GUILTY OH - Elaina Steinfurth, 17 months, Toledo, 2 Jun 2013 - #4

I've been looking at our maps made by great members here. Does anyone remember who the local was who said she saw buzzards around the Hollywood Casino? I wonder if she ever called that into the police?

I'm not familiar with the Maumee at all, but isn't that casino just downriver of the bridge that's in the new story?

I always wondered how Angela knew about that diaper at the river Imho, the story is at least largely true.


If I were a local, I'd search the shore by the casino (buzzards), and I'd probably search under the bridge that takes 75 across the river, too, for good measure. She could have lied about which bridge if the diaper ends up being a plant.

She could have lied about a lot of things, but we have to be hopeful that there are some good leads that come out of this info, imho.

Did you see a woman on baby Elaina's social media site saying she heard info about Elaina? She said she has heard a lot of things but the person does not want to call LE due to multiple warrants. Maybe you could try to contact her?? I don't know what I'm allowed to write on this site....

Also, I have been an RN for 7 years. AS's comment about needing to "be kept comfortable" is an expression that is VERY familiar to me. Many patients use this term, and those patients are usually one of two things: 1. Hospice patients or 2. Drug Seekers. Very telling of possible heroin or pill abuse.

Praying for that sweet girl and hoping you read this and contact this woman on FB.

BBM Yep. That is why I think 'only Steven could help' that night she begged to stay. I also think she is leading LE on a wild goose chase with the river. She is trying to keep the search away from where Elaina really is to give time for decomposition. IMO Sorry Ferretmommy.

TJ was just driving down Valleywood and RS threw a snow shovel at his car. TJ got out, they ezchanged words. TJ does not/did not even own a gun! RS LIES to whomever will get him the results he wants.

An example: RS called TJ's supervisor at his job and told them that TJ "beat the crap out of Angela and broke her arm". Not true, he was just trying to get him fired! It was verified that he did not do anything to her. RS is just an evil man whose main interest is (beside his "buddy") is to try to make everyone's life HELL.

And a restraining order works BOTH ways, RS is not allowed near TJ either. After the crap at the courthouse yesterday, if RS comes near him, TJ will have him arrested.

OMG sounds like RS is out of control! Or close to that.. especially with the things released tonight. Both of them have to get past their differences right now for the sake of this case, and Elaina and what may have gone on with her! Its a horrible thought for us who dont even know the family let alone the horror going through all these ppls minds thinking Elaina may very well be somewhere we dont want to think of. Im so sorry you and your family are going through this FM! That feuding stuff has to stop! For everyones sake! Poor K too, theyre very aware -even at 4yrs old.. so heartbreaking!!

They just have to find her soon I can't believe they can't get much out of these other folks.

They are going down with or without the baby found. Too much has been said already for them to expect this to go OK for them! The neighborhood knows too much already and are talking. They should all try to be the first to make a deal if they are as self-serving as I think they are. Of course, they should do it for Elaina, but I know they are thinking of themselves.

Maybe tomorrow. Come home, Elaina.

This story was posted within a comment a day or so ago on one of the news websites for the area. I don't remember which site, I believe it was on northwestohio.com with the story from a third person about what SK said happened that night and that morning. One poster wrote this very same thing, not so much detail, that we are all seeing here now. I find it shocking that the family or some of the family members be completely in the dark about this. That's unfortunate and I'm not sure what could have been done to stop it.

If this story is the truth - and I'm not sure I'd believe anything that comes out of AS's mouth - then why is SK not in jail? To me that's very telling. If he's under suspicion, especially now, I can't see the police letting him be a risk of taking off. I think this mother is weaving the truth to make it look like someone else did it when in fact she is the one who did the harm to Elaina.

I'm sick of these stories of parents doing these things to their children. More resources need to be spend in following up on suspicions and people need to not be afraid to 'interfere' when it comes to children's lives. My God, this tears at me. This did not have to happen. If it's true that family services or whatever they are called in Ohio, we in fact called, then more investigation needs to be done about what they found. This just sickens me.

The Toledo Free Press is reporting that the FBI received information from a relative of Angela Steinfurth's cellmate at the Lucas County Jail implicating Steinfurth and Steven King, Steinfurth's ex-boyfriend.

Last couple of days, I have been following along, but don't have anything to add. I am shocked and sad baby Elaina has not been found yet.
Ferret, my heart is with you and your family during these extremely difficult times.

@skye etal. the story is one story of the many heard in the last week both here and on tv. last night SK's cousin put her story out there about SK being innocent while AS went in and out of the house all morning. RS has repeatedly said that SK and Mike took the baby etc etc. all these stories have one thing in common, they are alleged until proven otherwise. Ferretmommy didn't need to see it here she would have heard it this evening from a number of sources. I spoke with TJ and his gf tonight and they are still planning on a search day tomorrow. his bio mom spoke with me and said she would continue to believe that Elaina is alive until she sees proof otherwise. the free press story is a factual retelling of the facts as told to him by someone willing to identify themselves and provide proof of calling the authorities. the editor is now on the list of jail visitors for this connie elam and will try to get in to see her tomorrow. this evening tj, who knows the editor, said he's a good guy. they know he is only doing his job.

This is not the first time that media has reported things before the family finds out, and I'm sure it won't be the last.
Aside from that, how can they be sure this cell mate is telling the whole truth? Why would AS tell someone she doesn't know something like this? Not saying she didn't, we just don't know. History is full of jailhouse snitches, and most of them don't fit in the category of honesty and integrity, ya know?
As for reporters, if they waited to be certain that family knew every detail, they wouldn't get much reporting done. They're just doing their jobs. Blame LE for not telling the family what this cell mate said, because it's their job to keep the family informed, not the media's.

Day 20, in the search for 18-month-old Elaina Steinfurth, began with a false report that someone had found the body of the missing toddler.

Toledo Police would later spend the afternoon trying to assure the public, and baby Elaina's family, that they investigated the tip but found it was a false alarm.

WNWO asked if investigators had search the Hoffman Road Landfill but a Toledo Police spokesman refused to comment.

On Friday, the Toledo Free Press was able to gain an interview with a woman who says Elaina's mother confessed to her sister, in jail, that she was involved in the 18-month-old disappearance.

Authorities could not be reached for comment on the authenticity of those claims.

Boy do I hope he is right. They are unaffected and emotionless to be sure. They're so nonchalant about it its'a as if they misplaced someone's work boots and not a baby, so we will see !

" they" AS , SK , etc. I believe RS really hopes AS did not harm the baby but I 'm afraid he's got a sad reality coming he'll have to accept .

ETA BBM I attribute that to Angela being much more in CYA mode than grieving mode. Whatever happened with Elaina is not nearly as significant an event in Angela's life as her own butt sitting in jail with 250k bond . Plus, no matter where Elaina is, Angela KNOWS SK KNOWS. The TJ side of the family doesn't know where their baby is so they're worried sick, but Ang knows exactly so shes' not fretting and looking for clues and waiting for news . Moooo

Both of those places are upstream. There are birds everywhere in this area all the time.

Imho it is this jailhouse confession (of someone who herself is in jail for not protecting her child hmmmm) but also cell phone pings and common sense detective work on the behalf of le.
