The tongue can swell after a body has been dead for a certain period of time. Also can turn dark or turn blue if the person had their mouth open and the tongue was exposed to air and dried out. I asked my friend who is going to mortuary school, and that was her response.

Also, perhaps one or more of them had a pierced tongue?

I sure hope it's something explainable like this and not something more sinister.

I really thought you emptied your bladder upon death. Am I totally wrong? Chris Jr., that I recall off hand, had quite a bit of urine in his bladder. What's up with that?

I thought that also. I thought all bodily functions withheld by muscles were released....

That's not entirely correct. There are some areas of information redacted in some reports that are not redacted in others. Anything redacted for one and not another likely means there is something that may have significance. What that significance is I don't know..

As an example, what was redacted in HG & DR's report where it describes the tongue? Compare that to some others where is simply says "tongue was atraumatic". For both CRsr & CRjrs that part is redacted along with a lot more of that section.

Same with the descriptions of stomach contents. Sometimes it's listed, other times redacted.

Might not end up meaning much, but clearly someone thinks it must mean something.

Hopefully this will be a slow news weekend so the reporters can go over the autopsy reports in detail and tell us what their sources think this all means.

I also noticed the redacting of a statement for all of the men in regards to genitalia.

Anyone else find it odd that Hannah G is the only one whose autopsy mentioned dried blood re: her appearance? Random but something that stood out to me.

I also thought it was odd.

I didn't go back and check but thought maybe in the other reports that a similar comment could have been part of the redacted sections.

Or perhaps it was because she was the only one in bed with another victim. IIRC the report for her mentioned blood spatter on her upper torso, so maybe it was FR blood if he was killed first.

Also, their baby was found in the bed with them "covered in blood", so it could have been that there was just a lot more blood due to the location of the wounds. Or because the baby was crawling next to (on?) his deceased parents.

I just took the tongue redaction to mean that there was trauma (possibly reflexive biting down). I have epilepsy. Let me tell ya, when your brain's wiring shuts down, your tongue takes a a real beating.

Did anyone notice the notation that Gary , had deformed fingernails? It was redacted in between as if this was not a "natural "occurrence...

There was a redacted special mention of genitals in FR's autopsy. Under Exteral Examination General:

Yes, I noticed that as well.

Spice that boredom up with drugs and other crime, and we have a recipe for disaster. I'm so sad for that region, from what I've read they're proud and independent people, and their needs are being ignored by the rest of the country. I'm sure this is true for a lot of places all over the world, but they haven't caught my attention the way Pike County did on April 22nd. :-)

True. Generally speaking, folks that are fairly happy in life, don't normally get addicted to drugs. (Excluding getting hooked after being in a bad accident, for example.) My grandparents on one side of the family, never had running water (they passed in late 70s) and, by today's standards, would have been considered poor. I never saw them as such. They just didn't have running water and we used an outhouse there. I never thought much about it growing up. Distance and lack of a dependable vehicles make things more difficult for some. The nearest grocery store to me, is 12 miles away, and I live in the foothills. There's no bus routes, no taxis, no bike lanes, walking would take around three hours (and there's no edge to the road so ya gotta take the ditch if a car comes along). If one doesn't have dependable transportation it's a real problem to get to work, to the doctor, dentist, the grocery, etc...

[h=2]Pee and Poo[/h]While some muscles spontaneously contract after death — and though all muscles eventually tighten into rigor mortis — others are loosening their grip entirely. Meanwhile, the part of your brain that regulates involuntary functions is shutting down. Specifically, the region of your brain that controls the muscles that hold your sphincter closed becomes incapacitated following death. Just like those rare occasions where you laughed so hard you peed in your pants, you will pee and poop in the spontaneous relaxation of your muscles following death. In fact, it’s not just the muscles but also the gas produced inside your body following death that will cause peeing and pooping. There’s really not much to say about this, right? Death is simply not pretty, nor was it meant to be.

I hate to say this, but, considering where, and how, they found the baby... I was kinda thinking along a rather horrible train of thought.

What do y'all think about KR having one GSW to the head and the skull/bone fractures of CR 1 and GR?

I think it is very strange that all the others had multiple gunshot wounds to the head and he only had one. Made me wonder if it was a murder suicide thing but I think we would know by now if that was the case?

This is why I'm waiting for someone on here who has a medical background (nurses and doctors) to respond to the autopsy reports. I used to work in a health care office and talked to the nurses, but I do not understand the things that naturally happen to a person's body after death. I noticed in Chris Jr's report there was some marks on his left elbow and forearm and to me, it looks like a defense area. But I'm not sure. That's why I'm waiting. They also said in a couple of them something about the tyhroid gland being conjested and purple. To me, that could mean choking, strangle, something they breathed in. I don't want to jump to the wrong conclusions. Someone with medical background and/or autopsy background would know what this termenology means.

I believe they specifically ruled that out near the beginning, but maybe it was staged to look like it. I think it's an important detail.

Surely someone from the media will consult with and interview a forensic pathologist or specialist that has experience with fatal traumas like this. It will be interesting to hear their take on what few details we have.

I'm in a rural area and have a similar situation to you. About the same distance to a grocery store. No public transportation. No bike lanes. No cable TV, only DirecTV or Dish.Very poor cell service. My doctors are 30-70 miles away. I have to keep my car in good repair or I'm screwed...

I'm kind of expecting one of the news stations to do that.

I'd bet my last nickel Hannah was hit in the carotid artery, probably fly just below the area behind the ear lobe.

Or you could ask one of these folks...
