I wonder how old the toilets are in that restaurant. I know some old toilet tanks were large. I wonder if Ashley was concealed in a old, large toilet tank. Horrible.

RIP Ashley [emoji257]

Her "mother" looks like a zombie...I'm not sure if she's in shock or just does not care about what she has done
Her "father" looks like he is in waaay over his head

I'm thinking they had to hide her in the roof...there are not many other places she could have been

Or in some kind of pipe?

Have only been reading silently so far. This case is heartbreaking. Poor Ashley. May she rest in peace and fly happy and free!

I've been catching up on the posts. This story is truly heartbreaking. The poor little girl. IMO I've seen the back in a few Chinese restaurants and takeaways. I'm not sure how different the practices are in the UK and US but they have these big boxes where they keep prawn crackers. When they said her body was concealed it would be an interesting spot as I can't imagine LE looking directly in the food. And a child her size could be easily concealed until they could move her. Just MHO.

I've also thought of food storage. Chinese kitchens order alot of stuff in bulk. Also I have seen huge prep tubs filled with pre-prepared food. My mind went there as well. I read early the first day someone on SM claimed they were told she was in the duct system. (Which might explain the paper on the front if she was in celling). Ugh. This poor child.

While I'm here, no way did two punches to the head kill her. (While not impossible) I'm thinking we will find out more after autopsy. I wonder if it wasn't her fists she used, or if there were additional injuries. 😞

IMO . It's just sad they would go through so much effort to hide her rather than get help. I will say one thing that stands out to me is the 'green fluid' coming from her mouth. I don't know too much about brain injuries but I did my best to research it but cant see what the connection was. Unless she was already sick. When the restaurant page kept mentioning the mother being sick, maybe it was the little girl who was sick a lot and they needed to look after her. But stated it was the mother to avoid suspicions. WHat if the mother hit the girl but she had a weakened immune system, or was to weak to handle the abuse leading to her death. This is just MO.

A father called 911 to say that his five-year-old daughter was missing before her body was found stuffed in the wall of the family's Chinese restaurant.

Liang Zhao, 34, called authorities on Monday to say that he couldn't find his daughter who had been asleep the last time she was seen.

I am not doubting this is a possibility, but have you found this bolded info anywhere else? I can only find this one report so far, yet the article also states "Jackson Township police haven't provided details on how she was hidden. "

It makes me wonder if the article is truly accurate. I do believe the Daily Mail is not always our best source for accuracy, but I may be wrong.

If true, it reminds me of Annie Le, student murdered in lab at Yale and her body was found in the wall.

A question I have is WHY did they even bring her to the restaurant?
It just doesn't make sense. But then, the whole thing doesn't make much sense to me anyway.

I have not seen it anywhere else other than the DM article. I'll continue to look around though.
Being local, I have heard that she was found in some type of an "air duct" inside of the restaurant and also that she was found in a place that she would've never been discovered.

MOO

I'm having trouble reconciling two photos of the layout of the restaurant.

In this photo, the counter appears to be just beyond the door:

See very next post for the other photo . . .(site would not let me include both photos in same post for some reason)

In this photo, the counter appears to be about 20 feet beyond the door:

What am I missing here?

Maybe the second pic in second photo is not the actual restaurant? The first pic clearly shows the parents just inside the door, behind the counter.

There is more information in this article.

The article that perfectingpink linked stated that her head was hit against the floor twice. IMO that could explain the injuries.

http://www.kltv.com/story/34254706/...urder-investigation-of-5-year-old-ashley-zhao

"Friday morning, it was confirmed by police officials that Jackson Township Police Chief Mark Brink was no longer taking calls or conducting interviews with members of the media regarding the case. The Stark County Prosecutor's office said Friday that they want to make sure the case stays in Stark County and that there would be no issues seating a jury."

(JMO, but that leads me to believe the information related to her life and death is really bad. If they are already worried about the info impacting a jury.)

"... but no one has claimed the body of little Ashley Zhao as of late Friday morning. Funeral or memorial services also remain unknown."

