3/16 update: Judge announced there will be no session Monday (3/19) or Thursday (3/22). State should wrap its case Wednesday (3/21) and defense will begin on Friday (3/23) and continue thru the following week of 3/26. Expects jury to begin deliberating the following Monday (4/2).
3/19/18 Update: It's a strong possibility that a verdict may finally be reached next week (3/19-3/23) in the case, The People vs. James Worley. That is because the case is moving along much quicker then originally planned. In fact, it's been moving along so fast that the judge asked jurors to not report on Monday (3/19). The state only has a handful of witnesses left to call and is expected to only need Tuesday and Wednesday to finish presenting their case. Once they are
finished, it'll be the defense's turn to take over. The state started with nearly four dozen witnesses. Friday (3/23) will be the defense's turn to take over. They have a short list of witnesses to call. It's also a possibility that James Worley could take the stand in his own defense. The Honorable Robinson told the jury to expect to begin deliberating next Monday (3/26). It is now a possibility that within one week, there will finally be a conclusion to this case that has been in the works for nearly two year. On the topic of voir dire, court documents show that the jury more then likely will be sequestered in a hotel during deliberation.
I, too, don't think they will be sequestered for long.... Probably not even over night!
