TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -Toledo Police say one and a half year old Elaina Steinfurth is still missing.

Sunday afternoon, her dad Terry came to the home of his estranged wife Angela in East Toledo to pick up Elaina for a routine visit.

They hope someone will spot the girl, who was last seen wearing orange shorts with flowers.

Sunday afternoon, her dad Terry came to the home of his estranged wife Angela in East Toledo to pick up Elaina for a routine visit.

He says the couple is now in the middle of a bitter divorce battle and Angela wants custody of the girl.

"Her mother refused to give her to me. She went in the house. Was in there 15-20 minutes, came out saying that the baby was missing," said Mr. Steinfurth.

Angela Steinfurth told Toledo News Now she believes Elaina was kidnapped.

"Her boyfriend disappeared out the back door during this time. I don't know if he took her or where she's at right now," said Mr. Steinfurth.

The boyfriend refused to talk to Toledo News Now.

The little girl was reported missing at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. According to family members, Elaina's father went to the Federal Street home to pick her up, when he discovered she wasn't there.

Angela ' trustnoone' sure trusted a strange man around her child, eh? I'm hoping she's got the baby hidden to keep her from dad since the custody battle is mentioned. I sure hope that is all !

OT But when it comes to the small ones' on ws, I try to go back and see when the light left their eyes in their pictures . Does that have any connection to a new person in their life or a new experience, divorce , move, etc. Sometimes their eyes tell the whole story. When did mom move in with the bf ?

Police responding to a call of a missing child arrived at the residence about 3 p.m. and were told that Terry Steinfurth, the girl's father, had gone to the address to pick up his two daughters, a 4-year-old and a 1 1/2-year-old, but was allowed access to the 4-year-old only, police said.

Police said Mr. Steinfurth then left and picked up his father to be a go-between to keep things peaceful, with Ms. Steinfurth finally agreeing to allow him to have Elaina.

Ms. Steinfurth, police said, then went inside for 20 to 25 minutes only to come back stating that Elaina had been sleeping in the front bedroom but was now missing. The woman's live-in boyfriend, Steven King, Jr., had gone out of the back door, supposedly to look for the girl, police said.

SK changed his relationship status on Facebook on May 27 (with Angela). Also, it appears that the home is his. The address is his on tax records and court documents.

We've been gone from Toledo for 10 years, but E. Toledo is a very low income area, with many of the crime problems associated with that.
But reading the online Toledo Blade article and the local TV stations, the father sounded like he was trying to rationally handle the situation- getting his own father to intervene.

I hope so, but it is baffling why it was okay for the 4 y/o to go with dad. I pray this isn't another Sky Metalwala situation.

I just don't k ow if I can handle yet ANOTHER missing 1year old baby last seen by parents. Why are there SO many of these cases?! How does this keep happening?! It's so infuriating, so frustrating. I don't understand.

I thought that too, but did you see Surfie's link above? There are 2 children between this mom and dad and they did give dad the 4 yr old. So if you want to keep the kids away , why give him one? This really makes me nervous that they were unable to hand her over

SK has a son too. He seems to be about 3 or 4 now (based on his FB pictures). Not sure if it is relevant but I thought I would mention it. He seemed like he adored his son with lots of pictures and play time, doing fun stuff, etc. I went through the court records and he really doesn't seem to have much in the way of criminal activity or stalking protection orders, just some debt and tax problems.
