OMG. I took the police vid, paused it and took this screenshot that I then blew up. For a split second, twice, it seems he looks straight ahead and his face is captured by the camera. Look, can we make out a face? OMG?View attachment 635376
Probably a completely incorrect interpretation of the enlarged pic., but atm, reminded of the character with a moustache in Easy Rider, speculation, imo.

The picture is pixelated, so I am not sure what we are seeing beyond light skin. I do see what appear to be dark glasses, a nose, and possible mustache. I just grabbed several more screenshots that I will have to look at later.

If you look at the police video and pause it just as he is entering frame, then move the cursor frame by frame, very slowly, for several seconds you can see him move in slow mo, and catch him look slightly up to see ahead about 3 times. They are brief glimpses that are missed when watching the video at normal speed.

I have no doubt the police know more as they have more video, and capabilities to enhance that we don't. I imagine they don't release something too distorted as they would get too many tips. It would be nearly impossible to say much about this person in the video from the picture I captured. Maybe light skinned, but was light pointing on them making it appear that way? And if light skinned, that still doesn't necessarily mean white.
Maybe I haven’t had enough coffee yet, but to me, he looks medium skin tone, maybe Hispanic.

The boots really stood out to me more than anything. Gen Z males don't wear boots much. I would guess this guy is 40+.
i’m a ‘94 baby, and my male cohort definitely wears boots. POI could be younger though (or older).

He may be wearing a ski mask or balaclava.

Looks like a white guy with fabric/scarf covering his mouth to me. JMO

Very creepy. Looks like he’s wearing a ski mask or hockey mask. Or not. If not a mask, I see pinkish skin on the right side, so I’m thinking a Caucasian.

It has been assumed that robbery was not a motive. But who would know if PART of her jewelry was missing, or anything else unknown.
Robbers usually aren't very tidy. They do not close the cabinets, fold the clothes back and put things in their designated places. They are in hurry and leave mess behind. If everything was neat, closed, folded and tidy, the chances any robbers went through the house are tiny.

Yeah, I think I see a ski mask as well. I don't see facial hair like others do. But very hard to tell. If it is a ski mask, increases the odds this was premediated.

Brother-in-law speaks again.
I agree with BIL that it looks like someone walking home from a bar.

So, that's what he could be (I think so) or it's someone LOOKING like he's walking home from the bar.

I wonder if LE had video of the guy entering the victims' backyard?

Looks like Brother-in-law and Sister are caring for the children, according to that article. I wonder what other family home the police are guarding.

1/5/26

Spencer Tepe and his wife, Monique Tepe, died from an apparent homicide by gunshot wounds, a spokesman for the Franklin County Coroner's Office told NBC Chicago on Monday. However, a final determination hasn't been made, as the coroner's report, along with autopsy and toxicology reports, haven't been completed.

The couple was found shot to death in the Columbus, Ohio, home where they were married and raised their 1- and 4-year-old children. Last Tuesday, police were called to conduct a welfare check after Spencer's co-worker said he failed to show up for work.

Officers entered the home and found both individuals deceased. Three spent 9-millimeter casings were discovered at the scene, the police report stated. The couple's two children were unharmed, and police said there were no signs of forced entry

IMO, that video is only a little help. If they go back to the site and stand someone in, they can get a relative height and from there based on body size, they can get weight. It also based on his gait, looks like it is not an African-American.. but a Caucasian or Hispanic. Also, maybe someone saw this person the way they are dressed.

I HOPE there is more video and better.

Sometimes the police do not release the best video, so that people can check their cameras for this guy but this guy will think they don't have my face very clear so I'm off the hook.

I am going to try to see if I can locate exactly where that video might have been taken for a proximity to the Tepe's house

The house on the corner of the alley has 2 cameras on the garage in the back alley. If the murderer came down the alley from the north and entered from the back alley, he would probably still be seen on one of those cameras because the angle looks like it looks back further a little past than the Tepe's garage.
I live in another city with alleys (Chicago), and I have a motion-activated camera on my garage facing the alley. Just a few notes from my experiences with this set-up, may or may not be relevant here but sharing some factors:

- If any of those cameras are motion sensing, there's no guarantee they all caught something or recorded long enough to make it helpful. I've been surprised at things my motion camera misses- for example, times I know I took garbage out and nothing was picked up. Hopefully their alley has more hard-wired, continuously recording cameras that caught usable footage.

-Also worth noting- there's a chance not all cameras pictured are operational. Sometimes, new owners choose not to pay for the service needed to use them or sometimes people even put them up as decoys. I know my own building's alley camera is operational less than 80% of the time because our condo point person doesn't stay on top of changing the batteries.

- In my alley way, I'm also always very surprised at how many people are out there at all hours. My alley backs up to an apartment complex, and people use the alley entrance/exit door as their primary route. People use it as a walking route. There are endless cars, garbage trucks, scrap collectors driving through. If the alleys are used in a similar way in Columbus, I wonder if they do have other footage or indication about why this particular person is a POI- or, are they used sparsely enough that someone's mere presence is suspicious at that hour?

- My alley gets a ton of ice and snow build up as well. I'm scrolling through my camera's videos to look at how people walk, and wonder how everyone would be critiquing their footwear and stride if the videos were ever pulled for something suspicious. Personally, I walk like a penguin and there are some very uneven areas of where the tire tracks build up vs the ice piles. My stride looks very awkward and would be heavily scrutinized here :)

To me, it looks like right beneath the top of the hood, the dark oval shapes look like sunglasses, a nose, and then a mustache.

Probably not at all accurate, but I do see a face as well.
BBM

Or possibly deep-set eyes with the light casting a strong shadow

ETA or maybe the visor of a baseball cap?

Not often in cases the family tries to undercut LE leads. I think he should probably just let them do their job JMO
Agreed. This is not helpful speculation from family members (imo). If police are saying this is POI, then this person is a POI.

Totally agree. I was burglarized years back, and even I needed time to figure out all that was taken. I know that family would not have known all my jewelry, or if I had stashed cash somewhere. It could have been a targeted burglary. The perp doesn't live far (can walk) and has thought about this a while. Go in with gun, wake homeowners and have them give the cash, jewelry, and medicine cabinet narcotics under threat of the gun. IDK?
Agree with you that only the homeowners would have a strong inventory of what is missing. I think it isn’t the absence of items, but rather the presence of others. Just an example as nothing of the sort has been reported but if there’s a purse and wallet with cash, wedding ring, watch, necklace, etc. all sitting in plain sight, those are all tiny but valuable items that anyone could stuff in their pockets in no time.

Shades of another high-profile case here where the father of one of the victims apparently thought LE and prosecutors didn't know how to do their jobs and should take direction from him.
