Well, that's disappointing. I was convinced from the beginning that his mother killed him. I'm now re-convinced. Sad, sad story.

“Brian Michael Rini has been identified as the 24-year-old man who claimed to be Timmothy Pitzen on April 3. On April 4, the FBI confirmed that his DNA did not match with that of Pitzen, who disappeared in 2011 and hasn’t been seen since.

Rini’s motives are currently unclear.

Rini was arrested in Medina, Ohio 2015 for making false alarms involving a law enforcement agency, according to a local Ohio newspaper.

Ok Sluethers, who is this boy!?

The man's name is published. I did the FB thing. Dormant account from 2014. No friends.

Something is still very off here. I hope whatever it is, he gets help.

He is a 24 year old man. I don't know why in the world he would do something like this. He must have some problems.
What a disappointment for the family.

Teen in Cincinnati is not missing Aurora boy Timmothy Pitzen, FBI says
“A local investigation continues into this person’s true identity,” a subsequent tweet from the Louisville FBI office read. “To be clear, law enforcement has not and will not forget Timmothy, and we hope to one day reunite him with his family. Unfortunately, that day will not be today.”

Aurora police spokesman Sgt. Bill Rowley also released a statement that reads, in part: “Although we are disappointed that this turned out to be a hoax, we remain diligent in our search for Timmothy, as our missing person's case remains unsolved.”

More info to come.

The only positive to come out of this is more people now know about his case. As I've always stated, I believe he's somewhere in Northwestern Illinois near the Mississippi River.

Yes, it becoming more and more convincing to me that this young man is very mentally ill pulling stunts like this. I hope they put him in a place where he can get professional help for his issues.

Devastated for Timothy's family and friends. Even if they knew it was very unlikely, it'd have to spark hope. They spent a day and a half considering the impossible dream might be true.

This seemed like it was going to be such welcome news. I'm exhausted by national events and this was a ray of hope. Still, I will take comfort in the heroism of the people who helped a person who said he was in distress.
