GUILTY OK - Christopher Lane, 22, Australian, slain in thrill killing, Duncan, 16 Aug 2013

Every action has a reaction. Zimmermann's support probably was a reaction to the media doctoring the 9-11 tape, pixilating the injury pictures, using a child's photo instead of a current one. Differences of opinion on the Stand Your Ground law...and a discussion of Profiling without factoring the crime stats in that community might be a factor. The fact that TM's Mother, pre-trial was public speaking and raising money...might have caused others to have donated to GZ to ensure a fair representation for him at trial.

As for slandering the "victim"...the Mother in the Stroller Killing is being slandered as we speak...even though the accomplice pretty much ratted out the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 shooter.

The TM case provided a vehicle for many grievances to be aired...in specials on TV...on the floor of Congress, from the President. But the death of Eve Carson, the Channon case, just are a blip, a nod, a story relegated quickly to page three. Their parents are not sought out for interviews. Eve's sweater that she wore as they shot her, pleading, in the street, was never considered for a museum exhibit.

This case should be a vehicle for discussion too. Because avoiding hurt feelings is killing our kids.

I'm not sure why the Christian/Newsome case or Eve Carson case should have received national coverage for years. Because they were white victims killed by black people? Their killers were all arrested, charged, and convicted. Not every family of crime victims wants the case to become a media circus unless it will help find the victim or the killer.

And there's been plenty of cases of white victims that had TV specials made, parents sought out for interviews, etc. Most laws that are named after crime victims are named after white victims.

Classrooms empty on second day
Derrick Miller
08/23/2013 8:29 AM

Snipped:
Only 53 percent of Duncan Public Schools’ 3,763 students attended class Wednesday, after administrators offered an excused absence because of an anonymous threat made toward Duncan High.
Just 230 of the high school’s 984 students — or 23 percent — were in attendance.
“Our enrollment was affected yesterday (Wednesday),” Superintendent Sherry Labyer said. “We knew it was going to be. The elementary schools were affected yesterday, but not to the degree the high school was.”
Next to the high school, the Duncan Middle School had the second largest absentee rate. Of the 743 students enrolled in the middle school, only 425 (57 percent) of students were in attendance.
Students were given permission by Duncan Public Schools to miss school Wednesday if the threat of possible violence made parents uneasy. The absences were excused and will be waived, Labyer said. All of the schools promoted closed campuses, which meant high school students couldn’t leave for lunch and elementary students couldn’t go outside for recess.

No one is going to judge your daughter because of Casey Anthony, but many will judge all black teenagers because of Chris's killers.

Why do white people fear "gangsta teens" when they are more likely to be killed by someone they know? We always hear about white people killing white people on WS, yet there's no fear of fellow white people?

Speaking for myself, I will not get on an elevator with anyone who styles himself like some Gansta Rapper, be he Black, White, or Green. Why are they projecting THAT image, one associated with hate, misogny, violence, filth? Apparently, because that it how they wish others to view them.

So I "get their message."

There are parts of town where I will not go...parts of cities I avoid when traveling. They are not defined by the race of people who live there, but every Mother knows where we DO NOT want our kids to be. These areas are defined by the crime stats...not color. Folks in these areas could all turn purple and I wouldn't go there because of the frequency of violence.

I have Black neighbors, family members. In my world, no one judges them for anything other than their own actions. Good Lord! It's skin hue, people...like eye color...not any window into anyone's mind. But I do judge people by the image they project to me, OF THEIR OWN CHOICE.

And I do avoid certain neighborhoods just as I would not knowingly step into rattlesnake nests.

We all can change these things together. But not if we cannot start by talking and acknowleding we all have more in common than that which divides us.

Wy is it bad if he identified with Trayvon? Why WOULDN'T he? Profiling and discrimination are a daily, ongoing thing for black men. No matter if they are dressed in a hoodie or a suit. They don't get cabs, they get followed in stores, they get windows rolled up and doors locked when they walk by a car. In hundreds, thousands of different ways this happens to black men everyday. But he isn't supposed to talk about it, because it might upset white people? I don't get it. From what I remember, he was asked to comment on the case, and he spoke from his heart about his experience as a man of color.

