Surely his lawyer bills wouldn't be that high. It's Piketon, OH. A family court lawyer shouldn't be over $1,500, and that's if anyone contested, and they had to have a hearing.

I agree. He should have only had 2 - 3 credit card statements when that article was written too.

I placed the interviews in chronological order rather than by name. I felt a few things were interesting in seeing it this way, my opinion only of course:
1. It appears 4 months after the initial Jake video something may have led them to come back to the W's but via Billy. Less than a month later to Angela.
2. It was nearly 6 months later before they went back to Jake.
3. A month after that May gets very active with interviews before the search and right after.
4. Everyone gets interviewed on 5/21 and at some point Angela's switched to video from Audio. This appears to be the first George IV interview.
5. 30 days later "laser focus announced"

Anyone recall if other key things were mentioned in the media right around these interview dates?

I dont have the link on hand, but Dewine said they made a major turn in the investigation within a month of the searches. It was an article about the searches. I believe they got their big break in April '17. I believe JW screwed up majorly in his 4/13/17 interview.JMO

Have these interviews ever been made public? I would love to see/hear them. I joined WS to follow missing Michael Chambers, a missing retired firefighter from Quinlan Tx. Sad case with murder suspected.

This paragraph from the 7/29/16 article:

Wagner set a fundraising goal of $20,000, but said his legal bills were not quite that high. But, he added, his legal bills were four times more than what he expected. The former over-the-road truck driver and trained mechanic has maxed out his credit cards. He said he is paying his lawyer in what is left over after he pays his other bills every month. It hardly makes a dent.

HR had been dead for just 3 months. JW had an 'expected' legal bill, maxed out his credit cards and talks about paying the credit card bills. He didn't pay his lawyer with the credit cards tho.

It would be interesting to know how much his lawyer charged and the payments/dates that JW made.

jmo
That whole go fund me stuff with his quotes makes my blood boil, to think how when I first read it I felt sorry for him being so young with such tragedy and debt. Boy am I glad I never donated a penny. Jmo
Also from 7/29/2016 article:
"However the week before the killings, Rhoden dropped Sophia off on Friday, April 15, Wagner said. He was to return the towheaded toddler to her mom the following Friday, which was April 22 – the day the bodies were discovered
won custody last month."

HR gave birth to KR on April 17. S was photographed with her Mom and new sister during HR's hospital stay so according to the above info from the W's, somebody would have had to pick S up from the W's or one of the W's themselves had to bring her there. It's funny how that was never mentioned by AW or JW, bringing her to see her Mom in the hospital after delivery or someone coming to get her from their custody and then bringing her back.

None of this jives with JW's quoted statements in the CG interview. "Hate seeing my daughter cry" article"
"Hanna Rhoden and Wagner shared custody of Sophia, who was supposed to be with her mom that fateful Friday evening, he said. But Wagner picked her up a day earlier than normal: "I reckon we missed it by just hours."

CG the reporter has said on her Twitter that she saved everything. I think that will come in very handy for prosecutors in helping to sorting out the conflicting stories in court.

The murders didn't happen on a Friday evening. The phrase, that "fateful Fri evening" should actually read, the "early hours of Fri. morning". Is it just a typo? Were those his words? Does it even matter?

JW does talk about seeing K at the hospital. Remember, he checked for the familial trait, the coveted Hammer Toe. I think he did have S, and took her to the hospital, like anyone else would. It was only CG that was openly unwelcome.

There's no one left alive to verify anything either, unless he has a witness(es), and/or an airtight alibi, and since he and the others, are sitting in four separate detention facilities, I don't feel they had latter for the time-frame that the murders occurred. That's a problem, if so.

Some really interesting info and thoughts on this thread.
A great group of WebSleuths
Random comments after catching up on reading:
All following is my humble opinion only -

Notary Public - (have had occasion to use NP many times, many different States over the years, simple transactions...) and every Notary
has had to keep a detailed log or journal of the “transactions” they have done when using the Notary Stamp. I believe detail includes fees collected. LE must have confiscated this log, and if not...they should.
It would provide some good time frame, chronology, if true and accurate. If not true and accurate, it would present a different story than
verbal claims.
Additionally, I wonder what Judge (name) ok’d this commission.

Tenacity of Lawyers in demanding - no restraints, shackles, cuffs, and insisting no permission to media to show accused in restraints
Also demand to allow accused to wear street clothing.
All are routine demands made by attorneys in death penalty cases.
It builds a paper trail and record in case of an appeal.
Some may say these demands also build a record to justify a change of venue for trial, due to special needs and additional personnel to accommodate or guarantee these “small” details/demands, making a PikeCo.venue unable to accommodate/finance (4 or 6 trials? *) equally.

The info on the film, BoondockSaints, is very interesting.
Much there to discuss. So many random clues.

* 4 or 6 individual Trials?
The Grannies, ( GreatGrannies to Sophie) may/may not go to trial, in my opinion, as Prosecutor, in their trials, may be forced to reveal information that prosecution would rather keep under wraps as long as possible.
I don’t know the law, but seems I had the impression those 2 would be required to go to trial sooner than the other 4 . Something different about their charges that the timing for speedy trial is different???
Anyone know for sure?

