You are all in our prayers. so many of us understand.

The media quickly forgot Eve Carson, a lovely young girl, Senior Class President of UNiversity of North Carolina..taken from her home by three thugs, taken to ATMsto get money, shot literally in the street while she begged them to pray with her. There was no coverage of the trial, no marches, no comments from politicans. Her family grieved and disappeared.

There are no murals, she is not considered an "icon." I guess her death wasn't a media cash cow.

JG, to me just sounded like she was in shock, and probably trying not to say anything that would hurt her family more than they are hurting. I didn't see anything offensive or sinister in her words or demeanour. Maybe her family -have- experienced some racism. I don't think she was making excuses by saying so. Just answering the question as best she could. Just my perceptions.

I haven't been following this case, not even on here. But I have caught bits and pieces on the news. There seems to be a call to charge this as a hate crime. Prosecutors seem reluctant to do so, because it is minors and minors who commit crimes cannot face the death penalty.

IMO even though they won't face the death penalty, I believe they should charge it as a hate crime. Likely it won't make a difference in any penalties. But it could and should press the point that racism is not one sided. That racism can committed by/felt by any race. And that if you commit a race crime against any race, it doesn't matter what race you are, it is still a hate crime. IMO it should be equally applied.

And sorry - as someone who lives on welfare (albeit not in the US) -- we can't get loans. We have a hard time finding and being approved for rentals...try renting anything, a TV, a washer, a car .. on welfare. Not easy, or not happening. I probably get more than somebody cooking fries in McDonald's but I also have far fewer opportunities. Life is way more limited. Oh yeah, and then there's the whole disability thing..

I am sure there are people who squeeze welfare for all they can and do so undeservedly, everywhere welfare exists. But if you're delving into an anti-welfare rant, please remember that there's posters here who don't live on it by choice and really do their best to get by responsibly, so blanket statement get a bit much sometimes, you know?

BBM .. you know, that is unfair. My sister went on welfare when she had twins and the father of her kids hit the jerkometer and didn't know how to stop, and she had to end the relationship. She actually did manage to get a mortgage at the time (amazingly), but that was 20 years ago so times have sure changed. It's tough living on a tight income, I can't imagine how tough it is when you have kids to care for. There is a lot of prejudice aimed at so called 'single mums', I know of plenty of people that aren't on welfare who fit the stereotype much better than people I've known on a government subsidy.

As some people here know, I spent some years living in the US. At a party one night I overheard a young stud trying to talk a pretty thing into some hanky panky. She wasn’t buying it, and one of her many giddy excuses was that she could get pregnant. The response was ‘that’s okay baby, you’d get more money each month’ or something to that effect. I still remember it years later.

I'm quite sure that is the kind of attitude that momrids6 was talking about in her comment.
And she was spot-on with the rest of the post .. this is about parental responsibility, and conscious parenting. Teaching your kids to be productive citizens. Bored was a banned word in our household .. if you said you were bored, you were given something constructive to do.


Everything that is good about the US allowed Chris to go to college there, play baseball there, make good friends there, fall in love there.

Everything that is bad about the US allowed him to be senselessly shot to death there by 3 bored minors while he was jogging on a summer afternoon.

Thank you to the good people who did all they could to help Chris, and made sure that he wasn’t alone in his final moments.

My brain works in such a way that I want to see facts and statistics, but certain statistics are, I guess, too inflammatory to acknowledge. So the problem cannot be effectively broken down and dealt with. Oh, sorry. I thought they shot the dog. That's even worse then shooting the poor animal.

I haven't read about a dog but they are suspected of killing a Mule. If they did then they must have broken the shotgun down after and hid it in the trunk.

Chief Ford told news.com.au that at some point after lunchtime, on Camelback Road in Duncan, a mule in the yard of a property was killed with several rounds fired from a shotgun.

He could not confirm if it was linked to Mr Lane's shooting. But, 4km up the road, a few minutes away by car, Mr Lane was preparing to go out for a jog.

Trident, this is what I was talking about yesterday, it's crazy huh? Look at LK's whole statigram. All of these thugs are in those pictures. It's their group. Read the comments that coincide with those pictures. Look at all the likes and hashtags. Look at all the people that left comments and likes. They leave a lot to be desired.

And whomever is the parents of those little boys should be charged with abuse and/or negligence for crying out loud.