And as soon as he does? Look what happens, look at all the crap he took. The message was loud and clear. White Americans don't want to hear about the experiences of black men.

That's because white people experience the very things you are labeling "racial profiling." Everybody gets followed in stores. That's how store security works. And nobody needs to ask permission to lock their car door or roll up their window. Further, not only do they not need permission, nobody has any right to assign motivations to such mundane actions.

In contrast, JE's racist comment was classic hate speech and deserves condemnation. Feel free to argue that it's not relative or important to this case. But, goose meet gander, be ready for a loud chorus of disagreement.

I know this discussion seems important but I wonder if it would be better if this thread was broken down into its own forum... That way stuff doesn't get lost that is actually part of this crime. If there could be a thread just dedicated to opinions on racism & such, maybe even refer to this case and others if all wish for it to be, then great. Please, I mean no disrespect. It's just that now there's pages and pages of nothing but black on white and white on black and certain races being held down etc etc etc. Can we get back to the case at hand please?

3 kids made a decision to choose Chris Lane as their random victim and shot him dead.

Some of us keep wondering where these kids got their guns. I've been waiting for something to pop up on the net & just came across something.

“There is nothing more painful for me at this stage in my life,” Jesse Jackson said several years ago, “than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery—and then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved.” Jackson now says his quotation was “taken out of context.” The context, he said, is that violence is the inevitable byproduct of poor education and health care. But no amount of “context” matters when you fear that you are about to be mugged.

Source: Police Eye Gun Store Burglary as Source of Chris Lane Murder Weapon
by Tommy Christopher | 12:37 pm, Friday

Snipped:
That house on Country Club Road was also a known hangout for an armed robbery crew that was apprehended in April:
Duncan police say they have four suspects in custody in connection to last week’s string of armed robberies at three convenience stores.
Investigators say three men in their 20′s and a 17-year-old boy are behind bars tonight. Police believe they’re the ones behind the masks including the Michael Myers mask from the movie “Halloween” seen in the image stills from the robberies. They took the 17-year-old into custody Wednesday night and say he admitted he is one of the robbers.
Duncan police say they owe it all to the joint efforts of their department and tips from the public. Investigators say the young men in custody are part of a larger group known for their petty crimes. They say they’re just glad police caught them before things got worse.

Snipped:
According to a Duncan Police source working on the Chris Lane investigation, one of the guns recovered in the armed robbery arrests was from the Stigler burglary, and the suspects in that string of armed robberies were “associates” of the three suspects in the Chris Lane murder. Investigators are looking into the Stigler burglary as the possible source of the murder weapon, which has still not been recovered.

What does everyone make of the fact that they havent recovered the murder weapon? You would think that since Jones was apparantly cooperating, that he would have told police where it was. I am guessing that they didnt hide it somewhere, but instead gave it to someone, who in turn gave it to someone, etc etc.

Some pages back I posted that exact thing. Yes, Michael Jones told police they gave the gun to a brother or friend of someone in jail for an armed robbery from a few months ago. The cops questioned this person & he told cops that the boys came to him but he said he didnt want to get involved. yeah, right... I'll bet it's related to what I just posted above here...

No I don't believe that, had the races been reversed the black man never would have been able to walk out of that police station that night. IMO

http://www.tampabay.com/stand-your-ground-law/fatal-cases

Tampa Bay Times did a comprehensive review and the results will suprise you.

"One hundred thirty-three people in the state of Florida have used a 'Stand Your Ground' defense. Of these claims, 73 were considered 'justified' (55 percent), while 39 resulted in criminal convictions and 21 cases are still pending.
"Forty-four African Americans in the state of Florida have claimed a 'Stand Your Ground' defense. Of these claims, 24 were considered 'justified' (55 percent), while 11 resulted in convictions and nine cases are still pending.
"Of the 76 white people who have used the defense, 40 were considered 'justified' (less than 53 percent), while 25 were convicted and 11 cases are still pending.
"Ten Hispanics have used the defense, seven of them successfully, according to the database, which included George Zimmerman as a 'Stand Your Ground' defendant.

