This article posted today says he was last seen at Grand Central. He was coming from Long Island, so maybe he was taking the F into the city and then was last seen at Grand Central?

Suffolk County police say Thomas Medlin, 15, from Saint James, left Stony Brook School at about 3:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9.

Being seen once and the photo is hopeful, although its been about 3 weeks time which is terrible too without contact.
I can't imagine him not contacting his parents for weeks on end if he was able to. That gaming site if its had other "victims" go missing needs to clearly clean up it's act. Is there any word on the people he was communicating with? I haven't seen it thus far.

Roblox has been trying to clean up its act though it’s only gotten worse. I’m not here to comment on it though.

Roblox has been trying to clean up its act though it’s only gotten worse. I’m not here to comment on it though.

Yeah, I agree. I haven’t seen anything else, though. I’m assuming that they’re currently doing investigations with LE BTS and that’s why they’ve not said anything since?

That is an interesting point.

With no evidence of a rapid return to lower Manhattan, my guess is that he misread the stops and got off too soon in lower Manhattan (misread what was the last, or one of the last stops in Manhattan verse the first stop in Brooklyn, and got off before he crossed under the river).

Realizing his mistake, he then re boarded, crossed the river, and got off in the Dumbo area of Brooklyn. I would not be surprised if cameras thin out the more one ventures into Brooklyn proper.

But.... where could a 15 year old kid be told to meet up? There is a multi generational famous ice cream parlor down by the river shore in the Dumbo area. There are also some multi generational pizza parlors.

Though nearly any place is easy to find with Google, the ice cream parlor and locally famous pizza joints come to mind as being especially convenient. Other convenient meet up locations could be internet cafes or gaming lounges.

New York City College of Technology (focusing on Entertainment Technology) is also in that neighborhood - literally a 1/2 block from the reported sighting at Jay / Sands Streets. The college from their website includes this messaging (bbm):

"Have you ever wondered who made all the magic happen at a live show, a video, or an interactive game?"

Interesting note about 'interactive games'...wondering if TM did interact with someone from Roblox or gaming in general that indicated or positioned themselves as a student/staff member and could show him how interactive games are created or give him a "behind the scenes" look into gaming, etc...just a thought or theory (imo).

I'm sure he is, there are cameras everywhere, and if you're traveling by subway they're unavoidable. heck even if you're traveling by uber or taxi, most drivers have cameras inside and outside of the car to protect themselves. I'm looking outside my apartment building right now and every building across the street also has a camera. In the few years I've lived in this spot, the police have knocked on my door four times to ask for my super's phone number so they can gain access to our security footage for various investigations.

NYC has an advanced and complex web of facial tracking cameras and software all throughout the city. I can't find a neutral source that is not taking a side on the topic so I won't share any links here, but there is very sophisticated technology in use and my hope is that they would prioritize it for missing children, not just drug busts and retail theft etc.

There must be some kind of digital footprint in this case though. Hopefully Thomas was not tech-savvy enough to completely erase his communications.
