The part about victim bashing toward the Rs.
It was widely reported there was a bed bug infestation.
A year after slayings, few answers in Pike County
Respectfully, that is how the journalist wrote the article. It’s never been stated by LE or a direct investigative source that any of the homes were infested. There was an invoice pulled from public records that showed a charge for bed bug treatment.
Respectfully, it was reported as “infestation” , on the local news stations, as well. Not as “trailer homes were ‘pretreated’ to prevent a future infestation.” MOO
My point is despite how it was reported, that has never been stated as fact by any investigative offices involved. Could they have been infested? Sure. Could the treatment also have been for preventive measures? Absolutely. No where on that public invoice obtained by the media did it say homes were infested. The media said that. The media is also notorious for sensationalizing information for ratings and viewers attention. COW.
Not only were the Rhodens painted as weed growing, dog fighting, gamecock owning backwoods hillbillies who may have been killed by a cartel, why not throw in some bed bugs just to come full circle and really make the public not care? JMHO.
As I recall, the bed bugs were not disclosed until months later, and by then we had a pretty good idea of the Rhodens and all their shortcomings. I don't think the bedbugs made them look any worse then they already did.
This is where it began. LE has never said the homes or one home was invested. LE simply provided an invoice that noted bed bug extermination as an expense incurred in the investigation.
And then a reply by @iridized stating “by then we had a pretty good idea of the Rhodens and their shortcomings. I don’t think the bedbugs made them look any worse than they already did.
I could reason with these statements if we were in 2016, in the months after the murders when little was known. Since then, there has been indictments and arrests as well as a partial motive stated by Dewine. Therefore, this comes off to me as victim slandering. What is the purpose of discussing these things that are at this point irrelevant to this case? It’s an honest question, no snark inteneded. I respect you immensely RSD and I appreciate all of your input. I am struggling to understand why all of the above is necessary now. That’s all. Personally, I believe we need to look at the W’s and their shortcomings. They’re alive. The victims are not. All of these things have already been discussed when revealed. I’m concerned about what the intention is of rehashing old news. I hope this makes sense and doesn’t sound rude. I’m being genuine. The media took an invoice and reported as they saw fit.
