Nothing came up on her from dna testing on cut-up clothing and the "legs?" (omg)

With those two infections going on, it's hard to believe that she survived, not only the cold weather, but the infections, too.

They were certainly not her legs, those were identified recently as someone else. It’s also unknown if those were her clothes, while they might roughly fit the description, they were found far away and don’t have “enough” evidence on them to be tested. There was a pantyliner in the underwear so I hope they keep that in evidence in case they can test later with more sensitive tech?

Remains found in woods near motel where Lanessa was last seen. If they had cadaver dogs in there, why weren't remains found.

Female remains found - Times Gazette

In a heavily wooded area, the most likely explanation is that the dogs didn't get that close to the remains. Though dogs do sometimes miss things, especially if they're tired or the weather is bad, and the dog's handlers can sometimes miss the signs the dog is giving.

If I had unlimited resources, I'd love to do a big study of where remains were found in missing cases. I'd say the majority of the time, the remains are found within a mile of the last known location of the missing person, in areas that were searched and cleared.

Obviously no one is sure that this is Lanessa yet, but I feel the article is pointing in that direction.

I can remember cases where remains were found in places that had been searched three or four times by professionals...

I think there is some research in this area. Seems like I've seen it posted on other threads.

Rest Easy Lanessa
So Sorry
I am glad you can be laid in a proper place, found with dignity.

Im so glad she was found so she can be put to rest and her family and loved ones can have some closure. I so wish they would have found her in the woods immediately as this could have saved her life, but "heavily wooded" can be very difficult and treacherous.
I will say (and I hope to not offend anyone) that I'm very happy that at the very least she wasn't murdered, and I hope her passing was gentle. Sending love and hugs to her family and friends.
