Wow. I'm only on page 7 but there are SO many excuses. And fairly well thought out. Granted, he had a couple years sitting in jail to think about ways to cover his butt and make excuses for every aspect of the event... but just... wow.

I found that odd as well . I can not understand how a pair of plastic handcuffs weighed to much for a rear view mirror.

According to JDW, only the key was plastic and he had lost the key....

Good morning everyone !
Just finished forcing my way through his pity me letter.
One thing that really caught my eye was the statement he made "I TOOK THE BIKE TO THE BACK OF THR TRAILER AND PUT THE KICKSTAND UP."
Same thing with CEs bike

I found that odd as well . I can not understand how a pair of plastic handcuffs weighed to much for a rear view mirror.

He's quite the storyteller, eh?
"He gave me a pop when I finished and I told him 'paid in full'"
What a guy! Would a guy that mows a lawn for a pop abduct someone on purpose! NO! He's a giver!

Man, he laid it on THICK. And he's got some nerve.

Who the heck writes a letter like this, chock full of BS, CLEARLY full of BS, and starts it off with a box that says "If I tell you a lie, and you catch me in it. From there on after you will always question what I tell you."

He's got this pair of cheap handcuffs, that he always has in all of his cars, these cheap handcuffs that are too heavy to be supported by the stem of a trucks rearview window, so they are hanging on his turn signal switch.
But he had totally forgotten they were in the car.

Weirdly, I find myself always questioning what he tells us.

If he was really selling that much pot at that time..he wouldn't have needed his crappy lawn service. He'd be living like a king...100-200 POUNDS a WEEK? Liar.

Checking in from NW Ohio here too. Live in Hancock County but do a lot of work for Lucas, Henry, and Fulton county for my job.

Huge thanks to NotNice and Whimdriven for their hard sleuthing work!

I'm curious about reading these documents. I just finalized a divorce with a narcissist. I had no idea what I was dealing with for years because he was gifted in manipulation and playing the victim. It is so infuriating and frustrating to deal with or even read about these people. They really do believe the BS they spew and have a total inability to see beyond themselves.

And how much you paid for it and where you bought it 5 years after.

Man oh man I remeber Marko's , I went there a lot in the late 80s and up until they abruptly closed one day proclaiming bankruptcy, I dont ever recall seeing handcuffs for sale there ! It was an electronics store

That's exactly what I was thinking and he mentions he admitted to selling harder drugs and his mother knew about it. My question is, if he admitted, of his own free will, to such a "business venture" as he terms it, why wouldn't an investigation about that been initiated? Or does something like that not get investigated since he admitted it himself?

Maybe they didn't care because he was already incarcerated. It should have been an issue in 2000 though imo. Maybe that is how they busted him in 2000. I'm curious to see that case.

Notice every job loss is "not his fault", and he is unable to get another good paying job? He NEVERshould have been walking the streets. Also anyone who starts throwing bible versus and hiding behind Jesus and God screams smoke screen to me. Jailhouse religion. And he saved three lives, even with great risk to himself? Narcisstic. The scary thing is, I grew up close to Toledo Clinic, I don't recall the flooding like that, and I don't recall a "ditch". I know all of west Toledo floods but no more that door high. I think he is a story teller who believes if he repeats it enough everyone will believe it.

Moan was my dad's attorney, he wasn't cheap. I highly doubt he promised shock probation. He probably said it could range from to xx years. I have so many more questions after this. Hopefully the 2000 case can shed some light.

Re-reading portions of his letter, he blames RG for everything, for the accident, for his incarceration, for the financial struggles he is now having. I am in no way saying he has been dormant all these years. I don't believe that for a minute. But SJ's abduction and murder seem to me almost like trying to take revenge on RG in a way....he is full of hatred for RG because of what she did to him, how she messed up his life with her lies. And that hatred has been festering for 26 years. Just a theory about how his mind works.

I'm sure they knew he was lying. Based on a quick Google search, in 1990, a pound of marijuana sold for around $500. So he would be claiming to make $50-100,000 a week. I'm sure it wasn't hard to see that he was was full of it.

Ugh. I read half last night, the other part this morning (with some crazy dreams in between).

A few thoughts. Very obvious personality disorder with paranoia and narcissistic tendencies, and that's being nice.

Those handcuffs. He claims they were the toy kind, specifically mentioning the release lever on the side. My boys have a pair of these. I could break them with 1 hand. They would absolutely not weigh down a rear view mirror (even my own, which broke off and is now barely hanging on with some glue). And I have to believe our first victim would have realized this if they were on her. Sometimes my boys put them on me (while I'm deep in WS reading) and I don't even notice theyre there.) That being said--were they collected as evidence? Is there any proof they were the toy kind?

