What about a girl who was found on 12/20/75 in Los Angeles-checked into a hotel under the name "Alison Lowell"? Age is right, and so's the time frame-this UID had brown hair, but that isn't difficult to change. I wish there was more detailed info; if Sylvia Alice Lwowski wanted to change her name, I could imagine Alison Lowell as a possibility
Perry County Pennsylvania Jane Doe could be a possibility, too, but for the clothing found (wool twill pants, and other things that don't match what she was last seen wearing-and don't match the season she disappeared).
In the UIP Westchester County, NY which Skeet linked, UIP was discovered in 1988, probable year of death 1988 and a postmortem interval of 6 hrs, maximum age 25:
SL would have been about 35 yo in 1988.
Yet they felt it warranted to list SL as ruled-out.
Is there some indication that she could have left on her own (prob year of death 1988) that they ran that one through?

I saw that-but, for me, one man's hazel eyes could be another man's brown eyes. Really, what color is hazel-greenish brown?

Hazel is awfully close to brown. I wonder what the chances of error here are?
Imo: This 1975 CA UID #4457 should go on the list t/b compared b/c of date found, age, height & weight, and the “check in name”, as Jmoose points out (an interesting observation when you consider the timing of date found).
There are fingerprints to compare – I am assuming since all parts were recovered that there are photographs of the victim.
Looking at Sylvia’s photos her hair color can also be interpreted as light brown, as well. Was she a “natural” strawberry blond as is listed on her NamUs profile? Imo – no she was not.
While I do think the chances are greater they are correct in the UID’s eye color – hazel eyes definitely have variations from green to brown and thus could be interpreted differently. There is always a margin for error, too. (imo)
I too wonder what other states Sylvia has possible connections to whether through family or friends at Wagner College. I don't how she would end up in California - but all directions on Staten Island seem just as elusive.
When I get some time this weekend I'll gather these UIDs together for Kim-
Hi Kim:
-Listed below are four (4) more UIDs that (Sylvia Lwowski's Websleuth thread) is wondering about.
Our notes are indicated in italics.

Websleuths notes: 1975 CA UID #4457 t/b compared b/c of date found, age, height & weight, and the “check in name” Alison Lowell. Sylvia Alice Lwowski might have used a variation on her middle and last name?

There are more photographs of Sylvia added recently. Looking at Sylvia’s photos, her hair color can also be interpreted as light brown.. Was she a “natural” strawberry blond as is listed on her NamUs profile?
Re: the UID’s Brown eye color – hazel eyes (as described in Sylvia’s profile) definitely has variations from green to brown and thus could be interpreted differently? There is not much more info provided online re: this UID.

Trying to make use of my subscription to ancestry:
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/...pcat=40&fh=9&h=3030301359&recoff=9&ml_rpos=10
Not sure if this is the correct EL but it's a passenger list from 1953. I don't know when Sylvia's parents were married. A person named Gregorio L. came from the same area, same day with her. Callao Peru (Romanian).
Yes we are probably talking about the same one, I was just trying to see if I could find anything on ancestry.
Gotcha. I love Ancestry. It's amazing -- and always one of my first GO-TOs. But like you I found very little on the Ls (NY & U.S. census info on JL Sr.'s, birth family; JL Sr.'s military enlistment and VA death records; birth/death/SSN info on both parents), and even less when searching by EL's maiden name (nada).
California is pretty far afield, and I don't expect that the girl in Los Angeles would end up being Sylvia-but the name struck me, and I wanted to go in that direction in order to not be closed-minded about the possibilities. Since that was a possibility according to the police, it seemed like a good idea to go there. It's pretty unlikely, in my opinion, but stranger things have happened.
Why do women who venture out in places familiar to them disappear? I read recently about a woman named Amy Wroe Bechtel, who went missing while out on a run in a place she was well acquainted with-that's the best guess, at least, although some think her husband is responsible. It happens over and over again to so many people-more women than men, it seems...Amy was someplace where, if she really did disappear on her run, that nobody'd see anything. But Sylvia shouldn't have been. There's a bus stop right by the shopping center, which she'd likely have taken advantage of, rather than walking, I think. So where is she?
Do you have the world access, or just US?
No idea. I'm a freeloader on my father's account. My searches do pull up records from around the world -- is that any indication? And how would I know? If when signed in I looked at "my" member profile, would it say? Did you find more?
