@Mack the Knife thank you for transcribing the 911 call.

I hate this guy (CF).

CF says AF has two gun shots to the head but is also claiming the room is pitch black and the doors are locked. He never mentions hearing gun shots. He's apparently left the locked bedroom because he knows the garage door is open and mentions it more than once.

He stays in the bedroom, in the dark, w/ maybe the intruder in the house that just killed his wife. To me it sounds like someone could be in the home to kill the entire family. His children - zero priority.

“I rubbed her leg and said her name, she’s not answering.” Like she's just sleeping and he wants to gently wake her up. That's not how one would typically respond to seeing catastrophic head trauma. Operator tells him to get a towel, no pressure and CF says "I laid it on her head".

Vague - "I was with the children when it happened". Really? What is "it". ? Again, does not describe hearing anything.

When LE arrives the hysteria drops (he's relieved to be done with the 911 operators questions) and becomes more functional.

"Sir Sir Sir" (like his car is broke down on the side of the road and Triple A just showed up).

IMO

Another thing to consider when listening to CF's 911 call and many people don't know this. Most 911 systems begin recording as soon as the call connects to dispatch, which can be before the caller hears the operator speak. Considering this as potential, listen to the start of the call again before the operator speaks.

It is common for people in a crisis to escalate their emotions when they are speaking about the events. But, I just hear a small sigh before dispatch speaks, then he get's right into his bizarre hysteria.

Again, there is so much to unpack in this disaster of a 911 call. IMO

It reminds me of the Ryan Widmer 911 call back in 2008. Jmo

I know one article referred to this being an hours long investigation... I wouldn't be surprised if it was more like minutes.

Yep.

- Listened to 911 call
- Entered house
- Endured overwrought, dissembling, self-aggrandizing monologue from clearly guilty husband
- Eeny, meeny, miny, moe'd probable scenario, evidence of same and its likely location
- Managed warrants and assured safety of children
- Executed arrest
- Ignored feeble, self-serving denials thereafter

This may have been an emotionally complex -- sad, awful, maddening, despairing -- case, but the puzzle pieces were all there and in exactly the right places, awaiting only the legal stamps.

For shame, former pastor, husband and father. For shame.

A high school friend of mine shot and killed his wife while she slept. He was having an affair with a coworker who he promised he would marry. His story was that someone broke in and killed his wife before he arrived home from his late night airport job. He was a former policeman. I have no idea why he thought he could get away with it. He confessed after several hours of questioning, was sentenced to 60 years and was released after serving 30 years. I would never have thought he would have done this.

Am I understanding that it was CF's gun? That the "intruder" took from CF's truck console? 😂

CF: My daughters are in the bedroom over there, they're still asleep
LEO: Are you sure? <unintelligible>
<unintelligible>
CF: Oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god
<a lot of indistinguishable noises that are probably a combination of LEOs, the police radio, Caleb, and possibly his daughters>
<call ends>

Transcriber's gripe: Reels are very annoying to transcribe!

Brilliant -- many thanks. Could not have listened to that one without chucking something and am in clinic today...

Kudos to the dispatcher, imagine eyes were rolling throughout, and to LE for a seemingly quick, clean wrap-up.

Is it time for a "divorce can suck, but it's better than..." PSA?

  • #251
Yeah, I don't see this guy as the type who is going to confess to anything. He is going to make the state work for his conviction, denying until the end, but I suspect he had GSR on him when checked, and LE may have found the gun at the home and matched it to the bullets that killed AF. As to possible motive, if there is another love interest in the picture, and I suspect there likely may be, someone knows about it, and if they don't already, LE soon will. JMO
Emphasis mine.
Yes indeed.
And even if he wore gloves I'm thinking LE were using the heavy equipment to dig up anything he may have discarded ?
Imo.

From the limited details we have, it really seems like he was a complete idiot if he thought he was going to get away with this. His story is extremely unbelievable, his barely seemed to try to cover his tracks, his call to 911 was ridiculous. I feel like he had planned to do this for a while so is he just that dumb to not try to come up with a better crime that wouldn’t be figured out in a matter of days/hours? Ugh, I feel so terribly for his daughters and RIP Ashley.

Ew. Give me a break.

Ashley Flynn murder case: Husband’s attorney questions thoroughness of investigation

Oh my goodness.
I get it that CF needs proper representation as would we all.
But his atty.'s going to have an uphill road with this loser and the swiftness of LE identifying him as the perp. !
Omo.

Ew. Give me a break.

Ashley Flynn murder case: Husband’s attorney questions thoroughness of investigation

It’s disturbing the speed at which this occurred,” said defense attorney L. Patrick Mulligan of Dayton law firm Moermond & Mulligan who is representing Caleb Flynn. “I question the thoroughness” of the investigation.

that is rich indeed. I question his client's grey matter. very ill conceived plan start to finish. Of course it was a speedy arrest, his client isn't the brightest of God's children  MOO

Am I understanding that it was CF's gun? That the "intruder" took from CF's truck console? 😂
That was certainly the implication. Do we know that the gun was actually found? On the court document, it states for firearm, '9mm handgun', no make or model, which makes me wonder if it was actually recovered, or whether they just knew that from shell casings left at scene.

@Mack the Knife :
Thank you for transcribing this !
Much appreciated.

Lol at the dispatcher referring to CF as "Ma'am". 🤣

Re. the bolded bit : Hmmm... A slip of the tongue, perhaps ?
He wasn't expecting to have to answer questions because he was, you know, distraught ?
Jmo.

Eta : Also from the 911 call, the dogs' barking was barely heard if at all, but increased when he said "Sir, sir, sir"; as in -- they barked when strangers pulled up to the house ?

Imo.

I have a relative that every time they do something despicable excuses it by saying, "but God wants me to be happy". I think this guy is similar. It's a lifetime of grandiosity fueled by his religious narcissism. That's my take.
Thank you for that comparison... That helps me understand better how his insane mind could lead to this.. Wow.

  • #259
his high pitched fake distressed crying hyperventilating act served only to make the dispatcher believe they were talking with a female. Ma'am? ma'am. What an awful human CF is.
I heard someone with very high pitched screaming one time.. They were having a psychotic break. Wouldn't surprise me if after his lawyers say it looks too bad to plead not guilty, the sicko pleads insanity.

“I just want to take care of my daughters. I’m not a risk.” he told the judge. 😡

Arraignment video:
What worries me is with the way some judges can rule these days, they actually let him do that. I don't think any judge could be so incredibly dumb, but you never know.
