Missing teen identified in ongoing Paint Creek search
CHILLICOTHE - The Ross County Sheriff's Office has identified the missing teen in a search of Paint Creek Monday.
Randon Cochran, 18, is described as standing 6-feet and weighing around 130 to 140 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair that was recently bleached blond.
Capt. Mike Preston, of the Ross County Sheriff's Office, said the search continued Monday morning with multiple agencies assisting in the water, on land, and from the air from Franklin and Ross Counties.
A Ross County Sheriff's Office cruiser served as a roadblock Monday afternoon, blocking non-residents from entering the search area.
On Sunday, Preston said deputies were told the teen and a group of others were camping on an island in the creek in the Buzzard's Roost Nature Preserve area off Red Bird Lane when the teen went into the water and didn't resurface. Someone in the group had used a cell phone to call for help around 3:15 a.m. on Sunday.
Law enforcement searched the area beginning 6 a.m. Sunday through the evening. The search was suspended overnight, with deputies keeping watch in the area, and resumed early Monday morning.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ross County Sheriff's Office at 740-773-1185.
