Before he disappeared March 4, Larry Davis messaged the person closest to him, giving a name in case anything happened to him.

Davis was last seen alive four days later. His off-and-on girlfriend of nine years, Brittany Claytor, 32, said a security camera captured Davis going into a private garage, but nothing since. She co-filed a missing person’s report with Davis’ brother, Jeffrey, on March 7. The police radio report obtained by NBC4 said that Davis’ bike was found at a person’s home.

Davis was an addict, but a man with regular habits.

“I would hear from him every day, or his brother would hear from him, every day,” Claytor said. “Four days before he went missing, he messaged me and told me if something would have happened to him, that I can blame this person. Larry was on drugs, so he wasn’t home at the time. He was choosing to be homeless, and his dad just died. But he still was coming around every day. Either me or his brother saw him every day.”

Claytor also detailed the last time she heard from Davis.

“He messaged me on the fourth at 11 p.m., and on the fifth, we never heard back from him,” Claytor said. “So his brother went looking for him, because by then he would have done stopped over here.”

NBC4 sent an email to the Chillicothe Police Department attempting to confirm Claytor’s statement that Davis was last seen on a camera going into someone’s garage. That email went unanswered.

“Before we were together, he was my best friend,” Claytor said. “I love him. He was everything.”

Claytor said Davis had his life together before slipping back into drugs.

“I was begging him to go to rehab, but he wouldn’t go,” Claytor said. “His dad died. And that’s why I know that he told me … because he knew that I wouldn’t quit.”

Davis was last seen wearing a red and black flannel shirt, a black knit hat, blue jeans, and tennis shoes. He has a tattoo across the front of his neck that reads: “100% wicked” and “Amanda” tattooed across the bottom of his abdomen, as well as several tribal tattoos, according to the missing person’s report.

Police have released a report that sheds some light into the disappearance of Larry Davis, who has been missing March.

The report, filed by Chillicothe Police Officer Joshua Wright, gives a timeline for Davis’ disappearance late on March 4. It echoes what Brittany Claytor, Davis’ on-and-off girlfriend of nine years, said in an earlier interview with NBC4.

The last contact police had with Davis was a report of a suspicious person about 4 p.m. March 4 near the city’s floodwall.

“[Davis] checked OK at this time,” Wright wrote in his report.

Davis’ way of getting around town was his bike, but he had hurt his foot and was using a crutch when he disappeared, the report revealed.

In Claytor’s statement to the police, she told the officer “she received a message from Larry on Feb. 28 stating, ‘If anything ever happens to me, it’s because of [redacted]’.”

Police interviewed that person as part of their investigation, and he was the last person known to speak with Davis before he disappeared.

He said Davis had left his bike and belongings with him after midnight on March 4 and early hours of March 5, “because he was ‘going to hit a lick.'” The man said he’d given Davis a battery pack charger for his phone, because his phone was dead.

The last message Claytor said she received was on March 4, at about 11 p.m. Davis was upset that McDonald’s was closed.

Ugh human remains found in a tote. I bet that was shocking to find. IF they're determined to be Larry, it looks like the GF had it right, he went into the garage and never came out.

I always hate it when people give others a person's name in case anything happens to them - it seems like it always ends badly and their premonition/knowledge rings true.

RIP Larry.

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (WCMH) — Human remains were discovered Wednesday shoved inside a tote at a residence, and it’s possible they belong to Larry Davis, who has been missing since March.

Brittany Claytor, an on-and-off girlfriend of Davis, told NBC4 that police had searched the property where Davis was last seen.

Claytor said she received a call from detectives on Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. and that officers searched the location from Tuesday evening through the early hours of Wednesday.

She said she’d been told that a family at the property was cleaning out the garage.

“They stumbled across his body in a tote and called it in,” Claytor said. “I was very shocked. it all feels like a dream. I don’t understand how the bucket wasn’t there the first time they went there and searched, but the tote wasn’t there.”

ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A Ross County man has pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to the grim discovery of missing Chillicothe resident Larry Davis Jr.’s body. Davis, reported missing in March 2022, was found deceased in July. His decomposed remains were discovered inside a plastic tote at a Poplar Street residence in Chillicothe.

Detectives had executed a search warrant on the property earlier, during which they found items belonging to Davis. The search for the missing man involved multiple agencies, including the Ohio Highway Patrol, Ross County Sheriff’s Office, and Chillicothe Police Department.

Brad Lanman, was indicted with abuse of a corpse, two counts of tampering with evidence, and other complicity charges. Sentencing is scheduled for May, with the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office seeking an 8-year prison sentence for Lanman.

Shelly K. McGuire of Chillicothe has also been charged in the case. Sources close to the victim’s family revealed that McGuire was in a relationship with Lanman. She faces charges of tampering with evidence, attempted abuse of a corpse, and failure to report a death. McGuire’s trial is set to begin next month.

The exact circumstances surrounding Davis’s death remain unclear. Officials have not publicly released any additional details regarding the ongoing investigation.
