The temperature that evening (March 4) & the early morning hours (March 5) had a high and low of 35/31 and 41/31 respectively.

The NBC4 website states that the video was shot 7 minutes prior to leaving the bar. That would make his leaving the bar at 12:22am. The gibberish text was received by Matt at 1:22am. An hour later to the minute ?

The relatives/friends he was with said that they last saw him at 12:30am. That 12:30 time was probably a close approximation. IMO they saw him as he was leaving. That would account for why they did not see him again.

If i am correct, the relatives/friends stated that JL did not tell them he was leaving. IMO would that be because he wanted to avoid being asked where he was going ?

The pics are in no particular order, which makes it difficult to put together the sequence of what Joey's hands are doing. In the link eric136 posted, I think the chronology of the timestamped frames in the slideshow is actually 2, 3, 4, 1. (Excluding the dance floor frame which is stamped 10 minutes earlier.)

Putting them in correct order, in the first frame Joey is holding some object (coat?) in front of his body with both hands, and approaching the tall bald man who is facing away from the camera. In the second frame Joey's right hand is free and pointing toward the wall on his right, while his left hand is hidden by the tall man who is now several steps closer to him. (JL may have moved his hand to the side and turned sideways to edge past the tall man, as one does in a narrow hallway.) In the third and fourth frames JL and the tall man have made their way past each other, and now Joey's left hand is free and his right hand appears to be cradling an object, likely the same thing he was holding in pic. #1. In frame 3 it looks as though this item could be slung over Joey's left shoulder, which could indicate a coat as Vail suggested, but in frame 4 this item does not appear to be particularly large or bulky.

It's relevant to note that all of these frames were shot within 1.99 seconds of each other – enough time for Joey to shift his grasp on an object he was carrying, but not a lot of time to pick up a different object while continuing to move forward in the hallway, or to exchange items without being noticed.

The order of the photos would be (from our vantage point) that show him moving from right to left (progressively getting closer to other guy who is standing facing away). The new one i posted earlier today would be the first one.

From what i can gather, the homicide unit at the CPD just became aware of these photos this past Thursday, according to the NBC4 website. Perhaps had they known about these sooner, these would have been released sooner. Did another department that is within the CPD have these photos all along and just now shared these with the homicide department ? Or did Union just share these this past Thursday ?

Perhaps the CPD has gained information that leads them back to these two areas. So, putting these photos out in the public might trigger those people who you see in them to come forward with any recollections they have. Plus, these photos are of the time frame 'closest' to the actual time he left. He left 7 min. later. It is really hard sometimes for outsiders to know why the police do what they do. This is part of police tactics.

I agree that these pictures look pretty benign. There is pretty much nothing that you, me and any outsider that were not there that evening are going to be able to discern from them. There is a very slight, little, remote possibility that the perp is in those pics. The dance floor pics show the last people to be known to be with him. Are any of those people seen leaving ? Unless other businesses have camera footage of other people being with/around him.

I think these images are fairly benign as well. I don't believe CPD randomly came across these last Thursday either. That's utter incompetence if so.

Perhaps with releasing these surveillance images, CPD is signaling to a potential POI that, given the camera positioning, they saw/know something else. I hope this is the case.

Okay, I think I have it figured out: the picture of Joey on the dance floor, looks like his back is towards the camera and he appears to be leaning his head into and probably listening (in his left ear) to the guy that has his arm around Joeys back, and Joey has his arm behind the other guys back. That same person on the dance floor looks like the guy he's passing in the hallway. So maybe LE is asking the public to identity the guy in the hallway but without tipping him off and straight up asking the public to do so.

YES. :happydance: That's it VTX88!! Also, keep in mind that the police have seen actual video footage, and we are just seeing stills. Perhaps they see an exchange between the two in the hallway, or perhaps the bald guy is waiting for JL in the hallway and then follows him out. We are not seeing everything. But I agree that the bald guy is the POI and why the stills have been released showing JL with his arm around him on the dance floor and then the two together in the hallway right before JL left Union.

I wondered if that was the cousin as well- I don't remember if we ever saw her in the media to get an idea of what she looks like...

In one of the restroom cams- it looks like he might be holding something/have someone leaning on him? Does anyone else see that- it's hard to make out from my phone I was trying to wait until I got to an actual desktop computer but curiosity got the best of me :-/

I see what you're talking about, it's not very clear though, to say the least. Is that a two story foyer with a railing? There's a bald guy standing there, appears to be above them? Then it appears Joey is helping someone along, I even think I see the other person's arm / hand on the railing. Or, is Joey alone and he's holding his stomach with his right hand, and that's his left hand on the railing? I swear I'm going cross eyed looking at it for so long, so am beginning to think I'm seeing things that aren't there. I mean, is that even a hand railing ? :thinking:

I'm not seeing Joey dancing, it looks like he's talking to a woman. Could someone point out which one is Joey on the dance floor ? I must be looking at the wrong person. TIA
