Boddie's family said she was in the care of the CareCore at Mary Scott nursing home. They said she left the facility, unsupervised, Sunday night with her friend. Her friend has been accounted for, however, Boddie remains missing.
Her niece, Carrie Moore, said she suffers from Alzheimer's Disease, is wheelchair-bound, and is diabetic. Moore told Dayton 24/7 Now's Gwyneth Falloon that she was frustrated with the nursing home, but just wants Boddie to come home safely.
“We love you," Moore stated. "We love you to pieces.”
“She’s sweet, super sweet, funny, and giddy," shared Moore. “She has not had medication since Sunday.”
Police said she was last seen just after 9 p.m. Sunday. Moore said that Boddie, and another resident with dementia, left the facility unsupervised after stepping out for a smoke break.
“Where they go and smoke is not closed in," informed Moore. "We’re finding out bits and pieces of the information and piecing it together.”
Her friend has been located, but police are still actively searching for Boddie. The family turned to the nursing home for answers, saying they were not even notified she was missing until the next morning.
“They should’ve called us Sunday when they couldn’t find her," said Moore.
Moore said Boddie has been in the care of CareCore since 2018 and has had zero concerns, until now.
According to Medicare's
website, CareCore at Mary Scott has paid five federal fines within the last three years. Penalties are given when a nursing home gets a “serious health or fire citation, or fails to correct a citation for a long period of time.”
The facility declined to comment, however, Boddie’s family met with its supervisor. Moore said she did not get the answers she was looking for.
