Donald Stone story

He said: 'Kenneth would normally padlock the camper where he lived from the outside when he left.

'I was supposed to meet him the night before and go to work on some cars with him in the morning.

'When I didn't hear from him I went to the camper and it was unlocked and his truck was outside and I felt there must have been something wrong.

'It was the afternoon and he would normally be out working on cars at 5.30 am.'

....

'Kenneth loved me like a brother. He was always looking out for me and would take me out for food just for my company and he would give me a few dollars here and there.

'I was going to work with him repairing cars and we had been to a couple of auctions together earlier this month.'

Good theory. Factually though, I haven't read anywhere the witnesses were aware of trouble brewing. Not sure they would say so openly either.

Let's speculate there were rumours floating about trouble:

- Could it explain why BJM brought friends with her to do her work at CR1? I never understood that part.

The rumour could have been floating, It's a possibility. It doesn't* necessarily mean it's directly related to the crime.

DR posted on BH's (her deceased friend's) FB page every day. A couple of days before the murders she made a post asking him to watch over her and her family like never before. To me that indicates she knew trouble was coming.

Here's the link to KRs daughter's story. I snipped the part I was talking about.

“We’re calling him. We’re leaving messages. He was supposed to be at work. Well, then, 12 o’clock came around, he was supposed to be on break. My dad never ignored me,” Kendra recalled. She'd thought her dad was at his job in Columbus.

Below is article where DS stated he was supposed to spend the night.

Stone said he was due to have spent the previous evening with his cousin and slept overnight there

I was supposed to meet with him the night before and go work on some cars with him in the morning.

Yesterday, I had a strange feeling about this case. Like it will be solved soon or something disturbing will come out. I don't know... I listen to Dr Laura and I know what she tells her callers... feelings change.

It's possible that DNA tests have been done concerning the father of the baby... and neither guy matched.

Yeah, he sounds likethe type of neighbor nobody wants! Kinda like if he feels that way, he should have purchased 15 acres someplace isolated from everybody else!

OK.....
There is a flaw in the slaw, conflicting stories here.

KR was to be at work in Columbus early according to his daughter KR. She said he would have left early, and his phone those first hours went to voicemail, she thought he was at work.

Along comes DS all cleaned up and he goes to KRs camper to check on him after a time. (Why did he wait to check on him...) His story you can look back and see.

HOWEVER. DS said he was supposed to spend the night with KR as they were to work on cars that morning, BUT he decided to spend the night with his girlfriend instead.

KR said she talked to her dad often, so I would THINK she's telling the truth.
Both of these stories simply cannot be true.

Later on in the story;
KR said her Dad never picked up his phone, so after awhile she called DS to go check on him. I guess b/c she was too distraught over all of the news to go check on him herself? If I'd not been able to reach his phone, and I'd then called his place of employment, and he'd not shown up for work that day, I'd have called one of my siblings and we'd have gone to check on my father. That's just me. I've never heard DS say that he stayed the night with his gf, only that he was supposed to stay the night with KR, but did not. OP was looking for a link to DS and gf not long ago and I don't think they found one.

I was supposed to meet with him the night before and go work on some cars with him in the morning.

Then, the family sent a friend and a Rhoden cousin over to check Kenneth’s home. The pair called Kendra’s aunt to tell her the news.
Apparently DS was not alone when he made the discovery.

It could well be that both stories are true. KR tried to reach her father thinking he worked. And DS did not show up to the initial plan.

Did her brother try?

You could be right. May be it was their first time at CR1. Maybe with the large number of cars they thought they had a lot of visitors.

.
They don't live too far from there, I don't think, I'd bet most folks around there knew that it was just cars in varying states of decay.

It seems the 2 links provide different stories about DS going to KR

In one, he is going apparently on his own initiative
In the other, he goes with another friend after a contact from family

They both happened. The point I am making, is. If DS was as close as he said he was, he would have known KR was working in Columbus. Maybe he did not know about him working there and he was not being truthful about his "plans" with KR to spend the night and work on cars next day.

Is there a chance that KR did not really have a job in Columbus at all? Perhaps he just told his kids and ex-wife that to hide any illegal business he may have been involved in? Is His daughter the only reference of this job in Columbus?

Why would he have been out working on the cars on a workday? Why would he have taken off work to go piddling with DS when he had recently started the job at US Utilities?

That was also just the day before the trial w/the woman who slapped her son, wasn't it? There was also the drama surrounding her daughter. I tended to think that it probably surrounded those events.

Do you know where it said he worked for US Utilities? I must have missed that

When you look back at the aerials though, the property didn't start looking like that until the last 3-4 years. Five at the most. Neighbors probably got a bit more disgruntled with each passing year. Then all of the kids running up and down the road in the cars. You can see that by the number of tickets. Those tickets could have been the results of complaints.

As I see it, KR has no reason to lie about where her dad was supposed to be. It would only make sense for him to go to work on a normal work day. The story DS gives doesn't fit the normal activity.
