OH - Spencer and Monique Tepe found shot to death at home 2 children unharmed, Columbus, 30 December 2025

For anyone interested, there are two frames of the front door WITH a ring camera doorbell. I don’t believe it was mentioned in any previous reports, but now we have visual confirmation there is.

Columbus Police scanner audio shared by Broadcastify indicates that the 911 caller believed they heard one of the children yelling before calling again to report the body in the house.

Police records indicate that authorities were initially contacted at 9:03 a.m. and that an officer responded to the home at 9:22 a.m. but received no answer and left, WSYX reported.

Co-workers drove by the home to check on Spencer Tepe but did not receive an answer. A friend called police at 9:57 a.m., reporting that they heard children crying inside and nobody was answering the door, according to WSYX.

A third 911 call was placed after the same friend reported that they could see Spencer Tepe's body inside the home and that he appeared dead, according to WSYX.

If Dr. Valrose called 911 at 9:03, then Co-workers drove to the home to check on Spencer before the friend called twice - first at 9:57 to report children crying and then again to report seeing the body through a window then Dr. Valrose and/or the co-workers were already on their way to Columbus when they made the call or they were driving impossibly fast. The 911 audio recording from the news report is definitely Dr. Valrose but it’s impossible to listen to the Broadcastify audio without a paid subscription to hear if he is the same friend making both of the second calls. Someone would have to have known and been comfortable enough to approach the house and look in the basement window without waiting for law enforcement to check first.
There are multiple Dr.s in Athens who commute from Columbus but most are affiliated with hospitals here and in Columbus. It takes an hour to get from Athens to Children’s Hospital driving very fast and would take over an hour to get further north to that area. I used to live near there before moving south.

Also this -
A friend later gained entry to the home and found Spencer's body. Police said both Spencer and Monique had been shot.

So the friend got in then called? Same person?

Are those cameras on the next door neighbors garage or just lights, nothing visible on the Tepe's.
It looks like adjustable spot lights on the neighbour's garage to me. And it looks like 3x recessed down lights on the Tepe's garage.

Edit - maybe they are cameras? Looking closer, each of the four garages on that side appear to have 3x recessed down lights. They're just difficult to spot on the two white garages because of low contrast.

Building across the street has a camera pointed towards the alley, hope LE got thier footage if it's working.

Maybe the friend said that to get the police to come back? Is it possible the friend didn't see him at all, but knew if the kids were crying and nobody was answering the door that something bad had happened.
I would lie to get LE help. IMO

Could be camera spotlights on the neighbor's garage, hard to tell.

This looks similar to what you see on the homes on the other side of the alley.

Sincere condolences to their family and friends.

I hope the person guilty for this is caught very soon. Even if this is a personal "grudge," they could be capable of harming others who start to suspect them, etc.

Another could be a random person who took offence thinking either of the couple looked at them "the wrong way"

Or road rage that escalated into them being followed home.
Do they park their cars on the street in front or is that a garage in back?
Edit, yes garage in back.

Not sure where they park, but yes. Each of those homes has its own garage in back, off the alley.

So I’m going to jump on here. Have many of you listened to the 911 call from Dr Valrose? So many things threw me off in such a short statement:

"I'm on vacation, but this individual, Spencer, works with me, and he did not show up to work this morning. And we cannot get a hold of him or his family," Valrose told dispatchers, according to audio of a 911 call reviewed by ABC News. "He's been reliable, and we cannot get in touch with him, his wife, his family, anybody that lives in that house."

1) Why are you automatically alibiing yourself from the situation “I’m on vacation” (which I’m sure can be verified, still odd)

2) Although he corrects himself and says “Spencer” his initial instinct was to refer to him as an “individual” - which we know many murderers subconsciously do to remove the connection to the victim. This was someone who for all we know were very good friends / colleagues. Again, odd.

3) Although not related to the Dr, why did he say “we cannot get in touch with…anybody that lives in that house” - was this just an exaggeration of phrasing for urgency, or did they have guests / family staying there?

4) Lastly, some of us have listened to more 911 calls in our lives more than we care to admit, and I’d like to think I have a pretty good finger on when someone sounds genuinely *concerned* vs *appearing concerned* and something about his tone, his cadence, and his breathiness is sending up flags for me. Listen and let me know what you think. Obviously, I hope I’m wrong though…

IMO he just doesn't sound like a people person. Or used to talking to LE.

Absolutely could be. Again, I’d LIKE to just think I’m reading too much into a concerned friend / colleague…

Interesting points. Do we know how long Spencer had worked there? I can’t listen, are 911 calls ever released in OH?

It's not an alibi, if he's away on vacation - he's indicating to the 911 operator he's not local at the moment and calling from out of town. So he couldn't answer some specific questions if asked.

Maybe he's upset because he's the business owner who is away on vacation, fielding a lot of calls from the office, from people who are panicking. He doesn't know what occurred, but is likely a little fearful that something is terribly wrong.

Time will tell, but I think it's premature to be suspicious of word choices at this point, MOO.

Replying to this early post to comment that I felt such relief at reading in the linked article about responding LE bringing a therapy dog into the post-crime environment to help the two children. Law enforcement at its finest, IMO.

Strange, terrible case; seems personal. I'm very much wondering what time the couple were shot, how long their young children ended up being "alone." It seems the killer, if known to them, had to realize the victims would be discovered with the new day. Not a lot of time for a getaway.
