Ya'll probably think this sounds crazy but in the Hazlitt article he warns the journalist off of visiting the one hotel b/c of bed bugs. Bed bugs travel easily! Never had them but cringe at the thought, and check motel mattresses. Yes, I'm that paranoid. Anyway, I was wondering if some sort of deal was going on at the "sketchy" motel and then the bugs were brought back to CR1's. The other homes didn't have them. Which leads me to believe that the folks who stayed at CR1's work trailer were not cohabiting at the other trailers. This makes me think of GR. He was prone to harder drug use and I'm not really buying that he was clean.

Also, I don't think Brownie's age has ever been mentioned. I think I read someplace he adopted her from a shelter. But don't bet money on that statement, tho! But I think that's what I read someplace.

I don't remember about her either but, it doesn't take a dog long to become territorial. My Rott has a ball that no other animal or human had better even think about picking up. I can pick it up and remove it from her mouth, but I advise everyone else not to touch it. She's also like a stick tight to me. She's good w/my spouse and the rest of the family but she's MY dog. I'm HER human. Staying in the camper with KR would make the dog more territorial.

I thought he was Denny Rhoden's son. Denny was Clarence's youngest wasn't he? That would make him a nephew to CR1.

On April 21, her sister Meranda had packed a bag to spend the night after she finished her job at a local pizza parlor, said their grandfather Kenny Shoemaker.

But for whatever reason, Meranda drove past Union Hill Road that night.

She headed home and slept in her own bed.

We don't know at what time she past UHR and why she did not stop. Chelsea R was at FR & HG until 10:30pm. If Meranda Gilley had stopped around that time, they would have met.

OK. Thanks. LM said it looked like a hate crime. I think it's a possibility. I would not exclude some kind of people justice / paramilitary group. It would have needed help from a person close to the victims though. So I am not sure the gang you mention would fit. I was thinking about a group with a different profile: with high moral status.

Respectfully and without the intent of breaking TOS, I would say that a group with religious motivations could fit the environment of the victims. Rare but not unheard of.

If it were the case that individuals motivated by hate were suspected, creating a major crimes unit to dig into old cases would make sense. To be fair though, there could be other reasons for creating this unit.

It's the first I knew about sister Miranda that was suppose to spend the night with Hanna
I would think that the two off them had communicated during the evening by phone (text) and for what ever reason she didn't go there to stay the night. That reason could play a part in what happened. Is it a fact that she drove part that location, (not sure where she lived versus her place or employment. That point and the fact that DS didn't spent the night with Kenneth is odd to me as well. Did DS ever give a a reason for not going to Kenneth's? idk

This is one convoluted story. I do think that someone in this mix must know something that is not being told whether they realize it or not.

I also feel that the victims phones would have held some clues or should have if not that day/night the days leading up to the murders. That is a rural area so maybe not all phones could have been triangulated but I wonder if the calls/text coming in could have been located or were those folks contacted. jmo idk

This stuck out as well, does this mean the suspect/s took the cameras?


None of the dogs at any of the properties were hurt. Surveillance equipment and cameras were taken from the properties, family members said. It’s unclear if anything else was taken from inside the homes.

Yes, EM, drugs are also hard on the skin. Wasn't trying to blame everything on alcohol, but that was the first thing that came to mind. I don't know if Meranda ever stated why she decided to go home. Donald stated he decided to stay with his girlfriend instead of going to Kenny's.

P.S. I'm 99% certain all the personal phones were confiscated as evidence the day of the murders. And, I would think that any call or text that came in could be traced to the cell tower from which it was sent.

You are not paranoid. I am the "have bug spray will travel" kind of person too. I have never had them or even seen them, but you can't be too careful.

I don't see the victims that way. Admittedly they didn't have the cleanest yard in town (yes I am aware that is an understatement) but they weren't bad enough for some religious group to get on a high horse about. Yes they may have sold pot (we don't know if this was the first year they did it or not, I tend to think so since no one claims to know about it) but they weren't running a crack house. They weren't running a prostitution ring (there is no evidence of that). They weren't luring in young teenagers and giving them drugs. There is no evidence anyone in the family was committing adultery and indeed they were technically all unmarried.

I just can't see why a religious group even with a strict moral compass would carry it far enough to kill 8 people. Being of a strict faith myself I can see the minister preaching from the pulpit about the sin, but even the preacher closest to them acted surprised about the "commercial grows" so I tend to think he didn't know anything about it.

I see the victims as people who worked hard at anything they could find to make money. I also see them as helping family and friends. I think they were the kind of people that family depended on if they were in a bind and needed financial help.

I also think that they themselves had somewhat of a high moral compass since there has not even been a rumor of lovers, or them cheating anyone, double crossing anyone on a deal. No one has claimed they lied to them or deceived them in any way. I also tend to think they paid their bills on time since apparently their credit was good enough to get a bank loan to buy DR's house. JMO

Also Kendra Rhoden was supposed to stay with Hanna Rhoden and she did a U turn and went back home. So odd that three different people were supposed to stay at 3 of the 4 crime scenes and canceled last minute. It makes you wonder, along with all the other mind boggling occurrences that's happened with the murders.
