I have to admit ---> every time I see a crime/case where an attached building is involved, I think about the cases of rape and abductions where the perpetrator has entered via the attic crawl space --- I always wish I could just see the attic blue prints to know if the structure is such that this is possible. I always tell myself, Junkie dear -- the cops check that so don't go there..........but I always do.

Whenever I hear of a case where an attached building is involved, I always wonder why no one in the attached unit heard anything. :waitasec:

I lived in a semi detached home once and I could hear people sneeze in the house next door.

Do we know if she smoked? I am a secret smoker on occasion and sneak outside to have one from time to time. I take my phone outside to read WS while sneaking a smoke lol.

This was probably posted aleready but I don't recall reading that JC was at work and also that other family members were at the home when JC was there. So, my question is who made the 911 call. Sounds like the media is messing things up again. :banghead:

“I kept texting her and texting her, and there was no response,” he said.

Concerned for her well being, he asked to leave work to check on her. Finding her car in the townhouse parking lot, he said he was immediately worried, knowing she would never skip work and ignore text messages.

But inside, Carter, along with the rest of Markham’s family, friends and police, would only find more questions.
Her small mixed-breed dog, Murphy, was found locked in her bedroom. Carter said it was obvious the dog “had been there awhile.”

Markham’s purse, keys and car were all there. The only things missing were Markham and her cellphone, which Carter’s mother, Karyn Winkler, said was turned off around 12:45 a.m. Sunday. The GPS tracking device on the phone also had been turned off.

Putting the dog away makes it seem like it was someone who made her dog nervous or bark too much.

That's a good observation: someone who made her dog nervous, because he picked up on something, he didn't like or trust?

I keep seeing comments and hoping FF Police are reading the forums, so a friend of her's just posted that she knows for a fact that Katelyn sleeps in a tshirt and underwear. I was thinking of her answering the door in PJs now this changes my thinking. I wonder if her shoes are all accounted for?

I just don't get why she would send a picture of the picture ("the art") or whatever it was at that late time, it doesn't take hours for one of those to send so it was probably around 12:45 or later.

This is the weird thing to me. This is all weird though.

OK, I know I'm not missing, but I've been known to have finished a drawing at that time, and send a picture of it, to my partner. I draw my best in the wee hours.

I would love for someone to post the dog's normal behavior. We have to put our dog away when anyone other then immediate family stops by because of the dog's anxiety level. I noticed somewhere that her dog is a little dog could very well be yappy.

Personally, I put no stock in lie detector tests.
I'd refuse one under any circumstance, guilty or not. :twocents:

The thread with Megs (John's sister) saying he'd taken a lie detector test is now deleted. That particular forum is very delete-happy.

SuperSleuth, I'm extremely skeptical about lie detector tests myself. But wanted to pass along the information just the same.

I am surprised no one has figured out what she must have been wearing and added it to "missing" info? Nothing but the ring has been mentioned, is that correct?

As far as LD tests...usually they are given, whether or not they are reliable, or whatever, it is a usual step, unless someone refuses. Yesterday LE made it sound as though they had not been done as yet...which seems odd, this long on.

His family and friends are really turning off community support. Today at the grocery, library and hair salon people were talking about how rude and close minded they are being on news forums.

I find it a little odd we haven't heard from anyone on either side since the vigil.

Maybe he thought he had to wait 24 hours to call for missing person report? Where did he get that from? ... Maybe he thought I don't care what the protocol is, I'm calling anyway.

Like I said, I don't think his mention of the 24 hour thing is suspicious.

What about her employer? Who called who to let them know Katelyn didn't show up? Maybe that's when he freaked out?

Dunno how the employer part went, but JC gave two different moments when describing his freak-out/call-LE moment. In the 911 call it was when he saw her car at her home when it shouldn't have been there. In an interview, it was when he saw that her dog had been confined to her bedroom instead of the bathroom, and had been there a while because it defecated.

Which is not to say that he couldn't have had more than one legitimate freak-out moment, of course.

If he was involved, why would he admit to burning documents? Makes him look suspicious.

Because the firepit friend would probably tell law enforcement or the media, "He was here the night Katelyn vanished, and in fact, he was burning her stuff." He had to preempt that and admit to it openly, or risk it looking even shiftier... and that's true even if he's innocent.

Told them something like what?

Something like, "We are building a case against a suspect and it is absolutely crucial that you say nothing at all to ANYONE during this very delicate evidence-gathering time. Any interference from you could prevent our ability to arrest and/or prosecute him for what may be a heinous crime." That'd shut me right up.

So, my question is who made the 911 call. Sounds like the media is messing things up again.

Maybe they both made 911 calls, not knowing the other had done so... it's possible. JC called her dad during his search for her - at least, he says so in the 911 call - so maybe the dad went ahead and called 911, not knowing John was planning on it as well. They might have gotten different dispatchers. Dunno, just speculating. :)

LE doesn't seem to want to say this is a criminal case as yet...it is apparent they are investigating as such, but they won't say so. If they in fact DON'T have a suspect in mind, the townspeople should know, IMO...that some weirdo might be on the loose...

From the link ShouldBworking posted-http://www.journal-news.com/news/hamilton-news/authorities-searching-for-missing-woman-prepare-for-worst-case-scenario-1237093.html

"When asked if Carter was a person of interest in the disappearance, Dickey said “As far as we’re concerned, anyone who has had contact with her is a person of interest, and we’re going to continue to operate in that vain.” '

WELL- that is quite a list then , isn't it?? So everyone is a possibility?

I wonder if it would have been normal for Katelyn and JC to text throughout the day on a Sunday while she was at work, or to have have some contact...seems like most young people do. When was he first alarmed again?
And if he IS guilty...was he waiting, hoping someone else would report her missing?

so I wonder how all KM's friends and family, that had contact with her, feel about being persons of interest now...who is gonna start talking??
