Maybe CRsr had a weapon and was firing at intruders. There was a shootout. Semis can unload fast.
If that's the case, too bad Chris didn't have an AR 15! There would be no need to search for the killers!

This could be the case. There may even be evidence that an intruder was hit. Only LE knows...

If he was armed, with any firearm, and was adept with it, and had the upper hand, this could have been the scenario (or the assailant may have at least been wounded). He could have had ten AR-15s but being caught off guard, he'd still be dead. Most people don't sleep with their firearms strapped to their bodies, or have a machine gun nest in their bedroom. If he knew something was in the air, he might have taken some extra precautions though. That's why I don't think they had any clue this was coming. These folks were most likely familiar w/firearms and had them in their homes, and I'd be very surprised if they didn't have, at the very least, one in their bedrooms.

When they first moved the homes, I thought ohmygosh.
But then after thinking a bit, I thought it was really a great idea.
Great way to preserve scenes and to keep evidence inside secured, as well as protect items inside that hopefully someday will be given to family members.
If they had left these homes where they stood that day, no doubt they would have been vandalized by now, if not worse.. arson. They would be of no value to family or LE at all then.
The area where this massacre occured is out there. Way out. You can drive miles on the main highway passing their road and not pass a soul. When the roads were finally opened back up, there were alot of drive-bys and folks taking pictures just to "see where it happened".
This was huge, CNN, FOX and all was showing footage of it nationwide.
No one deserves to be murdered. The folks whose lives were taken, lost their privacy too that day. I am glad they took the homes....I can see the vandals out there now rummaging through, just snooping. This gives what few momentos and pictures there may be left of theirs a chance to make it to surviving family members one day. To me, that's one good thing that could come from all this.

BBM.
I think they let the killer(s) into their homes because they were familiar with them.
Maybe it was a friendly visit gone wrong?

I cannot imagine a friendly visit could go THAT wrong! Not to set off a killing spree leaving eight people dead. I can see Chris or Gary getting into a big fight with somebody, one of them getting killed and the other dying because he was a witness. But not six more people. :drama:

Unfortunately it also gives them the chance to remove and destroy evidence if there is a need to hide something from the public...

With the majority found in bed, I think the assailant(s) broke in. With that many people in the house, if anyone heard anything going down, I'd say someone could have started a call to 911, or maybe even gotten to a gun, or run out the back way for help. They deliberately went in while these folks were sleeping and murdered them in their sleep (except CR1 and possibly GR).

I will agree with you there 100 percent. Whomever did this, caught them off guard, went to each home and took everyone down (except children) and moved to the next home. I think they knew the families and had visited the homes to a degree to be able to do that (considering there ARE other houses among the properties), the debris in the yards that you would fall and break your leg over even during a full moon. AND the fact they did indeed take down the security cameras at each place that had them. They KNEW where all of those cameras were.
You know, I have been thinking also.....the killers (yeah they are killers) probably spent time visiting, was known to others. Their fingerprints would be around. That is going to slow LE down big time. I THINK LE has a good idea of the WHODIDIT but getting evidence, proof and so on to make it stick is another ballgame. This is going to take some time... but I DO believe LE knows who.

I'm a night owl and was outside around 1:30 in the morning when the moon was full the other night. It was a really nice harvest moon so it was really bright but it was almost like daylight out there. I just played with the dogs a bit and enjoyed the night. In the shadows around the house, when I first went out, I had to let my eyes adjust a bit, but had no problem navigating the shadowed areas afterward. I thought of the Rhodens. While the full moon in April was not as big and bright as the harvest moon, it would still have provided quite a lot of light. However, I wonder if it had rained, if they'd put off their plans?

There are simple things not known that could change the whole perspective of this case.
1. Why and how long was GR there? Was he hiding out or visiting? Was he welcomed by all? Did he get brought into the "enterprises" against others wishes?
2. How close was KR to the rest? Involved with all the "enterprises" or somewhat of a competitor?
3. How well did Cr1, Gr, and KR get along? Any friction for any reasons?
4. On the outside they all seemed to get along but what about behind closed doors? Was there sibling rivalry? Did CR1 and DR get along with HR and HG?

When you think about it it is amazing how little is known about the actual family dynamics, only speculation...

Unfortunately, the videos and articles that have been done has mainly focused on the murders. There haven't been any human interest articles done on family members other than a few sentences here and there about the individuals. Something like that could really open up several other avenues to explore and consider, but so far, I haven't heard of anything like that being in the works with our victim's here. Maybe someday a few of the cousins will get together and do a story like that, but I doubt it will be done in the near future. Still too many open wounds and frayed nerves from losing an entire family.

Another bust.

30 people arrested in weekend sweep in Chillicothe

At least 50 local, state and federal officers and two SWAT teams converged on Chillicothe to make the arrests. Twenty-two were felony indictments while eight were misdemeanors.

A press conference held at noon Monday at Chillicothe-Ross County Law Enforcement Complex unveiled results of the sweep, spurred by Friday's grand jury session, in which 38 indictments were returned, but only eight were open. The rest were secret indictments, meaning they were not open to the public until they are served. Twenty-eight of those cases were related to the drug investigations.

Yep you are right. I oftentimes admire full moons. You raise a good point, I do believe the moon was a consideration.. But also the weather. If it had been rainy/muddy I would think that would have delayed the plan. Footprints in mud!

Great post! You bring many interesting points. Lot of questions I would love to hear answers to. I would really ENJOY hearing about the people. Seriously. Not sure who is left to chat with who knew them all well. I have thought about visiting LM, dunno.

I wish I was close enough to visit them! I think that would be great. Get to know about them, and not like a reporter just to get info and sell papers and then forget about the people you befriended.

The obituary calls GR, CR1's, quote, "best friend and cousin".

Also, GR's obituary states that he is "of Greenup". and he passed away "in Piketon". If the deceased is living elsewhere, the obituary usually reads, "formerly of ______". I've noticed this w/the obituaries.

Once your eyes adjust, it is amazing how well you can see with moonlight. You can see well enough to drive. I did that a few times when I was a kid when there was no traffic...

I doubt an obituary would note that they did not get along well if they were supposedly living the same place... Maybe the person supplying that info did not know the situation...

That's what I was thinking. Usually, a family member gives info to the funeral home, and they write the obit from that, or print an obit that a family member or close friend has written. So, either he lived in Greenup longer than Piketon, or it was not made clear that he was living in Piketon at the time he died.
