This trial could have been over in a week had it not been for Canepa's insistence that they show every piece of evidence against jake and Angie alone. She effectively tried Jake and Angie before the jury and proved their guilt to the jury. It might not be a good thing for her to have proved to the jury that Jake and Angie were proved guilty right before their eyes of murdering 8 people.

It’s a conspiracy trial at its root. So the state has to show evidence of the whole crime and the evidence against various conspirators. The evidence against any of the 4 is about the criminal conspiracy they engaged in. In a bank robbery, one robber is a bank employee who provides inside info about deposits and alarms, two go in and rob the bank and a 4th is a getaway driver. You can’t prosecute the inside guy without detailing what the other guys did. In this case, you have to show the 4 crime scenes, the autopsies of the victims, all the ballistics, and what the two confessed killers did. In a crime this senseless and horrific, you should establish some motive. You have to show how criminal A ON TRIAL IS LINKED TO those who confessed.
