Then, there's this one that I wonder if it was him. Did he own a blue van?

States he had "a yellow license plate"...only one I would know of would be a "party plate" for a DUI. Any other Ohians here know about a "yellow plate"?

Ohio used to have a plate that was yellow on the bottom and faded to white at the top. That plate would be about 20 years old now though.

Was there any discussion here regarding his prior conviction and a motorcycle coming along then? There was a motorcycle this time, too, which struck me strange if nothing else. Must be a lot of motorcycles around those roads. I wish I could keep up with all the great sleuthing going on here and the wonderful help from the locals who know the area.

Suspect in disappearance of Sierah Joughin previously convicted in 1990 kidnapping case

According to court documents, the woman, who was 26-years-old at the time, was riding her bike on a rural country road near Whitehouse when she told police Worley slammed into her with his truck.

She said he handcuffed her to the truck and assaulted her with a screw driver.

A motorcyclist passed by during the commotion and the woman managed to get away.

There was a high profile case back in the 70's in Toledo - a legal assistant went missing in broad daylight. I believe she was young & college aged, and attractive. Does anyone remember this? I think it was featured on one of those true crime shows a few years ago. Will try to come up with a link & more info.

I have a couple of things to say:

#1--- jashrema--- I know you NEVER wanted to have any reason or calling to help the missing or murdered. But, I love the fire this has lit in you! I think you will be a valuable resource for many years to come! Welcome to the sleuth club. I am sorry you had to come under such devastating circumstances.

#2--- ooooowweeeeee!!!!!! Websleuthers are smart!!!! I swear, when there is good, smart, logical sleuthing happening, I smile while I read the posts. Y'all are doing great. Carry on!!!

mpnola.......I hear ya! I can feel the energy in here through my screen! Way to go everyone!

I think it was only a "fade" though...I don't think you would consider it yellow IMO...but it was a witness account so maybe it was a dirty plate!

Wasn't his trucking business moving mobile/modular homes or something? If so, I think they usually work relatively close as it is so expensive to move them, nothing like a long haul trucker that may hit several states over a couple of days. Like $2-5,000 moving them less than 100mi and up to $15,000 if moving them over 100mi. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong and his trucking was differently geared, my kids were up really early this morning and I could absolutely be remembering incorrectly.

There used to be a Manufactured home dealer right on the corner of Airport Hwy and County Road 12. They were a really big dealership, it's possible he was contracted to them. They moved about 5 or so years ago, and now, no longer in business.

Ohio still has party plates. IIRC, they are yellow with red lettering.

It occurred to me while reading so many comments from locals, how tight-knit and familiar folks are with one another in communities like this - and how something seems to be missing. I know it to be true from the 12 years I lived in farm country. Even if everyone doesn't really know everyone else, folks pretty much do know who owns that property down that lane way, how long it's been in the family, etc. It's just the way it is in communities like this. JDW's property is no different. It seems to have been in the family for quite some time, and yet, so FEW people coming forward to say they knew anything about this guy (or his family). Obviously he kept to himself much of the time and that would explain that but it does seem rather odd that he could live there among the locals for so long and no one really knows anything about him - other than he gave a creepy vibe and was someone to be avoided.

Just another random thought.

Could it be out of fear that people don't want to talk about him much?

I haven't read through the whole thread but For those of you trying to find out if JW was out on bond in 2000, I noticed that a municipal court record was posted. You need to find the Common Pleas Court record through the appropriate county's Common Pleas Court Clerk of Courts office. That is where felonies are bound over from the Municipal Courts where, in this 2000 court case, he waived preliminary hearing. If he waived, he would have been bound over and bond could have been modified by the CP Court and he could have bonded out from there. I just tried that clerk of courts and it wouldn't load for me.

"In lieu of flowers, Ms. Joughin’s family requests contributions to the Sierah Joughin Memorial Scholarship Fund, managed by the Toledo Community Foundation. The annual scholarship will be awarded to Evergreen High School students.

The amount of the scholarship and the number of recipients will depend on community response, foundation president Keith Burwell said.

Local residents have rallied to raise funds for the Joughin family in the past few days. A T-shirt sale established by family friend Terra Riegsecker has received more than 500 orders, with plans to raise $5,000. A silent auction at Lyons Chicken BBQ is also planned for this weekend.

“Everybody knows everybody,” she said. “So we’re doing everything we can just to help them out and get them through this.”

Alpha Kappa Psi, the business fraternity at University of Toledo of which Ms. Joughin was a member, will hold a candlelight vigil this Saturday at the UT Flatlands.

Visitation is set for 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Walker Funeral Home. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Christ the Word Church, 3100 Murd Road in Sylvania."
