NY - Children told story about a girl being abducted from Newburgh

This is actually what I'm thinking.

I saw a show a few years back, 20/20 or Dateline. It was about how illegals are blackmailed by the people they pay to help smuggle them into the country once they are here. They threaten to report them, or hurt their family in Mexico if they don't give them more money. I was thinking kidnapping for ransom here. I hope that's not the case, but could you imagine being in the parent's position if it was?

A little o/t, but we did just recently have a case here, Melissa Duran. Her father owned a landscaping business and 2 disgruntled ex-employees kidnapped his daughter. After they were arrested and she was found safe (thank God), it was found that they had ties to human trafficking.

I live in SW Florida and almost all of the kids here can tell you not only race but of some country where they may be from. It is taught at an early age here.

We have children from Russia, Africa, Mexico, Sweden, Hati, Italy, Peru, Spain, Cuba, China, Japan and New Jersey and these kids can tell.

I lol'd with you putting NJ with the other countries. Yeah, dialect of our own haha! I can usually tell where a person grew up by their dialect as well, sometimes the outer appearance can be deceiving...especially for people that travelled or immigrated to a different country...

I have been searching for the last 45 mins on landscapers around that area - unfortunately none show pics of their work vehicles on the ones that do have websites.

in one of the videos one of the parents said she thought it was safe because she lived near a school.

(she also said she didn't think so now )

this is the city though... I could see where they might not know who she is

is it possible (keeping with this landscaping idea or something along those lines) that she was taken to work with the people and she someone got away?

if i am a drug addict, with a large drug debt, its possible that supervising my child is not my first priority.

But i see what you guys are saying: there were other children to choose- they chose this child, who the kids hadn't seen before - as if they knew she would be there.
