Obama Wants Longer School

  • #81
I would really really like to see some politician put the blame on some parents. They won't do that because they want the parents' votes.

One of the main things wrong with school kids today is that they do not respect the teachers. That's because they hear their parents bad mouthing education and the teachers every day.

It is no long like it used to be where parents would swat the kid if they heard that their precious one got in trouble at school. Now they talk about how stupid the rules are and why their precious one should not have to follow the rules.

Parents need to be held to the same standards as teacher are supposed to be held to.

Where is the test to see if you are qualified to be a good parent?

Everyone should have to take a course to be a parent!!! Dads too!!

Alot of mistakes could be avoided by understanding some simple child development and psychology.

I have to bite my tongue as my SIL tells his toddler to "eat all your yogurt" and loses his temper when he gets into something messy.

I'm afraid I'll say something soon.

Long school days? I don't think that is really the answer to fixing our education problems. We plan on homeschooling our toddler anyway. It will be interesting to see if this really does take place.

Since Obama made the comment about longer school days/school year/open on weekends, things have been pretty quiet. I haven't heard a lot of school districts joining the band wagon.
