Good news. I found a picture of Pippi. It's not the best. I am trying to figure out how to get a photo online.

I sheepishly report that I keep thinking of "Mary Margaret Gallagher" aka: the Superstar!
One of my favorite characters!
Since you mention it, in case Buck is in fact of Irish ethnicity, have been keeping an eye out for pics from Catholic schools.imo.

If you have an Android, Google PlayStore has a free photo scan app. Not sure what iPhone has. Or you can take a picture of a photograph with a smartphone's camera. If this is what you are asking. It is easy to take or scan pictures from a phone and upload directly from it. I use my phone for most FB and on line boards like this one

Sullivan, Supinger, McCormick, Brandimore? These are a few that popped up when I searched for Marys in Troy, OH. I know that its extremely unlikely she would be any of those, but the search for Denton was too broad

You can upload it to Imgur really easily and then put the Imgur link here.

And you can always go to your community public library for assistance. All the ones in our area offer internet access and also guest privileges if you don't have a card. Some universities/colleges do also. Library personell have to be tech savvy these days!

Not sure if y'all just pulled Cucullen out of a hat, but it would make sense in the context given. It's Irish and prone to mispronunciation. CuChulainn is a well-known Irish folk hero. To someone who knows their Irish lit, this would indeed be considered a strong, proud name to have.

On the negative side, when it was brought up the other day I did try searching for old murder cases making reference to that surname with no luck. Also, it's not a super common Irish name.

No, drove past a small business with that name. I think it was a tire and tuneup shop. South Boston or Southie. I'm not quite sure exactly where I was at the time. I remember reading some of the Cuchulainn stories when I was in college.

Hi all! This is my first post and I just registered because I'm excited about this new lead for Buckskin Girl. It really would be amazing if she had her name back again. :)

Hi All,

I am really excited to hear about this possible new lead. I am Irish, and living in Ireland..so if any of you need help with surnames or Irish stuff, just give me a shout.

There a TON of Irish surnames that would be pronounced differently over here, compared to the States. Is that what the lady meant Porvn? When she said that Pippi's surname had the wrong pronunciation. Or did the lady mean that it was pronounced differently in different parts of the US? For example, here are three surnames that I can think off the top of my head, that are pronounced differently in Ireland and the States:

Kinsella (In the US I think that people pronounce it as kin-sell-a with the stress on the sell part, whereas in Ireland we stress the Kin part of the surname)
Cahill (In the US I think people say Kay-hill, whereas in Ireland it's pronounced as Ca as in Cat and hill, and sometimes just Caaal)
Mahoney (In Ireland it's pronounced as Maa-hunnie, the stress is on the Maa part, as in mat)

Some other surnames that might have different pronounciations:

Keohane (Kyo-haan.Kyo-hin in Ireland but I assume a lot of people abroad would say it differently)
Callaghan, (Calla-haan)
Coughran, (🤬🤬🤬🤬-ran)
McGrath (The TH isn't pronounced in some parts of Ireland)
McKeown
O'Donoghue (possibly?)
Hehir
Lysaght

Just thought I would pop in with my two cents.

That's true, the surname Cullen and Coogan, and other similar sounding surnames would be more popular.

I was thinking too like you, if the quote was right, a strong Irish name may mean a surname related to a national heroine/hero, folklore, politician ...
I have to double look at these names before pronouncing them -
McGuigan
OCallaghan
Buchanan
MacMahon
Branagh
McDonagh
Ceannt
Humphrys

Porvn, just a thought, have you looked through the list of rule-outs on NAMUS just to make sure that Pippi's name is not on there?
Just to cover all angles.
