant straight from C21 if she didn’t have time to go home. C21 right near 6-8 major subway trains.
Very possible she asked to leave her massive shopping bag(s) in a coat check, or “behind the bar” so they wouldn’t be in the way in a busy cramped NYC eatery/bar. If it was a familiar & friendly place she could have left them until the next day … and if that place was anywhere in lower Manhattan, it could have been closed for months, or forever after 9/11. I’ve worked in restaurants with coat check and people forget things all the time and come back to collect (even gold rings left on the bathroom sink, lost earrings, etc). Any decent establishment would keep the items. The coats, bags, umbrellas would remain on their hook until collection. There’s no reason the staff who took the bags would know her name or remember her after 9/11. And she could have said “my name is Sneha” and they could have heard Hannah or, like a friend of mine gives fake name only (Sally) because her real name is uncommon and needs to be spelled. She could possibly not cared that much about anyone stealing the random discount items from the coat check.
IMO - she left the bags at a bar or eatery (or at unknown friend apt,) went home with someone and perished related to the 9/11 tragedy on her way home. The unknown friend may also have perished. Her life was as complicated as every other 9/11 victim doesn’t mean murder.

They are still analyzing dna …
