My confusion Ronso -

I did not know Sarah had said she saw them "after" school. I thought she had said she had only seen them that day. Leaving me to believe that she had seen her Mother "before" school. I know it was reported that she had said she did not see Stephanie that day.

So confusing.....

And you are welcome, I wish we would of met under better circumstances!
You must be very proud of your community, and rightly so.
So is the rest of the Nation I have a feeling!

I finally understood that the sheriff had been choosing his words very carefully to avoid exposing so much of what he knew.

His words were chosen to lead people to think one thing when he fully knew the opposite. He was careful with the victim families, good at getting help from the community, and all the while not saying horrible hurtful and shocking things he knew.

An all around good guy in a very bad situation.

Did Sarah & Kody go to the same school? Ride the same bus?

My though is that Tina was home during the day and was the first, being killed and hidden. Then Stephanie came over to go apt hunting, while MH was still dealing with Tina. She was then was killed and hidden.

Then maybe the kids returned from school and MH was hiding in Sarah's room. He subdued Sarah, leaving her bound and gagged in her room, and then went after Kody.

As of yet, we do not know cause of death, so it is possible that he killed them by asphixiating them and that the blood came later, when he was trying to prepare them to transport to the tree.

Maybe that is how they 1 ~ realized that they would likely only find Sarah at MH home, due to lack of blood evidence of Sarah's, and 2 ~ later on, after deeper analysis of the blood evidence and finding that the blood was left post mortem, realized that there was little hope that Tina, Kody & Stephanie would be found alive.

The leaves hanging inside his home in bags from the ceiling near the walls is just really strange. I think this guy thought he was becoming a squirrell!

No kidding, grayjay!

Sheriff Barber could not of been in a more difficult spot, and he handled it extremely well.
A VERY nice man. And such a respectful way of bringing the deceased back, with the hearses.
I certainly do commend him. He did an amazing job through the whole ordeal.
He was showing a glum demeanor at his Wed. PC. I knew something was wrong, and he was just trying to handle it the best he could.

MOST especially when he seemed to be rushed to a PC, possibly because NBC4 had already broken the news online! They should have had the respect to let the Sheriff speak out first.
The news was viral before, Sheriff Barber could even make his statement.
I thought that was a pitiful spot to have put him in.

I think they knew Sarah was in the house because of a witness they are keeping this witness hushed in the press.

The man had bags of leaves hung from the inside ceiling in his house! Clearly a profound fetish with nature/trees. I'm wondering if on one of his outings in the woods, he saw that hollow out tree and put the bodies in Bags (leaves) and returned them to the dead tree, because in his mind maybe that was going to heal the tree, vindication for that tree (if he is looking at trees as human with feelings)

Why would you have leaves in a bag suspended from the ceiling? It has to be a fetish!

Would you please direct me to the news of the leaves hanging from the ceiling? Im trying to follow this thread from work and missed that. That is beyond creepy!

Mmmkay...I think maybe the leaves were merely free insulation and had no nefarious design. A survival thing.

Those old pier-and-beam homes can be very drafty. I have lived in several... in one I remember I could feel wind blowing in through the kitchen drawers. Now thats what I call a drafty house.

Just a thought.

Java- it was stated in one of the pressers that the first time SM saw MH was in the house the day of the attack WITH her mom and brother IIRC.

I suppose I can agree with him getting TH, SM, and KM first, then SS showing up later.

Yes, both kids attended EKMS. They would've arrived home at the same time.

And such a respectful way of bringing the deceased back, with the hearses.

My husband is a nurse here in Knox County and he said this is how we transport all who are deceased (unless it would be a car accident and they are transported to a hospital via ambulance).

There is really no telling with psychopaths, Dahmer said he did what he did because he wanted to keep his victims close to him! He loved them and he wanted them to be a part of him.
Go figure!
All of them have different reasoning. MH had something going on with trees & leaves?

They have VERY twisted minds. Most of the time making no sense whatsoever to the normal person.

From an earlier post Pg. 10 - #242
She (MH’s Mother) said that her son told her that he was "relieved" when authorities raided his home because "Sarah would be able to go home."
--------
Damher said he was “relieved” too. When he was caught and someone would finally stop him. He could not stop himself.
----------
This is typical of psychopaths.

I had to leave here last night, it was to horrifying for me to stay. These poor people. I couldn't sleep.

Then I remembered the Dennis Rader case, BTK, and how he subdued the Otero family. The father Joseph Otero, 38yo was physically fit and was a excellent boxer. Mrs Otero had extensive training in Judo as well as the children. This monster separated this family into different rooms. He brought cord and hoods, tape and wire cutters into the house. LE said this case was brilliantly planned and orchestrated crime which required surveillance, perfect timing, and the ability to subdue a group of people who were normally more than capable to defending themselves.

I think this is what happen in this case.

Ronso say’s:
My husband is a nurse here in Knox County and he said this is how we transport all who are deceased (unless it would be a car accident and they are transported to a hospital via ambulance). (speaking of the white hearses)
---------
Well all cities and towns could take this as an example!
Unfortunately where I am, we have the cold hard coroners trucks.
Hats off to your town Ronso, it was very touchingly respectful.

Maybe MH felt safe in trees.

  • #276
Or maybe being up in a tree made him feel powerful, omnipotent- literally above everyone else.

I do tend to agree, however strange and bizarre it sounds, with what someone had posted either here or FB as to the reasoning behind the bags of leaves, the hollow tree, etc. I think he kept having the power cut off because he couldn't pay the bills and being very knowledgable in nature & squirrels, etc, he thought the bags of leaves would make good insulation, much as squirrels and other wildlife do. After he killed Tina, Kody & Stephanie, he chose to hid their bodies in a hollowed out tree that he previously had discovered, while camping in the woods, just as squirrels hide their nuts for the winter, because he thought that they would likely never be discovered and he had developed somewhat of a "think like a squirrel" mentality and where do squirrels hide things? In trees.

I would not be surprised to hear that these are not his first victims nor would I be surprised to hear that he has some mental health issues.

All of this is MOO.

I agree hollye. Insulation. Mental issues aside..

I think the most insightful window into this man's mind will be coming from his recent ex-the one who he choked and she was afraid to go through with the charges because she feared him.Early on, there were comments from neighbors with kids the same age as MH's girlfriend's son who said their kids slept over there and he was "normal" popping popcorn and jumping on the trampoline with the boys.Neighbors also said he used to go for long walks in the woods alone and one of the last sightings of him before this all broke was MH walking down some wooded trail alone wearing his backpack.Anybody else remember all this??

This guy musta thought he was a squirrel. He liked leaves. He liked trees. He ate squirrels. He worked in trees. He hung out in trees.
He stored these people in a tree.

thank goodness Sarah was saved!

Or a droid or a troll. He planned this ahead - there's no way he just stumbled onto that tree while hanging out with 3 bodies!!