Another though. That last big paragraph. Oh my.
"Nothing has turned out the way it was supposed to!"
"These are very important years of my life...for building my life and my future!"
I read this part with my heart breaking for Sierra--he was right here. Nothing worked out the way it was supposed to. These were important years for her--for building her life and her future. And with one quick impulse, JDW stole that from her, from josh, from her family.

Finally. I honestly can't tell if he believes himself to some extent. I know several people with personality disorders, specifically with narcissism and paranoia, and they truly believe their clearly fabricated stories. Or at least they are in such denial that they're just not capable of self awareness/self reflection/remorse. Because no matter the situation, from their perspective--they've been wronged. The brain is an amazing thing. Capable of more than we currently understand.

Finally, I don't know that this will help anyone trying to make sense of this. But there is some incredible peer reviewed research by Kent Kiehl (someone actually cited an article early on in these threads) on psychopathy/antisocial PD/ and serial killers that seems to indicate a brain abnormality is at least partially responsible--specifically in the paralimbic system--which influences behavior, impulse, emotions, and a whole host of higher-level functions. Anyone with access to a scholarly database can easily find these--but he's well known for his work in the area, so you can find lots of easily readable and easily accessible media interviews/articles with the researcher, as well. I had a graduate neuroscience course at the university of Kentucky several years ago and did my final paper on psychopathy and ASP as they relate to crime. Absolutely fascinating. Not only do these murderers not have a problem killig, some of them don't even know why an individual's death would bother anyone else. Anyway. Sorry for that rambling soapbox part. But understanding the brain's role in behaviors many consider "evil" has really, really helped me to process and deal with tragedies like this (as well as have empathy for and patience with a few people very close to me with serious Personality disorders. Understanding is the key to changing behaviors. And we are slowly, slowly getting there!!!

Makes me wonder if he kept tabs on RG all this time. I wouldn't be surprised if he intended to somehow harm her again.

Wait, what? Where did you read that?

(I feel your pain. That letter is hard to read for many reasons and I want to mock him relentlessly)

I had to step back and double-check what he Alford pled to and was incarcerated for. As far as I can tell, the assault charges were dismissed when he copped to the kidnapping charge. So all that hot air and fantasy he wrote to the judge is irrelevant to anything. It doesn't matter what the circumstances were leading up to the event, ditto the weapons used or not used - those charges/allegations were not what he was incarcerated for. So why's he bleating on? Have I missed something or is he just determined to have the judge/the world view him as he wants to be seen?

NotNice and Whimdriven, thanks so much for your sleuthing work!

I've been following the case since the start! Currently living in Columbus, OH, but originally from NW Ohio.

He also at the time was not in a relationship with anyone of the opposite sex.
Wonder if he has ever been in a relationship, with anyone of the opposite sex?

  • #73
Just finished reading his letter and WOW. He worked really hard to spin this story. "Oh yeah I kidnapped her to keep her from leaving the scene of an accident that she caused and she had no idea who I was or what I looked like." Wtf. If she was willing to leave "the accident" then nothing would have come from it! He wouldn't have lost his precious "mother's truck".

I posted in Known and Potential - page 9 of the case file has a field for a previous address - I can only pick out a 15th & Waterville. I haven't saved the timeline for quick reference and tried to find in posts.

It boiled down to he "didn't realize" he was breaking the law by "keeping her from fleeing" the scene of an accident "she caused".

The tire marks are irrelevant to me he could have hit her, moved over and then slammed on the brakes.

I really think he attacks when he is "stressed".

And plastic handcuffs weren't holding anyone, and neither were the kind with the release. I need to go back through old articles because I know I read they were on her when she escaped, he was trying to cuff her to the truck when the passer-by stopped.

Well maybe he hates women because they refuse him, or maybe he is gay. I did find that odd. Wouldn't an average person just say no when asked if they were in a relationship? Or divorced, etc

I know shemoved away, kind of makes you wonder if she had additional fears from him. I'm curious if she is brunette too. I suspect he likes brunettes.

I truly feel bad for her and her family. She has to drudge back through this awfulness, and likely relive it.

I'm sorry, I'm gad I'm not the only one who is having a hard time not being sarcastic. I'm reading it thinking, BS, BS, BS, excuse, LOL, BS. yeah ok, wow, this guy, blame this, blame that, BS, oh darn what a guy, LOL yeah ok, BS, BS, POOR ME.

ONE MORE ACCIDENT = THE APOCALYPSE

Sorry guv'nor, I didn't know I wasn't breaking the law. Sick con man

I suspect that was the language of whoever wrote the report, and not what he said.

Very well could be. I'd love to see another report to compare it to. I like how he stated he'd "hang" someone with a psi report like that....then spins his was wrong. There are so many flags. I do think Stress Kills, and 1985, and the cuffs hanging on the rearview mirror as an ornament of every vehicle Ive ever owned is important. He is so detailed including I sold my previous car when my mother bought the truck....

I absolutely get chills.