If Canepa compartmentalizes the grannies cases it wouldn't effect the other 4 trials significantly. They could just stick to the factual law violations of each grannie, & reference the brutality of the crimes they helped cover up in general terms to put the severity in context.

I was a notary public in ohio for several years, ohio does not require you to keep a log of notarizing papers

In addition to capital murder, the four members of the Wagner family are each accused of forging a set of custody documents 19 days before the murders. The documents are not on record in Pike County Juvenile Court and prosecutors have revealed little else about them.
Pike County investigation: 8 deaths and multiple arrests were tied to one key factor — child custody
Anybody else have questions on why documents were forged 19 days before the murders, in regards to the premeditation charges? Forgery is a black and white crime. Either the notarized documents were forged or they were not.

My opinion only...but....
This is GOLD!
LE/BCI could have easily and very quickly researched this ”document “ claim.
Meaning LE immediately verified document to be false, a forgery, a bold, huge yet blatant lie.
So, in my mind this is the most important piece of the chronology we know of at this time.
Very important as it shows the start of a plan, and those who participated. LE/BCI would have to be wondering ...WHY?
JW was interviewed, (video) mid May. No doubt this very important “Document” was discussed in great detail. The lack of filing in the court system, possibly a Notary Seal to indicate “authenticity” to untrained eyes, or those easily manipulated... this is where it all began to fall apart for the Wagners.

Thanks. Ok, I don’t doubt your experiences. Not trying to start an argument.

I’ve used Notarys often in Ohio, but always at a bank. They have always kept a log. Maybe banks are more stringent.
Did you have to report the fees?

In reading all the State of Ohio info, FAQ’s it is confusing and unclear.
Here is my reason for the post. Again, I’m not trying to start an argument- It does appear as if the journal may NOT be mandatory.
Some type of record keeping is alluded to.

“Every Ohio notary needs a notary record book to record every notarial act he or she performs.
( A notary record book is also referred to as a “journal of notarial acts” or a “notary journal.”)
The entries you record in the record book will be used as evidence if a notarial act you performed is ever questioned in a court of law.
Notary record books also build customer confidence and discourage fraudulent transactions.
This useful and economical Ohio notary record book accommodates 350 entries and includes step-by-step instructions for recording notarial acts. The book is chronologically numbered so that it will be easy to detect if a record is tampered with. This journal meets or exceeds Ohio state requirements for proper notarial record keeping

Surely his lawyer bills wouldn't be that high. It's Piketon, OH. A family court lawyer shouldn't be over $1,500, and that's if anyone contested, and they had to have a hearing.

I know in my part of Ohio my son was quoted 2000.00 for a non contested divorce with no custody issues. For that price he and is soon to be ex had to agree on everything (property division, custody, parenting time etc) For one involving child custody, shared parenting, parenting time disputes it was 5000.00 to start. He was told over and over that if there is any dispute on child custody, parenting times etc it would get very expensive.

I know JW wasn't getting a divorce, but just to show what a case involving children could cost.

Rhoden case: 'Hate seeing my daughter cry'

I think it does matter. It seems making sure the stories consistently said Friday was important to the Wags for some reason. I feel something in an interview somewhere was said and these statements are all part of trying to cover up what may have been either the actual exchange or Jakes words following the murders.

"Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly reported when Hanna Rhoden's daughter went to stay with her father, Jake Wagner. Rhoden dropped her daughter off on Friday, April 15, 2016.

"Kendra Rhoden said nothing seemed amiss with her dad or other family members in the days leading up to April 22.

Just like many nights, Kendra was going to spend the night with her cousin Hanna and Hanna’s 5-day-old baby girl Kylie the night of April 21. But Kendra needed the cash a last-minute, overnight babysitting job would bring. So she said she’d see Hanna — who was like an inseparable sister to her – the next day."

"Hanna, 19, had packed up her older daughter, Sophia Wagner, and dropped her off at her father's home on Friday April 15."

I'm also still confused if all this fighting was going on, custody was contentious, and a supposed altercation took place between CSR and BW, how did nothing seem amiss? I feel either- the fighting has been exaggerated or the friendly JW crib put together etc. has been exaggerated. -my opinion

Maybe he maxed out his credit cards buying brass catchers, shoes and stuff to make silencers with at Walmart?

How much did an attorney charge him to file a few papers? Did he have to prove he was her father? I don't see it being an expensive court filing even with what attorneys charge. He was the surviving parent and he would get custody. I'd think it just took a couple signatures to get that done. I could be wrong. But if his cards were nearly maxed out already, he may have had to do that to get it done. Something does not sound right about all that...

JW does talk about seeing K at the hospital. Remember, he checked for the familial trait, the coveted Hammer Toe. I think he did have S, and took her to the hospital, like anyone else would. It was only CG that was openly unwelcome.

He mentions shortly after she was born but doesn't state the hospital specifically. The good news would be if it happened at the hospital, it could be proven he was there personally by others that where present or video security. I still have him at hospital personally and putting up a crib with question marks for now.

"And there is nothing Wagner would like more, he said, fondly recalling how he pulled the tiny sock off her itty, bitty foot shortly after she was born on April 17. He was checking for a hammer index toe: A Wagner family trait."