The incorrect inclusion of Zimmerman aside, the numbers are very interesting. One-third of all SYG defendants were black; African Americans make up less than 17 percent of Florida's population. When black defendants invoked the law, they were successful as often as whites. Discounting cases that are still pending, their success rate was 69 percent of the times SYG was invoked, compared to 65 percent overall and 62 percent for whites.

I am wondering that as well. When they were arrested they were in a church parking lot across from their next target, according to Mr. Johnson.

http://www.smh.com.au/world/chris-l...-father-who-called-police-20130822-2sdud.html

Court documents filed by police confirm that Mr Johnson called police to tell them three armed youths were in front of the home at 7.05pm, some four hours after Mr Lane was shot dead, and that officers were dispatched to the car park where they arrested the three accused.

It seems there was 4 hrs in between Chris' murder and their arrest at the parking lot at the church.
Seems weird that the gun has not been found. 22 ammo and a disassembled shotgun was found.

Thank you. It's good to read statistics instead of opinion.

Murder weapon still missing
08/22/2013 2:34 PM

Snipped:
According to the affidavit, Shoemake said he Jones wasn’t going to talk, he would take him back to the cell. Jones said he couldn’t tell the detective who shot Lane because if he did, “he would get killed.”
As Jones was being escorted back to his cell, Shoemake talked to him and said they needed to find the gun so a child wouldn’t find it and get hurt. Jones told him that the gun had been given to someone else.
“Someone that had two brothers inside the jail,” Jones said, according to the affidavit.
Shoemake said that could be a lot of people.
Jones, according to the affidavit, responded, “He has two brothers in here for armed robbery.”

Snipped:
What they did find in their search was a .22 caliber bullet located under the cold air inductor, a large amount of .22 LR and .22 short bullets inside the main fuse box and one spent .22 LR case under the back seat cushion. Also a 12 gauge disassembled shotgun was found in the trunk of the car under the spare tire, all listed in the affidavit.
Officers visited the individual they believed might have had the gun, who gave them permission to search his residence. No gun was located. The man told Sgt. Danny Foraker that all three boys had come to his house, but he did not want to get involved.
The affidavit noted that the boys left the residence and did not leave a gun there.

Bumping for PrairieWind & Elley...

Pretty interesting link actually.

I find it very interesting and IMO it could be an important factor in giving MJ a plea deal for his testimony (even though I don't think he deserves it). JMO, OMO, and MOO.

IMO Michael Jones is scared chitless and that's why he had that outburst when he heard how much time he's facing. Snitches...I'll bet his boys don't appreciate being ratted on. I'll bet they have friends in jail, several...and they'll stick up for those that didn't run their mouths. He specifically said, when referring to the bros in jail for armed robbery, that they'll kill him. It was their brother that he said they gave the gun to.

Now to research some more... :websleuther:

Thanks for the info Jersey Girl. I guess I had fallen behind and missed a lot. They should probably move him MJ to a seperate facility for his safety and to encourage more cooperation. Sure seems like lil ole Duncan has quite a criminal underworld that is all connected, huh?

  • #659
I'm wondering now if Jones was the wannabe and that's why he was the weaker out of them & ratted Luna out so fast. I can't find him in hardly anything with these kids. In their gang pictures & videos I don't see him. I don't even see him in pics at these kids houses just chillin. Luna & Edwards are in most of the pictures together, seems they're very close. I'm wondering more and more about Jones. Luna and Edwards seem really hardknocks based on those gang pictures. Is it possible Jones was just smarter in not broadcasting his business all over social media like the other two did?

Yep, and it's even more apparent if those statigram photos are searched out. Just about every single one of them have a history with the law. All bad shiznit.

Have you been back over the pages from last night and today?
