IMHO there would be one source only that could provide information about the argument.
The man who stated there was an argument.
I would not really be surprised if he was not forthcoming about the details.
Everything we know about what Sylvia and BF/F did that night comes from one source.
They were alone.
Others can tell us about days/hours leading up to that night, about behavior after that night.
But everything about those few hours before Sylvia disappeared comes from BF/F
bbm: --Or a full story not revealed here which is understandable- others may know. All we know is there was an argument, that sent SL's nearest and dearest searching for her that night. What could set that kind of reaction in motion?
I find it hard to believe that SL's family and friends do not know the nature of the argument, or didn't find out later... Somehow, the silence tells me that.
Personally, if I was told absolutely nothing from the BF/F, I would be moving boulders in addition to shaking the trees, very publicly to find out what happened.
Good points Dushi: Let me rephrase: I find it hard to believe that SL's family and friends did not hear about the nature of the argument, or didn't find out later... Somehow, the silence tells me that.
MMQC is bravely sharing what she can, imo. She has been the only insider willing to speak on behalf of her friend. Understandably, it could be a mine field given the circumstances.
I think the point I was trying to make is the BF/F may have told the family what his version of what the argument was about and it just hasn't been shared here. I also wonder if several conflicting stories were told.
...Someone knows something...
Since there does not appear to have been a history of arguing between the engaged couple, I lean towards the argument that evening was about either another male she once had been interested in, or she was currently interested in, or about a male who may have been currently interested in her.
IMO others would know who this other male (if he exists) might have been.

Or maybe they fought about another woman that interested him? Could she have discovered something about him that she didn't like?
I think you have a good point re: the family not liking him possibly, and that might have influenced the attitude he displayed. What I am stuck on is MMQC's reaction to him-she didn't seem to like him either, and yet he sought her out to go and search for Sylvia. Afterwards, he had no use for her (MMQC) and in fact, was openly hostile to her-swearing at her months after the disappearance when she contacted him. This bothers me as much as the glasses.
Would think that would have been jumped on had others known of or learned that he had pursued or was interested in another female (even soon after SL's disappearance).
Possibly, but maybe she never got the chance to tell anyone before she disappeared-and he disappeared out of the Lwowski family's life immediately. I think if Sylvia had been interested in or even seeing someone else, MMQC would know (maybe). I think he found out about her abortion, personally, and blew a gasket.

BF/F discovered something and confronted SL about it that evening. Whatever that was may have led to the argument they were likely engaged in...what had he learned about that precipitated the argument that night?