(How horrible. WTF is going on inside this family? Poor Angel.)

It's just perspective and the angle from which they took the picture. It's not actually right inside the door from the pictures I've seen. (Go to review websites, there are customer pictures you can look at.)

ETA: This past article which was a business spotlight has some pictures that give a good idea. http://www.ourtownnorthcanton.net/business-spotlight-angs-chinese-restaurant/

It just doesn't make sense. But then, the whole thing doesn't make much sense to me anyway.

IMO her death may have been far worse. There could have been a lot of blood etc. If they said she went missing at home they may have found the blood splatter. They moved her to a place where they thought it would be difficult to find her. Poor girl. I hope her sister is taken in by a loving family. Although I did read in one of the articles posted here they were hoping to place her with relatives. Hopefully they will be better to her than her parent/s.

When my brother passed away as a adult in his mid 30s my father wouldn't leave his side once he entered the funeral home. They had to beg him to leave for abit to prepare my brother. My dad just didn't want him alone. So sad no one has claimed her. That broke me. If I could I would. :(

The pick is super zoomed. I think it's just a trick of the camera making the counter look so close to the front door.

Edited to add that I see this has been addressed up thread.😊

A spokesperson for the New York Law Firm that represented MingMing Chen said that she was ordered to be deported by the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in December 2012, the highest court to which she could have appealed to stay in the United States.

Court records show Chen applied for asylum in early 2009 based on her religion, political opinion, and membership in a "particular social group" explaining she practiced Falun Gong, a Chinese spiritual practice for which she claimed individuals were persecuted by the Chinese government.

An immigration judge determined that Chen was not credible based in part on inconsistencies between her testimony, written submissions, and supporting evidence and ordered her removed to China.

During the appeal in 2012, court records show that Chen claimed after she fled China her brother was arrested for the same practice.

She also claimed to have been detained in an education camp for one month, and that she owed an aunt $20,000 to repay money loaned to pay a person referred to as a "snakehead" who smuggled her into the United States.

Her final appeal for asylum was denied in 2012 and according to the law firm that represented her in the case, Chen was ordered to be deported and was expected to be deported immediately.

Her attorneys said she was notified, but they could not explain why she was still in the United States.

I think the current policy is she should go to US prison first and then if ever gets out then deported this time for real.

Its so upsetting reading this.
I have no problem with LEGAL immigration but when illegal immigrants start to commit crimes like murder of their children or murder of other US citizens then this shows that the problem of illegal immigration can have serious consequences.

"could not explain why she was still in the United States."

I can tell you exactly why she was still in the US. Its because we dont enforce immigration laws.

People trying to enter the US illegally treat it as a big joke. They are not afraid of ICE or US LE because its a big joke to them. Its just a big game.

ANY country has a right to enforce their immigration policies and its far time the US starts to do that. The laws are there for a good reason. They need to limit numbers to affordability of what the states can afford in way of funds and housing needs and host of other issues. So its not just to be mean or anything. There are reasons why limits are placed on numbers who can enter legally each year.

This lady needs to be put in prison for murder and if she ever gets out then she needs to be deported back. Husband should go to prison for helping accessory after the fact unless he too helped murder the child.

This is so upsetting because she should not have been here. It may not have stopped her from killing her kid though as she could have done that anywhere.

What concerns me more about illegal immigration is uninsured motorists which is a huge problem near the border states. So so so many driving without insurance and a lot without drivers licenses too.

When you get wrecked by one of them then you are in serious trouble trying to get funds to pay for your medical bills or your vehicle. That to me is the most serious issue we face with illegal immigration. I know this for a fact because I have had personal experience with a wreck with an illegal immigrant and learned a lot about this issue.

She committed a more serious crime than that although if someone is killed in a vehicular manslaughter accident then it can feel like they were murdered if the person should not have been driving and didnt have insurance and should not have been in the US to begin with.

Ugggggg. Just so upsetting this case.
