Found Deceased NY - Trevyan Rowe, 14, autistic, Rochester, 8 March 2018

  • #21
Volunteers walked through nearby neighborhoods, knocking on doors. Volunteers were given maps with places to search and flyers to show neighbors what Trevyan looks like.

The family is worried about Trevyan as he is a quiet boy who will likely not reply to anyone who approaches him.

RPD called in its scuba team on Friday afternoon after seeing footprints near a pond in the park, an all-clear was issued late Friday afternoon.

The family urges the community to check their garages, sheds, unlocked cars, underneath cars, and to check trees — he loved to climb trees.

Are no staff members at the bus drop off to supervise students entering school in the morning?

Was thinking about this child today at work as I watched 4 year old Autistic girl dive into water table at school. They love the water! That is sooo scary. Does it decrease when they are older?

Apparently not.
And...the school should have notified the family that he didn't make it to school. My understanding is, the family did not receive any notification.

I have heard that a few times now about autism and water. Interesting. And worrisome!

At just after 5 p.m. on Thursday, a male called 911 and said he was lost in the graveyard. The family says it’s possible Trevyon has his brother’s cell phone in his pocket and that call came from him, that’s why much of the search Friday centered around Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Volunteers with Autism Up immediately are joining the search.

Evidence gathered throughout this investigation suggests they look for the 14-year-old in wooded areas, including Highland Park and Mt. Hope Cemetery.

The family asks if you see Treyvon to not ask if he’s in trouble or needs help, but to say his mom is looking for him and you can bring him to her then call 911.

I hope they are regrouping where to search for him now that the ping was negative. He could have gone anywhere at this point. I read his aunt said he loves video games, is there any place he loved to go to play? Pizza shop/arcade etc. Who's phone does he have? Can they ping that one? Praying for a "found safe" post.

It's not the 80s anymore, arcades are pretty much dead.

It's been two days now...I'm very concerned...maybe he misread the so called good intentions of a hostile person. Autistic people are not very good in reading the intentions of others. Poor guy. Let's hope he is found very, very soon

I just came from headquarters, I searched and went door to door today. Covered a lot of ground! There was an amazing cross section of people out looking for this young man.

There was a credible sighting of him at around noon today!! That was Law Enforcements exact words! I am very hopeful about this!! It was stated he was trying to avoid people, ducking in between cars, even running. And that the clothing matched (red shoes!) This would make sense that he would be scared...we were told that while searching. I drove through the Park ave area - where the hopeful sighting occurred - and there were police everywhere and search groups still out. I had to come home but this was a very promising lead.

I am more hopeful then when I went out this morning! Hoping for good news, it's a very busy area where the sighting was, lots of residences and businesses! And there is a large awareness in the community to keep an eye of for Trayvon!

Keeping my hopes up!

Hundreds came to the Al Sigl Center on Saturday to join the search for 14-year-old Trevyan Rowe, the teen with autism who has not been seen since Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, the Rochester Police Department has revealed that they are looking into several tips sent in to them, including one report that a threat was made against Rowe, although they would not go into any specific details.

True, but there are places like Dave & Busters, and some movie theaters have a few video games. A Walmart near me also has a small arcade area with some games and a few of those ride-on things for toddlers and preschoolers (ponies, cars etc).

Also, is his name spelled Treyvan or Trevyan? A mod may need to update the title.

Following, and every time I check I hope for positive news.
Bring him home safely!!! He must be so scared..

How does he act when he's scared? He might be hiding from people because he's scared. Or just walking and walking and walking. He's big, so I hope he is spotted soon. It's cold there. :(

I'm definitely not an authority on autism, but is it a good idea for them to catch the bus alone?

My thoughts precisely. I'm assuming he's higher functioning; however, he is still a special needs child, and why on earth does school #12 NOT have staff out there for their special needs kids making sure they get off the bus and into the school house safely???

And why didn't school #12 call Trevyan's parents to check up on him when he didn't show up for school?? Eight hours of search time in cold snowy conditions were lost!!

Interesting that rather than school #12 or the Rochester School District heading up the community search efforts, it's my own son's school (Mary Cariola) and Autism Up that are taking the lead here.

RPD's scuba team will "assess portions of the Genesee River to determine if it is safe and practical to conduct a search of possible areas where 911 callers that possibly observed someone matching Treyvan's description," Rochester Police Deputy Chief Mark Simmons said Saturday night at a press briefing.

Adult volunteers are asked to congregate at the Al Sigl building, door 5, from noon to 3 p.m. Volunteers will hand out flyers in high-traffic areas, but they will not participate in the grid searches.

Is there any bodies of water in the area he went missing from?

Yes, first, there's a pond next to his school (that SCUBA have been searching). He was also about 3 blocks away from Genesee River.
