Pretty good Daily Mail synopsis, lots of pictures plus 3 links and a video:
FBI probes conversion to Islam of fired store-worker who BEHEADED female co-worker
and stabbed another woman before being shot by hero boss who was part-time police officer
Has he been trained in Syria or Iraq? IDK but it seems unlikely assuming he's not been there and only read or were told about beheadings, how he could have been able to perform one by himself with no "training" at all?
From what I have read his firing was even over him arguing with others about Muslim religion and trying to convert them.
So I do think his extremist views sparked the beheading of this innocent woman. If it was workplace violence then stabbing her would have been enough to cause her death. The beheading was due to his ideology imo.
And this isn't the first time Amercian Muslims have murdered other innocent citizens in the US. When I was searching for more information about this suspect I also found a case I had never heard about before.
...
So this is certainly not the first time a person of Muslim faith has murdered for the 'cause.'
Do we definitively know this was his motivation? Seems sort of early in the game to make such a loaded assertion.

Mohammed says Nolen attended services where sermons were delivered against beheadings like those committed by Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, militants.

IDK Maybe it's just me but honestly what church (insert any religion) has to talk or teach it's parishioners not to behead, seriously this is what they gather to teach? I don't need anyone to tell me what they are about, they speak for themselves. Sometimes they should shut up. Saying that we deliver sermons against beheadings, sure right. jmo idk
There was a jihadist-motivated serial killer running around killing people just a few months ago...

That said, I think that very disaffected people often look around for a cause/religion/ideology to make a clean break with their depressing circumstances. Some of these end up as religious converts, some embrace other movements, and sometimes they create their own alternative ideology. Some who are most disaffected/violence-prone/psychologically-challenged end up killing people justified by their various ideological frameworks. In addition to jihadists, consider the unibomber, Timothy McVeigh, Weathermen, Black Panthers, KKK, neo-Nazis, etc.
In the relatively recent past, in the U.S. we’ve seen the Sikh temple shooting by a white supremacist, Neo-Nazi shootings of Jews in Oberlin Park, Police officers shot in LA by anti-government crazies, and who knows why Eric Frein staked out the state police barracks.
There probably is more jihadist activity lately, because ISIS's PR campaign has gotten a lot of press, and impressionable people who are predisposed to such violence are influenced by it. But there will always be disaffected people at risk who will find some justification and outlet for their violence.
I wish I could articulate this as well as you just did. This is what I mean. I don't think it was his conversion to (radical)Islam that made him a murderer. I think the seed was there, waiting to sprout. His new found "religion" provided the water. If it wasn't for Jihad this time, it would have been for some other reason another time. And it could have been worse. I imagine beheading folks is a slightly less efficient process than bombing or shooting semi-automatic weapons.

It's not the religion; it's the person. The media wants to play on that...and Christian haters and other anti-religion get to use it to smash what they hate...it's ridiculous...all the way around...the man killed someone and stabbed someone else...he's evil...and it had little to do with his recent change to Islam...why did he convert in the first place...was he preoccupied? Was there something going on internally? Obviously...religion no.

The problem with that theory, imo, is the fact that there are 40,000 of these violent Jihadists, creating their own nation. They behead anyone, women, children, the elderly, who stand in their way. So we cannot just write it off as a lone crazy person who just happened to spout jihadist teachings. This is bigger than that, unfortunately. :cow:

I keep seeing the statement that ISIS has beheaded children, but the only media reports of that that I've found have been The Inquistr. Any legitimate news agency reporting that?
