The judge said no contact at all didn't he? Or did I hear that wrong? That means she cannot talk to her mother, MIL, husband or sons about anything IMO. That would mean the ban is not just on the crime but on any communication. To me that would be hard knowing her grandmother is very ill.

Could family or friends be charged with a crime if they try to circumvent the judge's order by delivering messages she might try to send to family members who are co defendants?

Would any family or friends be stupid enough to try to deliver a message from her knowing the phones and visits are recorded and all letters are read prior to being mailed? They would get caught in a heartbeat.

I would not think anyone would be that stupid.

No, she cannot, and I'd guess their attys, as did hers, told them not to communicate with her, either. However, that doesn't mean that other family members can't talk to her about what is in the news. She just can't discuss her case with the public, or news media, and I'd not discuss my case at all over jail phones anyway unless it was with my atty. I think their main goal with the gag orders, is to avoid a mistrial, and to lessen what gets out into the public so they can seat a jury there in Pike County. Junk wants the trial kept there.

I'm doing some research on Google trying to figure out specifics of "indirect" contact. In those cases, there would be trouble for AW and probably others if she tries to pass information to one of the co-defendants through a third party - another family member, friend, etc. Haven't found a whole lot yet, but I think the third party could also be charged with something.

Otherwise, yeah, "direct" contact with co-defendants is forbidden by the order. So many examples online refer to domestic violence cases, but even violation of those orders between partners can result in an arrest. Maybe we should ask for a WS verified attorney for help in understanding what that means. For certain, if I were an outside friend or family member, I wouldn't take the risk of communicating at all with any of the W's. If I did, I wouldn't talk to them at all about the arrests, murders or anything. JMO.

I would think anyone trying to pass on a message from her would be charged with contempt of court at the very least.

It is a good idea to try to get one of the attorneys to explain what it could mean for Angie or any family and friends who violate the order.

But can other family members pass on messages from her mother about her grandmother.

The reason I keep hammering on this is because it could be a way for the prosecution to put pressure on her.

Think about it. Angie's grandmother is very ill according to Rita. Wouldn't it be agony not to know if her condition is worsening or if she passes? Also not to know how Rita is doing.

They might be trying to put enough pressure on her that she breaks and starts talking.

I bet she’s crying a lot these days.
Jail is hard! Once you’re sentenced & in prison, you can move forward, adjust to your future, the fear & antipitation is over, (pertaining to what is going to happen).
In jail, one only waits & waits & waits more. There’s little to do. Jails aren’t set up to house people indefinitely. Prisons offer a yard, recreation, work, classes & other things to ease the boredom of the incarcerated & aide in preventing chaos.
AW is probably accustomed to running the family & now it’s killing her to not know their defense strategy, she must wonder if a family member is putting blame on her.
I’d have a heart attack.

I'm a tad claustrophobic, so just the thought of living in a 6x9, is not a good thing. and yes, jail is hard!!

They could pass info like that on. That's not about the case. If AW's brother was talking to her on the phone and told her how her grandmother's health is, that wouldn't be against the rules. Pretty much, no one talks on the phone , or writes, about, their case, while awaiting trial (unless they just slip up, or are total imbeciles).

A family member can also call the jail & ask the guard on duty to pass info relating to near death or death of next of kin. I’ve been to more than one funeral with a family member in attendance wearing an orange “suit” with chains a dangling, escorted by a deputy. Happens daily, I think. If the sheriff or jailer has manpower & thinks there’s no risk, they will allow an incarcerated person to attend the funeral of an immediate family member.
No, I don’t think any Wag will be allowed to attend any funerals in the future. Not after making escape plans, allegedly. Just to be clear.

Wagner, in a blue Delaware County Jail uniform and her shoulder-length hair pulled back, appeared to be holding back emotions as Pike County Common Pleas Judge Randy Deering read the list of co-defendants she cannot contact for the duration of the case - her husband, her two sons, her mother, and mother-in-law.

The order was the only one placed on record Monday during 48-year-old Angela Wagner's first of what will be many pretrial hearings.

I've had family allowed attend the funeral, for next of kin, and they were permitted to attend in street clothes, with the guard seated nearby. Final goodbye calls are patched through too, nurses will verify that the kin is nigh to drawing their last, and the facility will patch the inmate through, to speak to their loved one.

I wouldn't be surprised if AW and the boys, were arranged a call to RN's mother should her time approach, but I agree, I don't see it in the cards, for the Ws being given approval for a deathbed visit, nor attending a funeral, at this juncture.

I bet phone calls are a lot like:

Outside person: You doin’ ok?

AW:...... how are things, you have any news.

OP: Ahh....I think things are good.

AW: really not hearing much are you?

OP: been watching the news

AW: so worried about the boys

OP: I think things are good

Blah blah. I think convos are void of content.

WCPO link to live coverage of Angela Wagner's pre-trial hearing. Should be starting soon. Camera is on, but AW is not in the courtroom yet.

Pike Co. massacre suspect in court for pretrial hearing

Prosecutors just went through the door behind the bench, so assume the attorneys are having a conference.
I was going to say something, but changed my mind. Now I can't delete. Am I missing something? As you can see I'm new here but have enjoyed all your comments.

Pretty much. Been there, done that convo. (Edit; in another case, different folks, and not a murder case, j.s.) That's the typical banter.

Welcome! It's easier for me to just delete my comment, and leave the words Self Delete, or Deleted, then save that comment. Hope that makes sense.

Ditto. I also prefer my “crapper” to NOT be in my LR/BR/DR area. I dig open concept but do like bathroom walls. Just my taste.

This is a funny thought:

Think of JW’s attorney discussing strategy with him. Maybe JW constantly interrupts “but my mom said”, or “no my mom told me”. Imagine how irritated his attorney would be. Lol
The attorney probably then advises JW he should NOT discuss the case with anyone, especially his mom. Lol
JW may think his mom the smartest person on earth & cant understand his atty not wanting her input/advice.

I "select all" the whole comment quote and all, then hit "cut" and presto, all gone.

I knew that RN and FW have Pretrial this week but on the news they said GW4 has Pretrial this week too. What day is his?

That, and being served, basically dog food, on a tray stamped, For Zoo or Prison Use, would be a problem for me too.

The 4 might not remember holidays of the past. But I
bet all 4 will remember T-giving, Xmas & NYE 2018 for many years.

We really didn’t learn much today, did we?
Other than AW isn’t heeding the advice of her attorney.
I think the no communication thing is what made her on the verge of tears.
