Just to clarify, the “her” in this statement is Jacob’s paternal grandmother and guardian. I hope Jacob gets all the help and love that he needs!

Jacob looked healthy when they got him this morning, Brown said. He’s thin, but he’s always been thin, he said. But the sad part is that he’s not had any schooling for the past year, and he’s not had any interactions with other kids, Brown said.

Chief doesn’t know if he’s traumatized, but he appears to be healthy.

im late on this, but this is a case where mom was PAS ing him I am betting. I wonder if he had a phone and mom had him reporting dads every move. we went through this with one of my three step kids. he prob went willingly because he was brainwashed. he prob was in juvenile hall for "unruly" because he was brainwashed to believe he was doing the right thing, that dad "did this" to poor mom.

I think most people think being free is better than being locked up. Many criminals hideout out to avoid being arrested. If they didn't think that was the better option, they would just give themselves up. So no I don't think he is better off now. I too hope things improve for him. But how that is going to happen in a detention center, I'm not sure.

this reply is old but im venturing to guess since they were about to move him, that there are others willing to take him in and hide him and he went willingly, prob because he was brainwashed and manipulated by mom. im still catching up tho.

Man accused of killing Beavercreek dad in front of kids in local jail

.....Sterling Roberts’ federal public defender in South Carolina said Roberts doesn’t face any other charges in South Carolina in connection with the shooting three days after Caldwell’s death.

In that case, Roberts pulled an AK -47 style rifle out and fired in the direction of a deputy, who reversed his vehicle and took cover behind a Circle K, according to a complaint. The deputy radioed for assistance, and when confronted by another deputy, Roberts put down the Romarm model Cugir, 7.62 caliber rifle. Officers recovered six fired casings and 48 unused bullets.

Roberts had been on probation for a weapons under disability case in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

Defendants in Jacob Caldwell missing child case sentenced, 2 get jail

June 13, 2019

The three people accused of helping keep Jacob Caldwell away from his legal guardians after he witnessed his father’s death were sentenced Thursday in Miamisburg Municipal Court.

Donald Bell and Jo Anne Henderson were sentenced to 180 days in jail with 170 suspended. Judge Robert Rettich III ruled both will spend 10 days in jail, must each pay $380 in fees and will be on probation for 10 years.

Henderson’s son, Zacheriah, had all 180 days of his sentenced suspended and was ordered to pay $230 in fees and get a full-time job during his probation.

Rettich said what happened was a “horrendous loss of judgment” but that the defendants had no criminal record.

“I just cannot fathom for a second how you could think it would be OK to leave a teenage boy languishing …,” Rettich said. “It’s just so inappropriate.”

Sally DeThomas, Jacob’s paternal grandmother and legal guardian, asked Rettich to sentence the defendants to the maximum 180 days and a $1,000 fine for an interference of custody case.
