Barbara Gottlock, a friend of Graswald and did volunteer work with her, was stunned by the arrest. She said that Graswald seemed to be "happy and in love" with her fiance. "She never said anything in my presence negative about him," she said.

Gottlock said she and her husband, whose home overlooks the water, remember seeing Graswald and Viafore just as they pushed their kayaks into the water from Bannerman's Island. "I could see a woman and a man out there, but I couldn't make out faces," Gottlock said. "We put two and two together and figured that's her. And then she sent a few pictures from the island before she left."

The Gottlocks keep a telescope in their living room; they said Graswald asked them to use it to search for her fiance's body before she was arrested.
Does anyone else find this odd? Sent pictures to whom? I wonder what was on those pictures.

What I find odd is how these persons, who by their own words could not at distance distinguish faces and had to surmise that one kayaker was Ms. Graswald, could tell they were "sending pictures," mobile devices being smaller than faces or heads.

Keep in mind the plug was found in their apartment. That doesn't tell us WHEN the plug was removed because she could've removed it on the day of the murder and kept it for some reason. Or, it could've been removed beforehand and left at home.

It is strange that he made it TO the island without incident and only capsized on the way back.

Yes, it's very strange. The whole plug thing is strange.
I couldn't remove my plug without cutting it. It has a stem for safety reasons, so you can't lose it. Theirs may be different.

Are you referring to the prosecution or the defense.

The defense of course, she didn't confess... she didn't know she was supposed to lie, instead of telling the truth.

How can the DA argue that she pulled the plug and it filled with water. The kayak never sank, as both were found that night! I don't get it!

I haven't read all this thread yet - nothing after your post so may repeat what others have said - but could she have put something into the kayak through the hole, which would have affected its ability to float, or to remain upright, or keep it steady? I'm not sure what, but is there something in a power or crystal form, which when mixed with water could solidify and then affect the balance? Probably too far fetched, as she must have realised that his kayak would be found/searched.

I find the scenario of people watching through a telescope a bit odd - especially with her asking to use it some time later to look for his body. Was she trying to establish exactly what they could have seen that night? And how did she know they had a telescope? If she knew them (and the fact they had a telescope set up to view that stretch of the water) before the night in question, why choose an area you knew might be under observation if you were going to commit a murder- unless she was setting herself up some witnesses, but failed to convince them that she was trying to save him.

Investigators “believe there are people out there who know more about this crime,” he said.

“There are people who may have seen the deceased and the defendant prior to going out on April 19,” he continued, “or know the circumstances regarding their relationship.”

Prosecutors have also said that Ms. Graswald intentionally capsized her own kayak to make it look as though she had tried to save him. Someone with firsthand knowledge of the rescue said that members of a local boat club were alerted to the couple’s distress, and that as they approached in their work boat, they saw her throw herself into the water.

Hoovler said authorities believe "there are people out there who may know more" about the day Viafore died, or circumstances of the couple's relationship. The police investigation is ongoing, and the DA's Office is asking anyone with information to come forward.

Portale said that opens the door for anyone seeking to "cash in" on their "15 minutes of fame," and he doesn't "think it's the way you should be prosecuting cases.

"Why doesn't the district attorney put an ad in the paper?" Portale added sarcastically.

Really? Not that I follow a lot of criminal cases, but I have seen this done before. How else are the investigators supposed to get word out that they are looking for witnesses--perhaps boaters that may have been out there with binoculars, birdwatchers at Plum Point (or anywhere along the Hudson in the area) with binoculars/scopes/cameras, and other people who may not stay up to date with the news and may not be aware that they observed something important before or after the crime? After all, the boaters from Cornwall Yacht Club on their way to help saw her intentionally enter the water. Maybe they stopped somewhere (gas station, restaurant, etc) and other customers might have observed something odd or nothing at all? That attorney seems to be grasping at straws. Perhaps he realizes that he, too, fell for her "story."

The defense might be referring to the man who recently made the claim that VV and AG were regular customers at a swingers club. The story was published in only one outlet and not picked up by other MSM as far as I can tell. The defense might be trying to distance his client from such stories and claim they are "solicited" and attract people looking for attention.

Just a hunch, not documented fact. JMO.

I find it very odd too and wonder if they were set up as witnesses - "Watch for us, we're kayaking to the island today!"

I also don't understand the statement that AG sent photos of the island later. Where did AG send photos of her last moments with VV??? That seems very significant.

Like others have said, I think LE knows more than they are releasing at this time.

I'm assuming the Telescoper saw the photos that AG sent. But where did she see them? Were they sent directly to her? And why was AG "sending" photos of the last place VV was alive? I'd love to know more about those photos.

If the photos were posted on social media, you'd think you'd use the word "posted" or "put photos online" or something. The word "send" makes me think AG emailed them to the Telescoper, though I admit that is a wild guess on my part.

I don't get the bolded part either. Such a strange statement.

I would also like to know what they were doing on the island for 2+ hours on a very cool day.

Sandra Westfall, a reporter for People Magazine, who has been covering this case, is aware of it. According to this tweet, she is following up on it (as of 21May15).

BBM there is a similar comment here:

I had suggested rocks in his storage hatch previously, because I just can't see how a little plug could have that effect, especially because he paddled out there with no problem.

Maybe AG was texting those folks? Are you home? We're paddling to the island, can you see us? Then sent them pics? IDK

My GUESS is that AG was taking photographs. I can imagine the place looked awesome on that cloudy day - all the more desolate and moody. The late afternoon provides good lighting for photography. I can't think of any other reason why VV would agree to a kayaking trip in that weather at that time of day other than going along with AG's desire to take photos - that was her excuse to get him on the water, imo.

Speculation. JMO.

Hey all

I asked earlier, but I guess no one saw it! :D Does anyone know "when" the next hearing might be?!

TIA!

Is there a way to know when the photos were actually taken ?
Am getting the feeling that there was alot of preplanning with Vincent's murder.

Do you mean the photos she supposedly took on the island that day? As far as I know, the only thing we know about them is the Telescope Person saying that AG "sent" photos she took on the island. No further information is known about the photos, though I'm guessing LE knows something about them.

I find it interesting that her Facebook profile hasn't been removed. In so many cases the accused's FB account disappears quickly after arrest, which I've always assumed was due to lawyers' recommendation to their clients. And her account seems like it would only work against her. Just some thoughts.

I still can't understand what's going trough AG mind. Apparently she deliberately took VV kayak plug out and kept it and took it home? Then she basically made incriminating statements to LE... that definitely doesn't make any sense, it sounds like she wanted to get caught?! Just MOO as usual.
