NY - Ted Ammon, 52, murdered in his East Hampton home, 20 Oct 2001

I agree Lisa, it's going to be really ugly. I caught the NY news yesterday, and it looks like Shargel is going to pull out all the stops. I think Pelosi is guilty, but I am interested in what Shargel will have to say.

The trial may get ugly, and I think it will only hurt the defendant. It sounds like the fastest jury deliberations in the history of our court system...

How long does it take a group of 12 people to say, "GUILTY!" Penalty phase, "What's the worst we can give him? Agreed!"

Seesch! This guy blabbed to anyone who would listen that he killed him! And then did even more damage to himself with threats, etc...

I agree Katz...He's told everyone who would listen that he did it....

No clue about what lay ahead
Witnesses testify that Theodore Ammon seemed relaxed and at ease in the hours before he was killed

Pelosi’s fate could rest with those closest to him

On the last day of Theodore Ammon's life, he shopped for sweaters and luxury linens in East Hampton, bought tools and had a tuna steak dinner alone at a local restaurant with three glasses of wine, said witnesses in the murder trial of Daniel Pelosi.

By all reports, he was in a good mood. By cell phone, he told his sister he was excited to be spending time back in his Middle Lane mansion with his three dogs. His estranged wife, Generosa, had finally left the house along with Pelosi, her lover, in the middle of a bitter divorce....

AMMON 'GAY' BASH

by Kieran Crowley

Hours before he was murdered, multimillionaire Ted Ammon spent thousands of dollars on a pair of sweaters and visited a gay beach, witnesses said yesterday — before an irate prosecutor complained that accused killer Danny Pelosi is trying to besmirch the victim as a closet bisexual.
After the first full day of testimony in Pelosi's murder trial, Assistant Suffolk DA Janet Albertson charged that defense lawyer Gerald Shargel is trying to persuade jurors that Ammon, 52, had a secret gay tryst at a beach near his East Hampton mansion that led to his October 2001 murder.

Shargel "besmirched his reputation, or at least attempted to," Albertson said....

SAYS PELOSI ATTORNEY SLURS VICTIM

BY ROBERT GEARTY
and BILL HUTCHINSON
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS

An angry prosecutor took aim at alleged Long Island killer Danny Pelosi's attorney yesterday - blasting him for "besmirching" Wall Street mogul Ted Ammon by speculating he was the victim of a gay-sex slaying.
Prosecutor Janet Albertson said it was crass for the defense to begin the trial by saying Ammon was "conflicted in his sexual orientation."

"They are using that to suggest to the jury that that caused his death or played a role in his death," Albertson told reporters outside court. "I think at the end, the jury is going find that is not only untrue, but offensive."...

Wow, interesting stuff Lisa. This is the first chance I've had to read about this case.

I didn't read all the articles. Are there any photos of the victim and his ex-wife, Polosi's ex-wife?

He isn't the sharpest tool in the shed is he?

What about the pubic hair and unidentified blood? What's your take onthat?

I don't know about that blood...Very interesting. I want to hear more.

Meanwhile, NEWSDAY because it's a Long Island paper, has the most coverage. Post #30 on page 2 has an article which really laid out the case and has photos. But it seems to me that the NEWSDAY articles always have pix of Danny and Generosa and Ted.

But if you were to select only one article to read, that's the one.

Sherlock, the link above to MURDER IN THE HAMPTONS doesn't seem to have a photo of Generosa. But you can find more than one if you use the links in posts #41 and #43.

I think it's absolutely horrible that they are trying to smear Ted by insinuating he was gay and was killed by someone he picked up at a gay function. Nothing wrong with being gay at at all. But there has been no evidence so far that he was. It's just plain old character defamation.

What struck me is: if he were cruising at the gay beach, why in the world would he call a friend and say that he was disturbed by some of the characters he saw there?? That makes no sense.

Yes it is strange. If that's what he was into he wouldn't have made it a point to call someone and tell them that.

Lisa:

I've been reading up on this all afternoon. Interesting, but there is a lot. It would be like just starting to read up on the Laci case now!

I'm not convinced of this guy's guilt. I think there may be other possibilities. (i.e., the ex-wife hired someone). Or, she could have done it herself. From what I read, it was an overkill, and that is usually a sign of passion.

The problems that I'm running into now, but have just started reading is the other guys in jail saying he's admitted to it. Why in hell would any moron do that?

Also, he seems to have cared for and cares for the twins. It's puzzling.

My question is, "Is there anyone Pelosi didn't tell?" Geez, if I killed someone, I wouldn't tell everyone and their dog!

Personally, I think Pelosi has too much yardage between goal posts, but that's only MHO.

Lisa, thanks for posting all of the links, they make for some good reading!!!!

WEEPING DRIVER DESCRIBES FINDING BODY
Says he and Theodore Ammon's partner investigated after they hadn't heard from him for two days

by Samuel Bruchey, staff writer

When the two men stepped inside Theodore Ammon's sprawling East Hampton mansion on Oct. 22, 2001, they had not heard from the millionaire venture capitalist in two days, and they had the feeling something was wrong.

"We called out 'Ted, Ted,' but nobody answered," Ammon's chauffeur, Milton Macias, testified in a Riverhead courtroom Monday....

GENEROSA THREATENED ME

by Kieran Crowley

Murdered millionaire Ted Ammon's family chauffeur yesterday revealed that Ammon's estranged wife twice cursed at him, threatened to break his leg and told him she'd make him and his family disappear if he didn't stop working for her husband.
Milton Macias, 62, of Manhattan, said that eight months before Ammon's October 2001 murder inside his East Hampton mansion, Generosa Ammon screamed at him outside the Stanhope Hotel on Fifth Avenue, where he arrived to pick up her twin children for a court-ordered visit with their father.

Ted Ammon, who was in the car, walked away....

FINDING OF BODY IN EAST HAMPTON MANSION IS DESCRIBED AT MURDER TRIAL
By PATRICK HEALY

RIVERHEAD, N.Y., Oct. 18 - The ivy-covered mansion on Middle Lane in East Hampton was quiet when R. Theodore Ammon's worried chauffeur and his business partner arrived to search for him in October 2001. They entered the house and yelled "Ted! Ted!" They saw his blinking cellphone on a kitchen counter, and at the top of a flight of stairs, they spotted his body....

BY ROBERT GEARTY and DAVE GOLDINER
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS

Ted Ammon's driver choked up on the witness stand yesterday as he recalled finding his boss' bloody body - and described bitter encounters with alleged killer Danny Pelosi.
Milton Macias, who said Ammon was like "a brother," brushed away tears as he remembered spotting the mogul's bludgeoned corpse in the master bedroom of his opulent East Hampton mansion....
