OH OH - Shasta Himelrick, 20, pregnant, Richmond Dale, 26 Dec 2014

No, not good at all. The gas station looked okay -- well lit, etc. The area where her car was found didn't look so good to me. Was she followed from the gas station? Did someone disable her car while she was in the gas station?

And was the phone call she got about a drug connection, or just something innocent? She had family around, so I'm hoping they were keeping an eye on her WRT drug use. Let's hope the prospect of the baby was a good enuff reason for her to avoid being tempted to use, etc.

I'd like to hear something about her boyfriend -- was he a good guy, not a user and a good influence on her? And good to her? Apparently she didn't run off with him. Oh, what happened to you, little Shasta?

I don't like this...

Up until now,I have only seen it reported it was near or at the tracks. I took a couple of screenshots of the area using Google maps.

Notice where I have a red rectangle, I think that may be the intersection they are referring to rather then it being the intersection of Higby and Three Locks Roads.

Notice that same intersection using street view. That road has a slope. Could the car have been further down that road and out of sight rather then close to the bridge?

I am wondering if LE found any evidence of another vehicle being there. With the exception of a few of houses, there is really nothing out there but land. How did the person/s responsible get home? Walking doesn't seem likely, unless they live in one of those few houses.

<==== Red arrow by me

Wow, Droopy, that pic was worth 1,000 words! Thanks so much. I had google-mapped the intersection, but I had no idea the car was so close to it. Good work!

Not all families are able to afford a funeral service. This doesn't necessarily mean they didn't want one. FWIW

so very true, but she has been cremated and in Colorado now...........
IMOO most ministers will say a tiny commitment for death and not even charge.
Maybe she will not be buried at all, some people scatter the ashes.???
We may never know...............

No services...sad.

My thoughts exactly. "There will be no services."

I have never seen that statement before in an obit. I don't read many, but I have read some. I guess they will just cremate her and be done with it -- no public involvement. Maybe they will do their mourning at a later time. Yes, it is sad.

After all the waiting -- wondering who is calling when the phone or doorbell rings. LE saying they have no news. They hear her name on the local news. Wondering about he BF. Worried for the new life inside her. No reason to call her cell phone because she doesn't have it with her. What to do with her Christmas presents? Not wanting to go out to the grocery store or the hardware store or out to eat because they don't want to be stared at or to be asked questions or to hear, "I'm so sorry," one more time. And they know it's not over yet.

I agree but that's what their go fund account was supposedly for.

I have no idea how much the go fund me account received but my son's funeral cost over 10 k. Cremation services are not cheap either. I feel badly for the family that anyone is questioning their choice in this matter. We cannot know their thought process and my sympathies go out to them, particularly because it seems that Shasta's father had recently passed as well. (inheritance was mentioned).

Just my two cents

It's very complicated. You would have to be here to understand. Maybe our community could organize a memorial vigil for Shasta and her baby if the family would give their approval.

The following is my opinion only and is not meant to imply factual information.

It is possible that after leaving the gas station she got high. Symptoms of heroin overdose include disorientation and delirium. This could have led her to jump off the bridge. This is my hypothesis as her shoes were left on the bridge. Who would take the time to remove her shoes if they had thrown her or pushed her? I'm very sorry for the family, it looked like she had tried hard to overcome her addiction.

Pertinent information:
Nervous system
Coma
Delirium
Disorientation

Drowsiness
Muscle spasticity

Is it possible that she and another were getting high (both car doors open) and due to the high, she was oblivious to the dangers and cold temps and simply wanted to go for a swim? If this were the case, the other person present might panic and call someone else for a ride feeling Shasta was beyond help and fearing an arrest for their own drug use? If the "other" was also Shasta's supplier, all the more reason (in their mind) to leave the scene immediately.

For some reason, I get a feeling that SH's murder will not be solved unless LE is sitting on a smoking gun (no pun intended) or is waiting for the perps (yes, two) to trip up. The circumstances and backgrounds of the people in SH's life don't lend themselves to being a high priority for LE, IMHO.

Something lured SH out to that place given the text she received while with her grandmother, and I think it went deeper than partaking in drugs with someone at that ungodly hour. SH supposedly was clean because she was pregnant and subject to drug testing.

I believe heroin is a depressant and does not cause one to decide to go swimming in the winter cold. How about the blood found on the headrest? I agree her shoes found at/near the bridge does sound like she jumped off or went swimming (COD is drowning) or was pushed (?!) but the total circumstances are much more nefarious IMO.

LE is on it. I think they're waiting for the tox results and other forensics to be completed. One of the perps isn't going anywhere and the other is being watched.

Thanks button is not enough! I am praying that SH receives justice and the streets of Chillicothe are safer as a result.

Source for this information? A POI has not been mentioned in MSM so far as I've seen, so I'm wondering where this information is coming from. Or is this just your opinion being stated?

TIA

It was on the BSH page but was deleted. Most everyone in the area is aware of it but no it hasn't been in MSM. The boyfriend's arrest was noted in MSM but it was said to not be connected to Shasta's case and he was later released.

Thanks Tillicum, I couldn't figure out where this was coming from. Much appreciated.

Apologize if this is a repost, but I hadn't seen it posted and it gave me some insight into Shasta's personality. I think we're still waiting on tox results (hopefully they'll be back soon). I'd really like to know what LE thinks happened.

Thank you for bringing this to the thread. It is a poignant and beautiful read.

I hope LE is working this case quietly and diligently behind the scenes. The continued silence is difficult for us here, and must be unimaginable for Shasta's family and loved ones. :(

Praying that justice for Shasta and her baby will be served.

Thanks for the link, sallye -- it was comforting and good reading to see that Shasta was a positive force for those who spoke of her in the article. Sounds like she would be fun to be around. I hope her taking-no-chit attitude didn't get her in trouble. I am such a wimp, I stand in awe and am such a fan of those who stand up to folks. What a pity she didn't get to really spread her wings and bring her special joy to folks who needed and would have appreciated her gifts.
