more background:

Thank you!

"They looked so nice," said Kirk Klusty, who lived in the same apartment building as Zhao, Chen and their daughters. "They seemed like good people."

I see that a lot!! "I had no idea..." "They couldn't have done it...." Etc. Etc.

One of the articles JerseyGirl posted today stated "Ashley's remains have been cremated and turned over to relatives from New York."

It just feels to me the little girl is not even being given much respect still..... why so long for the relatives to take care of a burial or other arrangements?

The delay could have been the fault of the investigation. It would help to know when they released her body. I don't recall seeing that.

I don't think it likely to be the fault of the investigation. According to an article posted here on January 13 (reported missing on the 9th; body found Jan. 10)), her body had not been claimed.

["... but no one has claimed the body of little Ashley Zhao as of late Friday morning. Funeral or memorial services also remain unknown."/QUOTE]

What I don't fully understand is, why did they leave the body in the resturant? What were they planning on doing with it in the resturant? Where they planning on keeping it there, what was the purpose off this. This child died from being struck in the head seven times, it is quiet possible these hits might have exacerbated a previous injury. I say this because of the vomit. Usually, previous head injuryies that have been unattended, can cause vomit and then death. Some symtoms of head unattended injuries include: Passingout, unresponsiveness, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, nause and vomitting, confushion and difficulty walking. It seems more likely this child was suffering from one or more of these symtoms-- when mom got mad, because of the childs unresponsiveness? The police, I am sure, will check the other child for previously healed injuries-- and most likely will find them. At this point nothing the parents say can be trusted. It really doesn't matter which parent actually hit the child, she is gone they are not. Justice needs to be served and both parents should be put in prision. So it only makes sense to come at this as an act of violence against an innocent child, not PPD. Its a shame because parents that really have PPD aren't belived because of murdering parents like these! If it was PPD, why did they try to hide the body. Look at the pictures of the preliminary hearing and mugshots, you'd never know their child was just MURDERED!

I have a feeling the mother did this, the father filed the missing persons report only to find out the mother had harmed their child. Then out of some kind of misplaced loyalty he helped her hide the body.

The missing report wasn't called in until after 9:00 that night. The father knew all along the child wasn't missing. He apparently didn't have anything to do with the injuries that caused her death, but he discovered her unconscious with green vomit on her, cleaned her up in the bathroom, and attempted CPR to which she was unresponsive. He knew she had been harmed before they called and reported her missing.

Yes, the father knew all right!
I went back to find the post where the parents actions in her death were described but finally found the actual link instead.

I have a feeling they were waiting for the heat to die down, then remove AZ's body under the cover of darkness to be disposed of. They didn't expect the body to be discovered. JMO though.

Do we know where she was hidden yet or any info on manner of death?

No. They said they are keeping as many details they can under wraps. They don't want to risk prejudicing a jury, because they want to see them tried in their county. (there is a link to an msm article w/ this info a few pages back. I'm just popping in, don't have time to find it. Sorry!)

He knew. I believe this is why Liang Zhao was charged with complicity to commit felonious assault and complicity to commit murder.

The father's case is closed, but the mother's is still open. Did Liang Zhao reach a plea agreement? He was charged with murder. Will he still be tried on the other charges (e.g., endangering children, tampering with evidence, obstruction of justice and gross abuse of a corpse) or were those charges dropped as part of the plea agreement?
