GUILTY OH - Elaina Steinfurth, 17 months, Toledo, 2 Jun 2013 - #7

As frustrating as the sentences are, I'm glad baby Elaina's family do not have to endure a grueling trial complete with defense BS and forensic details. For me, that would be unbearable to have to listen to details of how my baby died and then some sorry sack of *%$# making up stuff to get the murderers off.

Well, she forgot the FIVE BROKEN BONES in that "description" of what she did...Oh, and she just leaves her DYING BABY there on the floor while she has SEX? HUH?

I'm furious that this woman was allowed to take the Alford plea. She started killing this baby before her boyfriend finished the act. I hold her more to blame than him. She was her mother and was suppose to take care of her and protect her; instead, she grabbed her by her little limbs and slammed her into the wall and floor. This should be a mandatory death sentence IMO for both of them. Wonder what excuse this woman's father will have now............

Of course they both minimized what they did. Their both sociopaths that are incapable of having feelings for anyone else or taking responsibility for their actions.

They should both have gotten life in prison with no chance of parole, at the least. I don't understand why they went so light on them. What they did to Elaina is the worst thing a person could ever do. I am furious.

OH MY GOSH! Just saw on HLN. Mom and her ex: We killed baby Elaina. Said both plead guilty!!! Never thought I would see them plead guilty! Figured they would fight it all the way.

MDATCA and Ferrotmommy, we can be your support. You have all the love here anyone could ask for. The reason I know this, is that in 2008, my brother and his wife, were brutally murdered by wife's uncle, sniper style. It went to trial in 2012. If not for the support and phone calls from my WS family, I could not have made it through the trial. The love and compassion I found here could not be surpassed. I am truly sorry for your pain, but please know that we truly care, and will be here til the end and beyond. :blowkiss:

OH MY GOSH! Just saw on HLN. Mom and her ex: We killed baby Elaina. Said both plead guilty!!! Never thought I would see them plead guilty! Figured they would fight it all the way.

Me too. and details, even sanitized version are horrific. He slammed the baby against the wall to shut up her crying, then they decided to have sex. Later he looks at her, tries cpr, pushes on her stomach and blood came out her mouth and nose. So decided to smother her instead. Dear God.

I am too.

But, eligible for parole after 18 or 25 years doesn't mean they WILL be paroled. As long as Toledo protests their parole each time, they'll be in there for life.

I don't know what I feel most --- glad the family does not have to go through all the details of a trial, glad the two will be in prison for a long time. Yet, I still feel that was not enough punishment for what this adorable little girl endured at their hands. My heart is so heavy and sad right now.

Tulessa, MDATCA, Ferretmommy and all others who know the personal pain of these tragedies, I can only repeat Tulessa's words. "Til the end and beyond" .... I will share your sorrows, and I will be here.

I hope that the family is happy with it. Does the prosecution take what the victim's family wants?
For example I have read and heard that the family of Travis Alexander wants the DP for Jodi Arias and weren't supportive of any pleas or deals. Is what the family wants a factor or not on whether there is a deal and what it is?

My God, I didn't think I could feel any sicker or heartbroken but how wrong I was. How can it be that her murders may very well walk free one day but she will never again take another breath? Our beautiful girl was failed in life and now again in death. I don't know if I'm angriest at our criminal justice system or the concept of a loving and just deity that allowed this to happen but both are horrible failures.

In court Tuesday afternoon, King told a judge he found Elaina injured in a bedroom on June 2nd.

On that Sunday that her daddy could have taken her to a hospital ....... stunning.

Hate to type this, but just heard on HLN Elaina's mother threw her and King put her out of her "pain" . RIP baby girl, you got Justice.

Maybe they were both shot down on dope they don't really know the sequence of events and Elaina already had a broken bone or two so she was crying and inconsolable and then the throw against the wall to silence her? I don't know.
I'm sickened and sad and my heart is just the heaviest .
The only blessing today is that there is still a few weeks now to try to salvage some sort of a Christmas and I don't even know what sort of a Christmas you have at a time like this.
But I know this family will be sure that baby K enjoys her holiday.
I don't know how you will but I know that you will. Amazing, strong, persevering , resilient and humble family

ETA Per Irisha's post above that on HLN it was said AS threw her to put her out of her pain. That's why i wondered if someone had previously broken her bones.
