I finally got a copy of Amanda Lamb's book, "Deadly Dose" from the library, where I was on the reserve list for the past several weeks. I'm about halfway through the book now; it's SO GOOD! She's a great writer and I didn't know very much about the Ann Miller case as I didn't follow it closely. I'm really enjoying this book and highly recommend it to anyone interested in true crime, esp. a case that happened right in Raleigh.
Of note is that there is some good info given about the personalities of both Colon Willoughby and Assistant DA, Howard Cummings, which is helpful considering both are involved in the Cooper case.
The book confirms how conservative and cautious and slow the Wake County DA is in approaching murder cases. In the Ann Miller case the investigators were biting the bit to arrest her, but the DA's office held them off for YEARS because they didn't have enough evidence to get beyond reasonable doubt to prove to a jury (in the DA's opinion). Once they did, they went forward.
