I am not yet covinced she actually knew anything at anytime for certain, she may have thought it at some point though, but that is a lot different. There could be more evidence that we are not aware of that comes out. I am interested to know more about her being present when they were discussuing retaliation and about her telling AW to tell LE that AW bought the shoes for Bob. I would like to know the context of those discussions.

The burden in a civil case is much less than in a criminal case so a jury could find her liable. I feel that she probably has most of her assets protected. Most people with a lot of property, land or money usually do. There still are probably some assets to get though.
I don't remember that. Did Angie say in testimony that FW told her to say the shoes were for Bob? This is a big thing, it shows obstruction of justice, even covering up the murders because why else say that?

She said it to keep her family from being caught because the shoes were damning evidence. So then she knew about the murders after the fact.

If you could tell me where this information is I can look for it. Also, do you know where I can find the info about Angie writing a letter to FW to try to get on FW's good side?

She wanted to explain things to FW, get on her good side so it wouldn't make sense to say FW wanted her to lie about the shoes, just would make FW furious with her.

Yes, it came out in an tweet or something during trial. I also found it it an article that I will link. I remember it being reported at that time that Fredericka told AW to tell LE she bought them for Bob, but the article says Fredericka offered to lie and say they were bought for Bob. I do not know which is true of if AW is telling the truth.
--When agents detained and questioned the family at the U.S. and Canadian border on their way back from Alaska, Angela admitted she was caught off guard by questions about the Walmart shoes she'd purchased. She said she didn't remember that she'd left the receipt for the shoes behind; Fredericka later offered to lie and tell investigators the shoes were bought for Billy's dad, but Angela said she declined because she'd already lied to officers about them.--
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am not sure if the actual letter she wrote to Fredericka was shown so media could get a pic of it or not but in this article it talks about her reading the letter out loud. I will look around to see if I can find a pic of the actual letter.

Nash brought up a letter Angela wrote to her mother-in-law after she was arrested, asking her to read it aloud for the jury.
"There is so much no one will ever know," read Angela.
In the letter, she'd told Fredericka that everything she'd pleaded guilty to was a lie; Angela clarified this was because, after the deal, she'd forgotten why she faced charges for things like burglary and firearms charges when she hadn't been at the scenes of the murders. She told Nash she reconvened with her lawyers, who explained her charges to her again, which she now understands.
The intent of the writing her mother-in-law, Angela said, had been to try and explain herself to Fredericka, so the matriarch wasn't upset about her cooperation with the state.

@Cool Cats The article I posted in the previous post has some good information about Angela Wagner testimony.

Great thanks!

I'm going to start saving the articles before they end up scrubbed. This is a good one.

Someday I might be tempted to get some transcripts, it's so expensive though. This is why it would be good to save all articles of the testimony.

Yes this is a good one. You could just buy AW and JW transcripts, but not sure how many pages. I think they are 50 cents a page.

What Angela says in there about FW and RN is not going to be good for them.

Yes, what she says on the stand at the Civil trial could show RN and FW were involved in a cover up conspiracy.

I wonder how it works? Like will J & A take the stand? Don't they have to wait until after Billy's trial before the Civil trial?

Why do they even need a trial when it is already proven that the Wagner's are liable? Well, the big question is how liable are Rita and Fred and they are tricky and a jury would need to determine that.

And a jury determines damages so there has to be a trial I think unless all 6 defendants agree to settle out of court which won't happen.

Unfortunately there might not be any media coverage of the civil court proceedings. Thanks for getting documents for this civil case. FW's document is awesome to have.

That bit of information revealed at trial is very revealing. What else would she be instructing AW to say to LE about AW buying those shoes if not to provide some kind of cover for the actual purpose for the shoes. Why would Fredericka Wagner instruct Angela to lie to BCI if she didn't know the actual reason and the consequences?

JMO, Fredericka's offer to lie indicates she knew about the murders.

Tony's pretrial statement has listed them to be called as witnesses.
I think Tony will get a default judgment against Billy, Angela and Jake since they did not respond to the civil trial filing in 2020. I do not think the civil trial would be for at least a couple more years. I posted his pretrial statement a couple weeks ago. Rita is defending herself so far which is probably not a great idea. She filed her own response to the 2020 civil filing.

I feel that there is definitely not as much interest in covering the civil trial hearings as the criminal trial. I have asked and did not got a solid answer if it will be covered, I am hoping so. Maybe an article or something will come out soon that the hearing is happening August 10th and maybe at least a reporter will cover the hearing and do an article, even if there are not cameras.

Do you really think WCPO would scrub this article? I would hope not, especially after this evidence came out during George's trial.

Later, Canepa asked Angela whether she knew who was responsible for the footprints; she initially responded that she didn't. Canepa asked her to read a transcript of the testimony she gave the prosecution during her plea deal, which Angela said sparked her memory.

She quietly replied that George had told her the bloody footprints at the home where Chris Sr. and Gary were murdered were his.

Of course FW is going to be aggressive with the judge, asking for summary judgment.

I believe that FW got about 900k in life insurance and the 260 Peterson Rd property sold for 200K from the research I did back then. Either way its a very good article.

We only know of that life insurance because it had to go through probate, there may be more that did not have to go through probate.

The Peterson Rd. property is currently for sale for $647K. Not going to post a link since the W's are no longer affiliated with it but easy to find the listing. Lots of updates done to it.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A man who lost several relatives in the killings of eight people in southern Ohio four years ago filed a wrongful death lawsuit Tuesday against the suspects, saying he wants to be sure none of them receive financial gain from the crime.

The victims were 40-year-old Christopher Rhoden Sr.; his ex-wife, 37-year-old Dana Rhoden; their three children, 20-year-old Clarence “Frankie” Rhoden, 16-year-old Christopher Jr., and 19-year-old Hanna; Clarence Rhoden’s fiancée, 20-year-old Hannah Gilley; Christopher Rhoden Sr.’s brother, 44-year-old Kenneth Rhoden; and a cousin, 38-year-old Gary Rhoden.

WAVERLY, Ohio (WXIX) - Family matriarch Fredericka Wagner wants the court to dismiss her as one of the defendants in the wrongful death lawsuit filed by relatives of the victims of the Pike County massacre.

Her lawyer made the request in a court filing Friday ahead of several pretrial hearings and status conferences on the case that are scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Thursday.

@twall
Thanks, found it. That sure is a lot more than was paid for it. The new owners may have been very tired of people riding by and taking pictures. If they can get that much I am sure they probably would want to sale it for that reason also. Looks better than it did when the Wagner's lived there and it was for sale.
