I finally got a copy of Amanda Lamb's book, "Deadly Dose" from the library, where I was on the reserve list for the past several weeks. I'm about halfway through the book now; it's SO GOOD! She's a great writer and I didn't know very much about the Ann Miller case as I didn't follow it closely. I'm really enjoying this book and highly recommend it to anyone interested in true crime, esp. a case that happened right in Raleigh.

Of note is that there is some good info given about the personalities of both Colon Willoughby and Assistant DA, Howard Cummings, which is helpful considering both are involved in the Cooper case.

The book confirms how conservative and cautious and slow the Wake County DA is in approaching murder cases. In the Ann Miller case the investigators were biting the bit to arrest her, but the DA's office held them off for YEARS because they didn't have enough evidence to get beyond reasonable doubt to prove to a jury (in the DA's opinion). Once they did, they went forward.

Thanks for the thoughts/prayers...I appreciate it. Of course, what the heck am I going to do with 2 girls? I won't kill my wife...that's for sure. But I am seriously considering building a building out back and letting my wife and daughters take over the house. My only saving grace will be that my oldest will be heading to college by the time the youngest reaches puberty. I'm not sure I could handle that. :)

I send you my best wishes for tomorrow NCSU!! :)

Her name will be Carly, and thank you.
Absolutely love the name!

The name Carly has a special place in my heart...because of an wonderful experience I had 11 yrs ago.

An attractive blond and her husband came into WW Cary to have their 1st child. Very sweet, and courteous the entire time, but she wouldn't disclose the baby's name, it was :silenced:
Her parents arrived and just as much a joy to have. Her dad stood out to me. I told him I loved his pink shirt, and how I loved pink on a man wishing more would wear it. He gleamed saying it was appropriate for his new granddaughter's arrival. He was sweet to each one of us. He even slipped out to HT during the night to get us all food. While he was gone she told us her dad wasn't her biological father, her biological father was killed when she was a few months old. He married her mother when she was 2, and treasured her like a child of his own. We had NO clue what this was leading to.

The baby girl was born, only moments old and we were asked to called her dad back in, (mom stayed during the birth). He came in glowing, tears began flowing while looking at the beautiful baby lying in the incubator.

The baby got wrapped in blankets, her husband held her a moment, then she asked for her dad to hold the baby. She thanked Carl for helping raise her, treating her every moment like she was his own, etc... She then said, "I didn't have a son to name Carl after you dad, but a daughter. Dad, meet CARLY, after you Carl.

Good luck today! Wishing you and your family a healthy and safe delivery!

:blowkiss:

What a sweet story and a lovely name.

Congrats NSCU and good luck in the "house of estrogen"! Spend some time in the bathroom now - because you sure as heck won't get to do it in a few years. :-)

NCSU, life will be fun! With two girls you can do lots of "man fun" things. Teach them water sports to do on family vacations. Join Y-Indian Princess program, which will pair you and daughter on many memorable occasions, trips and fun. (Our kids were in the Y-Indian program with their dad...it's a child/dad thing. They are grown now with many memories of Camp SeaGull/Seafarer visits, dad included, zip lines are fun, there's much more). What else? Love. You get lots of love!

When they approach 11 or so, try to ignore the eye-rolling "oh DAD!" comments. When you make it through the middle-school years, I think it gets better. We will be grandparents before long. I secretly want a grandson. Shhhhh. Don't tell my daughter!

And remember: Pampers are much cheaper than prom dresses, orthodontia and college.:gift::gift::cloud9:

That is too funny, but so true!

That is too funny, but so true!

It is funny Mom and like you said true indeed. My hubby was the only male in our household and all jokes aside, he made it fine and was/is quite happy...I think....I hope  Although I do recall when our kids were growing up he looked at house plans quite seriously for a small little cottage to build in the back of our property just for himself when he needed refuge.

We even had/have female pets...go figure.

I read an article not too long ago about how many men are now including a "man" room either within their homes or detached from the house. It is decorated as they like it (usually sparsily; including leather somewhere and of course a wide-screened TV) and is off-limits to the rest of the household. The article was about how men need to "cave". So, there you go NCSU...it's time to build that "man" room.

What's for dinner in the Wake Co. jail tonight? Road kill chili with stale crackers, canned green english peas, water. Take note Jason Lynn Young. Mamma won't be bringing you any fried chicken and biscuits with gravy. Ask Brad Cooper if he misses his wine, gourmet meals with the neighbors, and his green juice. Take note also: the toilet paper has splinters. The toilet has no privacy wall. No carpets for your cold feet either. Prison underwear has to be special too. No girls from France, no sex in the closet that you "...can't recall" whether you kissed on the mouth or whatever parts.

Jason Young, make sure Mamma visits you while you are in jail. Will she bring Cassidy and tell her why you are there? Oh wait, she knows why. "Daddy did it".

Will Bradley Cooper get a visit from his daughters when they are older (if he hasn't gotten the DP by then)? Will they ask him why he killed their mom? Will they even want to see him?

When my next door neighbor moved in a few years ago with his wife, 2 daughters, mother-in-law and a female dog he built a 'lair' immediately! LOL

My husbands bf has 3 daughters from a previous marriage, his current wife has 3 daughters. YEP, he just built a 'man cave'. :)

My husband's office was in our finished basement for many years. That is, til the water pipes burst, the office was ruined, the ceilings fell in, computers were swamped. Now his man cave is in the finished attic space. He loves it. Here we have all this nice home, and he wants to "live" in his "cave". I feel lonely!:violin:

I must admit, it's nice up there. He has his special soft leather recliner to sleep in when he's "watching TV", all of his computer gadgetry, a nice office chair, several remotes for the TV, plenty of dental floss (ha ha, I see to that), and an intercom so I can talk to him without climbing the stairs. It's his work computer, so I know he isn't being "naughty" :online: on the computer. I've always got his laptop in my room! My room must be my woman cave.:chillpill::rolling:

Now, back to reality....

Carly was born this morning at 11:18 am. She weighed 8 lbs, 9 oz and was 20 inches long. Mom and baby are doing great (she's latching well and has pooped twice so far...so she's obviously full of crap like her dad). Dad is freaking out now that I know I won't have access to a bathroom again for the next xx years. We arrived this morning at about 6:45 to be induced...but labor actually started naturally. So it was great timing. Fairly quick labor and delivery.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers everyone.

Awwww.....she's just adorable! Welcome to the world, Carly!!!! I'm so glad things went well.

Now, NCSU, go get some sleep!

Aww, NCSU, that's cute. (Glad your wife got to pass on the induced labor. Whew. I had one of those without "drugs").

Now see, NCSU, you are a very normal, proud dad. You have been telling us about your daughters, the upcoming birth, the time of birth, length at birth and how many poops she's already taken. I bet Brad Cooper never did that. I wonder if he was even there to drive NC to the hospital? Yes. Counting newborn poops on the first day of life is the sign of a dedicated dad!

Precious, beautiful children! You "done good", NCSU!! Good for you. If I remember correctly, you should be on a major high all day today; a well deserved feeling of elation.
I am thankful that everything went well.

As you may have read, in your absence yesterday, we solved all your problems. We've decided you need a "man cave". So get to building! Let us know if you need any suggestions....(uh....I forgot, women are not allowed input. :-)
