Moo...I think there is usually one disturbed individual, and the others just follow along....moo

doesn't that make them just as disturbed though?

You have a good point but sometimes it's peer pressure, afraid of not fitting in, being liked, etc. Sure, as adults we know that should not matter, but they are still kids and stupid stuff like that matters to them, unfortunately, before their brains are fully developed and mature.

I saw a YouTube video a while back where some former Jehovah's Witnesses were talking about abuse within that church (in short, they really don't handle it), and they named other religions that had protocols on what to do if an abuser, of either a child or an adult, IS a child themselves. That definitely needs to be addressed in ALL spheres of living.
As a person who was abused sexually as a child by another girl, I feel for the victim, and the perpetrators as I feel for myself as a child and the girl who abused me. There is some level of parental neglect and sexual abuse close to/within the family for these things to play out. They are abusers themselves but also acting out the things that were done to them as children as a way of understanding them. It’s a horrible situation all around and there are adults that should be arrested as a result of this incident.

As for the resulting CPTSD, it’s a whole other kettle of fish. I got into some abusive relationships as a teenager and young adult because my idea of love and s*x was skewed to abuse.

There was alot of anger acted out on the little girl, and no 9 or 10 yr should be carrying around that much rage inside of them. This wasn't just some experimentation of something they've heard about on the school bus, this was a savage and vicious attack by some very disturbed kids. Maybe it was jealousy by the 10yr, this little girl was obviously loved and adored. The beads in her hair, the beautiful clothes she wore. She was LOVED. Maybe the anger came from the fact the 10yr had none of that and she was lashing out.
I agree this would not have been some form of experimentation that went overboard, especially not something they heard about on the school bus or even saw on a video.

With that amount of rage in a 10yo I'm wondering if this child might have been physically and/or sexually abused herself. Abuse is not an excuse to take your rage out on someone else, that's obvious. As a child/teen I suffered under a sibling who was full of rage at what was done to him by a parent, but he took it out on me instead - it's easier to attack a younger and smaller person. I can still remember sensing my sibling's rage in the air... The utter injustice of abuse can cause rage within a person, and without some sort of outside help e.g. therapy plus an end to the injustice, where does the rage go? Self-destruction or attack someone else. I'm not excusing the 10yo and other attacker(s) of the 5yo! But I imagine the attackers need therapy really badly too. Because they really shouldn't have that amount of rage in them. But you can't say "Bad child. Get rid of your rage." It doesn't work that way.

There are also some child victims of physical/sexual abuse who are actually forced to abuse other children by their abusers. Maybe the 10yo knew how to do this stuff because she had already had to?
MOO
