Click here: Pike County Sheriff announces new Major Crimes Task Force | WBNS-10TV Columbus, Ohio | Columbus News, Weather & Sp

"What had been written up as an accident, that as a result of members of the team looking at some information within the files, realized the body needed to be exhumed and properly autopsied. They established that that person had in fact been murdered," Smith said.

Going back to that outlandish theory out of an old gangster movie, could it be possible the victims saw someone commit a murder that was previously ruled an accident and the perpetrator got nervous and killed them?

Just my opine, I find this odd. I have looked for info on this and can not find anything other then this article. Usually there is something written up about a body being exhumed and reclassified as a murder from an accident. jmo Makes me think that le has run out of options in the Rhoden murders and are now looking at cold cases that may have a link and found what was an accident that should have been classified as a murder. I would love to know more about this case that has created a new major crimes task force. jmo idk

I went back myself and found nothing. I reread that over and I'm wondering if he was just giving an example of what they are doing. Like a somewhat fictitious scenario.

Excavating a body to perform an autopsy is a significant decision. The case was writen as an accident. Why reopen that specific file and search through?

It's possible they were looking at death cases* surrounding a person of interest. May be they suspect that POI to have killed before. Looking back 15 to 20 years would mean this person is over 40.

We don't know if it's related to the Rhoden family. What was Ray Pate's theory again?

The woman who slapped Jr was Dana's sister's husband's sister. No actual relation to the Rhodens.

We haven't heard from Mr. Pate or hec in quite sometime. If I'm not mistaken though, Pate seems to lean toward LE? That's a good point though!

Last I checked Mr Pate was inactive. :-(

Thank you.

But wouldn't she have still went to her sister and not the law? Or her brother-in-law? I would. I would tell them hey this is your family so take care of it, before I filed a police report and then wait to see if they got it straightened out.

To me, it just shows even more family feuds in this family, and just adds to the suspect list.

She may have been trying to avoid any violence. There's some folks you just can't deal with. She may have felt going to them personally would escalate the situation. Seems tensions between the two family's were already escalated. I'd not even think to slap an in-law's child (or anyone else's for that matter). I even hold back on giving them a good tongue lashing.

The fact that DR went to the law instead of her sister and BIL could show long term animosity between her and her sister's families. That might fit in with that "fed up" theory.

I don't see the Rhodens as being the obnoxious family members though. I see them as being the providers. CR1 provided a job for BJM and LM so they could earn extra money. He provided a job for GR and helped him get off and stay off drugs and probably got him the job at BBL or paid him from what he was paid for the jobs. Also DS and maybe even extra money for KR. I think even a friend of FR's said he went with CR1 to pick up cars sometimes.

They sound like the kind of people who would go out of their way to help family members and even friends of their children.

I think they were the kind of people who didn't put up with a lot of gruff from other people though.

Do you think that could be the source of the hate that festered until it brewed over into murder?

.
It could have been long-festering, somewhat talked about & planned, and the case then set the plan had been in motion. Possible.

Seems to me "these" family members (and there are a lot ) are a family of hard-headed, stubborn people! With a lot of opinions of whose doing right and who's doing wrong. ( I have some in my family, and am one of them, lol) The difference in some though is, they say their piece and that's that. (me). But some will not. Judgements are made, imbelishments are added, gossip goes back and forth and resentments grow. Anger builds and before you know it, fights either verbal or physical break out.
It seems to me that Dana was trying a different approach by calling in the police about the incident with RCA. Or maybe she wasn't? If someone smacked my child and I just reacted instead of thinking first, I would have been the one arrested and not the person who did it.
Maybe since RCA was a family member she knew she had prior incidents with the law, and choose to get revenge on her for slapping her child, by letting the law handle it? JMO

If she wasn't there when CR2 was slapped, she may have had a cooling off period. If someone slapped my kid and I was standing there, I'd probably have climbed their frame. DR had a history of DV and RA so she wasn't new to getting in the mix.

I know we shouldn't "judge a book by the cover", but one of RCA's relatives would probably have me shaking in my boots if I had to be in the same room with her! Not only do I think by looking at her she's as mean as a snake, but what little I know about her factually, leads me to the same conclusion!

I think that I know of which individual you speak.

Wasn't one of the sister's listed in Dana's obit a Clay to? KMC?

KJMC is married to a Clay. That Clay's brother, I think, is the father to one of BJM's children (KJMC's bil).

Yup, some of those "puzzle pieces" are starting to fit together.

You lost me at KJMC.
Between all the abbreviations at Websluths and this large extended family....plus other cases I read its a wonder I don't talk using abbreviations. :giggle:
