Literally every one failed her including the entire judicial system that dealt with him.

Not a far reach to say he was likely failed as a child too.

We’ve gotta get better but we are just going the opposite direction

If he was failed as a child, so what? He’s an adult now. He can’t continuously blame his childhood for his bad behavior. He was a grown man who had no right to hurt that little girl. MOO

I didn’t say that nor did I imply it?

I said we suck as a society protecting anyone and its cycle after cycle of crap.

agreed, acknowledging the cyclical tango with the punitive prison system in the USA isn’t excusing any of this, but it matters to recognize so we can try and create some meaningful change… if that meaningful change ever happens

Snipped from the above article:

Kei’Mani’s mother, Tiara Kasten, told 13 Action News on Monday she expects she won’t be invited to attend the service in Toledo.

“I haven’t received an invite, which is really upsetting,” Kasten said. “She’s taken my daughter’s whole life from me. She’s gotten a chance to be with my baby. This tragedy is what came of it. I just want to be able to give my kid a good sendoff and I can’t do that. She’s not allowing me to do that.”

WTH??? They would need the biggest, baddest in the city to ever keep me away from my child. But, I suppose if I had "allegedly" abandoned my child at infancy, I wouldn't fight for the right to say my goodbyes either. She wants a frigging "invite"? I call BS 💩!! 🤬

Bbm,
Interesting choice of words.... which only adds to the custody questions as she could be trying to imply that custody was taken away from her, or maybe she tried to get visits or even tried to regain custody

Or it's just a comment to gain sympathy and to make it look like she tried.. cared. MOO

I knew what you were trying to point out, it's generational. God only knows what his own childhood was like - but it's impossible to view him through a compassionate lens, due to what he did to Kemani. I suppose we'll hear about what he experienced as a kid in the sentencing phase. I think the death penalty exists in Ohio, though executions are stayed at the moment?

IMO, the latter.

Before Kemani was found, in every interview, TK spoke about the impacts SHE was suffering. This is a common trait in narcissistic parents - seeing their child as an extension of themselves. They are also master manipulators, that's what she is demonstrating by blaming Dorothy. If you listen to what her sister states in the linked video, she lays out the history of Kemani's childhood.

I note TK has not a word about the man who killed Kemani? Where's her outrage & anger towards him for killing her?

Again, no I don’t think you know what I am pointing out. This conversation has nothing to do with compassion. We can acknowledge that his childhood was likely full of abuse and being failed- that doesn’t mean he deserves viewed through a compassionate lense.

It means we absolutely muse acknowledge that our system is structured to create monsters and unsuccessful folks for us to ever change the system. Very, very little do we know of someone who has caused such violence and has received appropriate care as a child - and even if we do, we probably never fully get the details because not only does childhood trauma change how we function it changes our actual neuro wiring.

No, it’s not about compassion. It’s about saying a+b=c so we can change a and b so we start getting a new result.

I would take anything seen on TikTok with lots of grains of salt. I would also be taking anything bio mother has to say about this case with a truckload of salt. She is not the least bit credible and is only interested in how the public perceives her and her alleged abandonment of her child IMO. JMO

In my school district, we report to CPS and to the local police department. We found that many of the cases reported to CPS came back as unfounded when there were clear signs of abuse, so we were directed to report to both. Reporting to police seems to get different results. I'm all for whatever it takes to keep kids safe.
I have found this to be correct too. We were told to call the cops and let cops call CPS
