BOLO - Missing Male

We are attempting to locate 67-year-old Michael Conway.

On Wednesday, October 8th, shortly before 7pm, Mr. Conway told his wife that he was going to Home Depot and left their residence in North Ridgeville. Attempts to contact Mr. Conway since that time have all gone unanswered.

Cameras showed Mr. Conway's vehicle driving in the area of Columbia Road and Cook Road in Olmsted Falls. At 7:30, the vehicle was seen on camera in the parking lot of Aloft Hotel on Great Northern Blvd.

On Thursday, October 9th, North Olmsted officers located Mr. Conway's vehicle parked and unoccupied in the parking lot of Butternut Ridge Apartments on Great Northern Blvd. While the vehicle was being processed for evidence, Mr. Conway's cell phone was located inside.

A thorough search of the surrounding areas, including the woods, was conducted by officers from both North Ridgeville and North Olmsted. At this time, Mr. Conway has not been located or contacted anyone.

If you have information regarding the whereabouts of Michael Conway, please contact the North Ridgeville Police Department at 440-490-2001.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hopefully this is not against terms, but could he have been meeting a lady of the night, or an affair partner? Does she possibly live in the apartments where his car was found?

My thoughts went there too.
It would be a better outcome than foul play...although that could also end in foul play since his car moved from the hotel to the apartment building.

Where are you Michael? If you are safe just let someone know.

I wonder that too. Did he leave with her? Or could it be he was forced to go?
I wish there was more information.

His cell phone should give some information I would think.

If this were a crime by someone else, why wouldn't they take the cell phone? Seems odd unless it was a random carjacking. However, the road he likely took does not seem to be a likely spot for a carjacking--particularly at that time of day.

The cell phone might make them trackable, so if they didn't need the phone, they wouldn't take it. I'm thinking he might have also been looking to buy/sell something on Craig's List with a planned stop on the way to the home improvement place. Always a possibility.

But I couldn't help think to over 20 years ago, a coworker of mine disappeared while working off site and leaving work a bit early. They eventually found him shot in the back of the head in the trunk of his car away from where he was working and no where near his home. At first everyone was very jittery, thinking it was a targeted crime (it was right after 9-11, and all fed agents were a little on edge). Turns out he arranged online to meet a young lady at her apartment for . . . well you get the idea. Her boyfriend planned to rob him, shot him when he arrived, them saw his creds in his wallet and panicked and weren't too careful with evidence as they got rid of his body and car (had no clue who he was, just some "John"). They were eventually caught, and sentenced but it was awful as he was married with a nice family.

This is my opinion as well. I've taken an odd interest in this since I read this story right after I came back from the same Home Depot he was supposedly going to.

A couple of things are worth noting — surprisingly, he went to that Home Depot. Based on living in North Ridgeville, the Home Depot in Avon, OH, would be about 5 minutes closer. Also, if he weren't sure Home Depot wouldn't have what he needed, there is a Lowe's and a Menards near the Avon store — not the case for the North Olmsted location.

I think the idea of tryst does not make sense. I'm a middle-aged guy who can spend some time wandering through Home Depot. I would have trouble accounting for that much time from just a Home Depot visit unless he tells his wife that he also had to look at Lowe's and Menards for what he needed.

Home Depot was not the first place on his itinerary. If he is going on I-480, he would make a left to go to Home Depot and a right to the Aloft hotel. Based on the timeline provided, he did not have time to visit Home Depot before being spotted in the hotel parking lot. The hotel is notable for its convenient location, situated right off the highway, making it an ideal spot to meet before I-480 ends at the turnpike. It would be a place you could tell someone not familiar with the area to meet you.

I'm not sure what the relevance of the apartments is. I do know that they rewind there a bit, and it would be the place in the area that would likely take the longest time to find a car by LE.
