Neighbor of Ohio girl found dead in trash arrested

AMANDA LEE MYERS, AP

A neighbor was arrested Sunday in the killing of a 9-year-old Ohio girl whose body was found in a trash bin near her home after authorities and residents conducted a frantic search for the missing child.

Jerrod Metsker, 24, was arrested at his home on a murder charge about 12 hours after deputies found the body of Reann Murphy near her home at a mobile park in Smithville, about 30 miles southwest of Akron, Wayne County Sheriff Travis Hutchinson said at a news conference.

It was not immediately clear whether Metsker had an attorney. His first court appearance is scheduled Monday morning...

That guy is absolutely terrifying looking. And as for the FB posts, I honestly can't make sense of any of them. Spelling is a disaster, no punctuation, I really can't make heads or tails of them. What I could make out looked like rambling threats.

little Alanna was killed in the neighbor's home as well.m While Tyler's mom was alleged to be at work.

So was Somer. Perp named Jerrod. I feel sick. So senseless and overwhelmingly sad!

I suspect he might have some challenges intelligence wise. and yes his posts seem threatening but I'll be darned if I can figure out who or what he is angry at. Just that the posts are angry

  • #148
He appears mentally immature from his interests and FB posts. just MOO.

Another poster mentioned the accused's 'terrifying appearance'.

It's my quasi-professional opinion that the facial features of the accused are dysmorphic. What appears to be a metopic ridge, prominent widows peak, very low set ears, micropthalmia (small eyes) probably add up to something. Those features on their own wouldn't necessarily cause concern, but when they are seen together in a single individual, I'm thinking something syndromal.

I would not be surprised if at some point during the legal process the defence submits some sort of congenital anomaly and comorbid mental illness as mitigating factors on behalf of their client.

Suspect and victim were seen together.

I sure would like to know what the circumstances are surrounding this sweet, little girl being seen together with this person?.. I wonder who it is that saw them together and was it known, by whomever was her in charge of her wellbeing at that time, that she was with this person?

I just can think of no reason why this precious, little girl would have been seen with this person and that an immediate reaction would not have been to question what the hell was going on?

On a different note, unrelated to the post above..
As to some finding the opinions expressed about this "person" to be inappropriate and shallow.. I will say that I had read his sick, threatening rambling thoughts before I ever even saw what this person's physical appearance was.. IMO, the opinions expressed absolutely apply and are fully warranted based on the fact that he is IMO, very clearly a twisted, sick freak based upon "who" he expresses himself to be, regardless of "what" he looks like.. IMO he is every bit the sick freak that many have commented on him being!..all jmo, tho..

It hurts me to think about what this precious, little girl's last moments were here on this earth while in the clutches, and at the mercy of this monster.. The monsters that we all imagine, and fear, as little children, are under our beds, in our closets, etc.. IMO, none can even begin to compare to the real life monster this little, innocent child was forced to face, be at the mercy of, and in the end be shown no mercy whatsoever in this monster taking her young, innocent life from her..and taking her from the lives of all the many who love her, and those who now will never have the chance to come to know, and love her in this life..:(

He is every bit a true monster!

I don't care what mental issues this individual has. I doubt this precious little girl did, either. I doubt her parents care. I don't think that these situations should call for an individual to receive a reduced sentence, however, they often do. And IMO, that's a **** shame. The end result is the same, regardless of the mental capacity of the offender- this darling little girl won't get to excite her parents on Christmas morning as they watch her innocent excitement at opening presents, they won't watch her go on her first date, attend her first school dance, they won't experience the joy of holding her children.

The death penalty needs a fast track for individuals such as this. Even calling him a monster seems too polite. (I think of Sully and Mike- so cute.)

Sigh. RIP sweet little girl. Taken too soon, a life yet unlived. I am so very sorry.

I don't think 5 hours is that long for finding her in the dumpster.
They were likely checking places she could be alive first.
Very few people are found alive in dumpsters (though it HAS happened.)

This is very reminiscent of both Jorelys and Skyler.
I am betting on a neighbor/maintenance person. :twocents:

That was my thought due to Jorelys. It brought that back, and I know I was so horrified by that. Here it is again. UGH!

Rest In Peace Reann. It is terrible that this has happened again to another innocent child. I hope he gets the death penalty and burns in hell for this. What a nightmare this is for Reann's family and friends and just before Christmas as well they must be going through hell.

Reann and her family will be in my prayers. Thank goodness he was caught so soon and wont be able to do this again.

If he is mentally challenged he won't qualify for the death penalty.
If he doesn't understand right and wrong then we can't execute him.
I will wait for some more information on this guy, I have a feeling he might be cognitively disabled. :twocents:

It doesn't make what happened to Reann any less awful...
but killing a guy who didn't know what he was doing won't help.
If he knew what he was doing even if he IS disabled, that is different. :twocents:

After living through the horror of Somers murder, and seeing the "monster" go to prison, I've accepted that there is no justice on this earth, for what these monsters have done. My only consolation is that they are caught and hopefully cannot harm another child.. ever again. Sadly that is not always the case. His obvious mental disabilities frighten me that he may one day be free to do this again. I can't express how sad I feel over this case. The visions in my head of her last moments truly take my breath away. RIP beautiful child...

Bond set at $1 million for suspect in murder of 9-year-old Wayne County girl, Reann Murphy

http://www.newsnet5.com/news/local-...-of-9-year-old-wayne-county-girl-reann-murphy

Just curious...

So... the court date may change if prosecutors indict before December 23rd...

does that mean that prosecutors have not had time to properly indict... But that the courts want to make certain he is in jail... And that some court date is set so as to keep the process rolling?

:dunno:

I am a legal illiterate... And am just asking out of curiosity...

TIA...:seeya:
